Mount Union isn't the only team in the equation. Perhaps the voter felt UW-Whitewater did something to earn their No. 1 vote this week, instead.

Well, if you base it totally on games YTD, then I think many teams would be clear out of the 25 despite being undefeated. Some those teams are there based on who the coach is and their history. That's the only explanation of where Case Western is compared to Wittenberg. Similar schedules, similar results, miles apart in the polls. (thankfully I have Karma to burn)

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Thnx for noticing the Spartans.  Wittenberg had a deep playoff run last year, while the Spartans were out in one.  What rankles me is once beaten Wabash getting one more vote than CWRU.  Again similar schedules and the LGs lost one.

I thought this was worth sharing, a story from John Gagliardi.

Gagliardi likes to tell the story that shortly after coming to Saint John's, he asked the college president if the monks would still love him if he had a losing season. "We'll still love you John," he said the president replied, "but we'll miss you.

Otterbein gave this one away. Terrible effort at the end of the game. Dropped balls and very shakey QB play late in the game. Really disappointing offensive ballgame

A BAD day, very BAD day. No loss ever feels worse than losing to Capital and with a sick kid trying to play, it just made it worse. He had not kept food down for 3 days before the game, but did not tell anyone. He just wanted to play so bad, but had a couple tough plays at the end that hurt. Felt bad for him since he gave a great effort. He actually spit blood. Going to Dr today and hopefully will recover for Saturday. Football players are a rare breed. Probably why I played Golf.

Bein_86,

I admire your son's dedication and effort, no doubt it will serve him well beyond the gridiron! :)

I've been reading back awhile as I havent been on here until recently.  I wanted to get some opinions out there. Obviously at BW we are proud of winning seasons, I am just curious as to why everyone on here thinks we are happy with mediocrity or picks on us for talking about our winning seasons?  I think its safe to assume that everyone in the OAC WANTS to win the OAC and get to the playoffs and win national championships, even if you are 0-10, next year you want to do that am I right?  But you have to celebrate what you have, obviously in the OAC no one other than Mount has been able to say anything about conference championships since 94 so what else is there?!

I just dont see it as average to have 40+ winning seasons in the toughest conference in D3 football, or am I off base here? BW is the only team in all of college football to have 3 coaches with over 100 wins each.  Snell is over halfway to 100 as well as he is 54-34 right now so if he keeps it up, it will be 4!  the school has a .640 winning percentage with 544 wins dating back to the late 1890's which I believe is 2nd in the OAC only to Mount with 670(this is a huge amount of wins by the way, how do they rank in all divisions for most wins in a program? anyone know?)  So seriously,  I am asking  because I am curious...why does everything think we are a mediocre program when we have accomplished so much that so many havent?
Go Eagles!

Thank you fat-old-LB.  I am a new BW mom and have been reading all season.  Trying to understand this sport my son loves.  Seems everyone is down on BW and I just wasn't quite sure why. All I know is that these boys must really love the sport to work as hard as they all do and I admire them ALL.

Welcome, Mom.  Here's my take on the flavor of the BW-related posts:  Most of the posters on this board are Mount Union folks and there's been a special animosity between UMU and BW for decades.  When Mount Union was just at the beginning at putting its run of dominance together, BW represented the biggest obstacle in the OAC.  They were the last OAC team to win a National Championship and they had several conference championship seasons in the 80's.  Even after the Mount Union Machine got rolling, BW has been a thorn in its side, playing them tough most years.  They represent Mount Union's last regular season road loss in '91 and were the lone regular season loss between '92 and '05.  When I was at Mount Union, there was always a heightened level of intensity when we were playing BW.

So, while I don't claim any love for BW, the truth is there's a lot to be proud of given the history of the program, but also the impressive turn-around from last year's 3 - 7 season.  Best of luck to your son the rest of the way.

Hope he's feeling better too. He's played very well all season and we'll need him to continue if we want to finish out this season strong.  Hopefully i'll see you this weekend at homecoming. Go Cards!
