I'm loving life.  I don't have a 10+ hour ride home, Mount ended the game on the goal line with a 17 point lead....... ;D

MOUNT UNION   87.2%
OSHKOSH   12.8%

I feel absolutely horrible for all the guys that confidently took Mount.   Especially Mr. Mom ;)

I am indeed humbled by a greater authority.  Damnit!

although I only was able to watch the game online, and not in person.  I think we saw a pretty potent MUC aerial attack in the makings.  I was a little concerned that the passing game would be Shorts or bust, but Seaman did a great job of finding that massize TE and Collins, Mathie, and Brown look capable of stepping in for the Claycomb injury.  The rushing game wasnt explosive, but I think we all expected that.  The Murray kid might be forcing himself into the RB discussion.  While the running game was not the caliber we all have come to expect, the o-line did a great job of giving Seaman a ton of time to find open recievers down field.  I dont think that anyone watching the game thought that UWO could stop the Raiders O in a crucial situation.

Now that defense on the other hand.  To be honest, it was swiss cheese.  And now for my purple tinted glasses view of things.  While the defense gave up a few big plays today, I will say it was due to the lack of experience and more so the first game of the year.  If MUC tackles well today, the UWO QB gets wrapped up in the backfield instead of scrambling for 1st downs.  The no huddle offense that UWO ran was very effective, imo the young Raiders D would have performed much better with a normal offensive pace in game 1.  The defense showed good potential though, looked like a young unit making first game mistakes imo

Rain in Cleveland may be partly resposible for the poor passing stats for both Cap and BW.  BW QB was 9-13-1 v Woo.  Even Assman was only 8-15.

Appropos nothing, but I watched some of the Army-Hawai'i game.  Hawai'i has a player named Umu.

Pick-Em results for Week 2 have been posted.

Look on the bright side 70's Raider, you didn't finish in the basement this week.  Even it is was only because a few guys forgot to post their picks:   :D

Spreads for Week 3 will be posted later today.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

B-W is 2-0 and exceeding pre-season expectations. Both Wooster and Capital gave away opportunities, so will B-W continue or start to show that they are no doubt lucky rather than good, we'll see! : :-\

so will B-W continue

I will continue my very successful predictions and say, "No way in hell"  My apologies to all the Cap fans, but BW is really, really bad

And other week of great picks like that and I'll be "BergDad" forever

If Wisconsin-osh Kosh can put those kinds of points and yardage against Mount- I would hope ONU can be a little better and get into an old fashion shoot out with them this year. Very encouraging for the Bears. Especially matching up their secondary with Mounts WR core. Could this be the year (again!).

I realize this is "old history" as it occured last week (i.e. week one), however, I am interested in your take on this.  I know that you have mentioned the "Berg is and improved team this year.  Yet, are they that much improved or is Alma that bad.  Not having seen Alma play this year, although knowing a little about their team, they have many young players that had to replace some of the now-graduated veterans from last year.  We knew Alma might have a tougher time this year, yet I didn't think it would be like this - at least not so far.  Your thoughts? (assuming you saw the game last week).

From talking to Coach Mike and watching them practice, Heidelberg is continuing to improve a little every season. I will be trapped by announcing on Fridays and my son's youth football on Saturdays till at least midway through the season. To date they haven't beat anybody who ended up in the top half of the conference so...... I thought the BW game would tell a lot but it may just confuse the situation even more. I can tell you they are hungry and Mike has added a lot in the way of facilities, coaches and players. Even the university is following the Mount Union plan to built enrollment and the school through much improved athletics across the board

I feel like a politican, cause I think I totally dodged answering the question

We all know how those politicians are! ;)  However, don't worry about that!  Obviously, if you did not get the chance to see the 'Berg/Alma game, how could you know about assessment of Alma? ??? :D  That being said, you did answer the question for me with regards to some info about "Berg's progression and current status of the progrfam.  Good luck to you - I can certainly understand how it will be a little hectic for you with that kind of "balancing your schedule"but you "know you've got to do it"!  Not to forget mentioning you having to split your allegiance betweenn Mount and the "Berg since your daughter attends the latter!  Take care!

Hey, HS, Ric, Seventies, and other experts on all things MtU  (MUC was SO much simpler):
Do you know if there will be a podcast of yesterday's MtU-UWOsh game, or if the PPV agreement or other factors wipe out that possibility as well?  Can't get enough!

Speaking of which, it was a beautiful afternoon to watch the JV vs John Carroll in Mount Union Stadium.  Crowd was up, probably due to the number of fans (like us) who didn't get to Wisconsin. Some hard hits and pretty moves.
