Let's face it...as it stands now......WW will NOT have a game before the play-offs.  There is no one in that conference that can challenge unless all the stars, moons, and cosmos align.

This is really eery...as I read this part of your comments on my computer, Stephen Hawking was "talking" on a Discovery Channel program on the TV in the other room. Very weird!!  ;)

Also, Miller may get some looks by the "big boys"....he is athletic, has great hands, size, intelligence, is coachable, and comes from an NFL lineage.  Probably not drafted, but he has the tools when you compare him to folks currently earning a paycheck on Sundays.

I think Miller's long snapping could open the door to the next level.  He is going to be a D3 all american this year, and could be the most valuable player on Mount's offense.

Will Murray or Lemmon be the starting RB on Saturday against the Pioneers? :-\

does it really matter?

and what good are rankings at the D3 level?  it's the same teams year after year, the playoffs cancel out any importance of the top 25 of any website/coaches

I would have Wesley in the top tier until they prove otherwise. Personally would move Linfield down, and North Central up. With two near misses, Wittenberg s/b down one group. Wabash and St John Fisher are probably both too far down.

I also think you have been too humble rating Wisconsin schools. You can't be the most powerful conference in the country based on one good team.

After watching last Saturday's game, I don't know where to put Ohio Northern and remembering Baldwin Wallace is undefeated makes me further scratch my head.

IMO, Wesley should be in the second tier until they prove otherwise. In the last 5 years or so they've shown that so far they are unable to beat the top tier so until they do they should be just below it.

I agree about Wesley...in three games against UWW/UMU over the past 5 years, they haven't come within 17 points of beating either team.

Just think 02, if it wasn't for the "close" game a year ago, that number could be 37 points instead of 17!! KABOOM  ;)

I think the final score against Mount and Whitewater is irrelevant. How long did either keep their starters in and how many points showed up during amateur hour are more accurate judges of level of competition

I think Larry's vote at running back goes to who holds on the the ball best
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

It is just conversation to discuss rankings, but D3 has the real decider ( the playoffs) per PurpleSuits' comments.

for this year IMHO, Wesley, what ever tier they are in could be playing Mount and/or UWW in the post season. Will they win or not this time is another debate! :)

Congratulations to Kurt Rocco on signing with the Cleveland Gladiators

BTW Am I the only one who "doubts" round number attendance figures that some school publish. Strangely it is usually the schools claiming the largest attendances

i was going to post something about that.  I was pleasantly shocked to hear about that during the STO rebroadcast of the ONU game.  hopefully he can secure a roster spot for the next couple of seasons.

I thought the atmosphere at the Mount/ONU game was terrific, with the  6,500 fans! :)

PurpleSuit,

A +k for your 100th for a good thoughts on K.Rocco's success although Seventies beat you to it! ;D

Any time a school's attendance ends in two zeroes more than twice a season, ignore it!  What surprises me is that I think it seems to more often be low attendance schools - I recall one school that had five consecutive bball 'crowds' of 400!  Heck, if there are that few, someone could actually count the crowd in a matter of minutes. ;)

Good point, the actual Mount/ONU attendance was 6,432, I just rounded it! ;D

If Kurt Rocco doesn't get hurt, the "close" game is just a bad as their UWW games.  Wesley was a nice team, but not a legit threat.  No different than the typical good OAC team that finishes 2md or 3rd to Mount.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

wesleydad

might as well add my 2 cents or so.  wesley has done nothing to move to the top tier.  losses to ww and umu and mhb in the quarters and semis show they are a step below the top 2.  they are a good program, better then most as their playoff run is only surpassed by the top 2 in the last 5 or so years.  skunks sidekick and i have had several discussions on this topic and i agree with his assessment, it is not the talent that is stopping them from moving to the top tier it is the other aspects needed to move up, philosophy, coaching on game day, etc.  there is no shame in being in the 2nd tier, it makes for a fun time into late november at least.

No shame at all - there are well over 200 teams who can only dream of being tier 2! ;)

From the CCIW, NCC seems to be knocking on the door, Wheaton is calling from the front sidewalk, and several others are at least within shouting distance of making it there! :D

reality check

Some schools would have to have a hard time getting accurate attendance numbers.  ONU and the Berg come to mind with the new on-campus venues.  The only thing keeping ONU students from walking into the stadium from the dorms is a rope fence standing about 18 inches high.

Is it somehow better to throw out a guess of 6432 or 6400 or 6500?  A guess is a guess whether it's rounded or pulled out of one's own butt right?!?
