I have to admit that as a student of math and probability I've followed football sites that used math clear back to Dunkel Predicts. I was using MasseyRatings.com to find some odd HS scores today and checked Massey's prediction for the Mount - Marietta game. Massey awards Marietta 0% chance of beating Mount. So the guy at the heart of the BCS does at least known something about DIII football 8-)

Same chance (%0) for UMU vs. Muskingum and Heidelberg:

Man, I've never seen so much nitpicking after a pretty solid beatdown of a top 10 team, purple people.  I was at the game Saturday (I wasn't missing much from my alma mater, that's for sure).  Anyone want to trade teams?   :)

You gotta remember most of us hadn't seen the real deal in person yet, and most who had saw us against JCU and Wilmington.

This just in...

Capital and the Berg just put up another 400 yards of Offense and 30 more points.  ;D

Good to see Cap get the offense in gear, but I am surprised by the lack of defense.  Guess I shouldn't be, Cap-Berg always seems to be a high scoring affair.

2010: 60-50
2009: 46-32
2008: 38-17
2007: 42-10
2006: 65-7
2005: 66-0
etc...

and the one I will never forget- my jr. season, 1995- 51-50

What I see is another trend:

CAP +66, +58, +32, +21, +14, +10...

The Berg is catching up.  The Crusaders better watch out!

The Berg might recruit defense this year and who knows...... :o

Although I see what you posters are referring to about Seaman's 3/4 release and lack of long ball, I feel that the short and intermediate darts that he throws, the good feet, and solid decision making , in the long run, are much more beneficial to the success of the Raiders in the future than his ability to let one fly once every second or third series.  Sure it hurts Shorts' stats and doesnt show some of his abilities, but in the long run winning is what its about and I think Seaman is a young winner who will only get stronger and better....

Agree, and the earlier post by Toph that several posters were knit-picking after a big win is correct. The Raiders have had a " few" Qb's that did not fit the big  strong cannon for an arm mold. IMHO Coach Kehres knows better than all of us what it takes to win and have as team leaders. By some comments you would think the score was ONU 27 and Mount 0.

What we know is the Raiders have a good shot to win the conference, but have a few more tough road games at Ottterbein and B-W. If the team improves over the remaining 6 games, I like the Raiders chances in the playoffs, but it is one game at time. What impresses me most is that so many young players are developing. When can anyone remember when Mount had so many sophomores starting, I can't?  :-\

Raider68-I'll quickly agree that we have had some QB with less than a cannon but they were usually scramblers like Bruney and Burghardt. Seaman's arm isn't my beef, but rather how many wide open receivers he missed and how many low percentage passes he forced. BUT....it was the toughest defense he'll see before late in the playoffs

And I take exception to any raps on Murray. Check the clips on the schools site and tell me you don't see flashes of great running there.

Newsflash!  Seaman is the QB for the Raiders unless some unforseen, crazy thing happens.  Trust me....I have heard it from "the source".

I think he will do nothing but get better, and stronger.  And remember folks....we didn't see the "Cecil" package at all.  We will NOT see the "Cecil" package until the play-offs.

In the meantime, the RB's, Line, and QB just need to keep getting better.  NO ONE scares me in the play-offs other than WW.  They are clearly the ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.  They are that good.

actually the cecil package was used once against ONU inside the 5, MUC called a TO and then ran cecil right into the middle.

As has been said by some in here, soph Neal might have to use the underneath/crossing routes to get the playmakers the ball.  Sort of the young Micheli to Garcon over the middle and run route. As long as he can get the ball to the best recieving unit in the nation, good things will happen.  I wish MUC had the perfect QB, but Neal can be great with these recievers.

Remember we are only four games into the season, the offense is only going to be more polished as the season goes on

I agree here.  While the ability to really stretch the field is great, Mount has a receiving corps that can get open underneath and make plays in space.  As long as there is some semblance of a running game, the middle of the field should be a great asset to Seaman et al.  Take a shot downfield (medium deep) every now and then to keep the safeties honest, and you should be alright.

Toph,

Are you going spearhead the effort for a new HC at JCU after this season? ;D ;D I think they are some former Raiders who could fill the need! :)

That's not fair.  There are former everythings (Quakers, Pioneers, Mousketeers) that could fill the need.

It appears that my daughter's HS soccer coach would be an upgrade for the JCU football team.

And yes, the Tom Arth years seem a lifetime ago.

I just hope he learns to see a 6' 4" tight end waving both arms in a crossing pattern 7-8 yards deep. I'm guessing that once up to speed, Kyle Miller will be a hand full to bring down
