It is with a very heavy heart I communicate with you today.  Heidelberg has lost a coach, mentor, teacher, and friend last night with the passing of Jason Bendekovic.  Jason passed at 1AM from complications dealing with a blood clot in his lungs.  He had been fighting the flu for 2 weeks and succumbed last night at St. Vincent Hospital.  His brother, Ron, passed away 5 years ago from similar conditions.  Jason had been a member of the Heidelberg community for 5 years, and was an outstanding teacher, recruiter, and coach for us.  Over his coaching career, Jason had the opportunity to impact hundreds of lives through his guidance and mentoring of young men.  We will announce information for his funeral arrangements as they become available.  Please assist our players and students in this time of grief, as Coach Bendo will be greatly missed by all those he touched with his compassion, care, and support.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve the passing of another child in their family.  A full obituary will be posted later this week.  There will be celebration of Jason's life held today at 4PM in Rickley Chapel, Paul Stark will officiate and there will counselors available after the service.

Respectfully,

Mike Hallett

So so so sad. This hits close to home especially due to my wife's recent blood clots in her lungs. Thoughts are with the entire 'Berg Community.

thoughts and prayers to the berg community.  always tough to hear about young folks passing.

LK seems to be featuring a flavor of the week approach at running back.  Last week, Panchik and Lattimore.  This week Lemmon and Simon.
Any thoughts on next week's feature backs?

seventiesraider

My gut says he'd be happy if Ryder and Lemmon settle in back there. Saw no evidence the Lattimore even made the trip, not a good sign.

Ryder and Lemmon will be the backfield, imo.  With Panchik's knee, any carries the Raiders get from him will be gravy.   unfortunately he can not be counted on each and every week. It will be interesting to see if there is a Lattimore sighting this week.  He had a meeting with the NCAA late last week, I don't know if that had anything to do with his absence at Wilma

Condolences  to Coach Hallett, the players and the Heidelberg Community.. and the Bendekovic family.

:o :o :o  Ok....how can THAT be good in any way?  What in the SAM HILL does that mean?

Mount needs to be focused this week as we are playing the "GREATEST ONU TEAM EVER...EVER....EVER....EVER!!!!"

To be honest, I look for this game to be a very closely fought contest, and if Mount's D doesn't step up, the offense better be ready to score fiddy.

Saturday's weather forecast for the game so far is light rain and mid 50's. Will need a good running game! :)

Its only Tuesday, you know the weather forecast will change a time or two by Saturday.  I'd be more worried about the forecast of facing the greatest ONU team ever.
