Bein_86:  Hope your boy is OK.

Hoping so. Doing blood work. thank you for your thoughts

Hope he's feeling better too. He's played very well all season and we'll need him to continue if we want to finish out this season strong.  Hopefully i'll see you this weekend at homecoming. Go Cards!

I will be there. I am glad you feel he has played well. He is not happy with how he has played especially Saturday. He feesl he has greatly under acheived.

Without being particularly nasty or attacking anybody, I can list some of the reasons we "pick" on BDub's. Many on this board had the "pleasure" of playing on the green parking lot that was the rock hard old Astro Turf at Finnie. That in itself was enough to make anybody dislike Berea.
There are two ways to look at BW's claim of having 42 of 43 winning seasons and many of us think being proud of a lot of 5-3 and 6-4 seasons is pretty lame. Yes they have a National Championship, but some of these current players parents weren't born yet. I've walked by Heidelberg's National Championship football many times and always think, maybe it's time to put that old thing away. It's sort of like Wittenberg recruiting as "The King of DIII" based on what they did in the '70s and '80s.
And then there's those uni's from whence the nickname Flamin' Pile came from. I know I'd be proud to see my son in any college football uniform, but since I don't have to worry about that for four more years, I personally think that Baldwin Wallace and Rowan are tied for the ugliest uniforms in DIII.
John Snell has made a career of doing a little with a lot. If his history is consistent, they will be back to struggling to break 500 next season.

Maybe I have touched some of the reasons, or maybe it's because my Father-in-Law is a proud BW alum and one of this world's biggest jackasses.

But please be advised, we DO NOT hate your sons, just let them know, I hated BW (and Wittenberg) when their Grandpa was in school

Thank you fat-old-LB.  I am a new BW mom and have been reading all season.  Trying to understand this sport my son loves.  Seems everyone is down on BW and I just wasn't quite sure why. All I know is that these boys must really love the sport to work as hard as they all do and I admire them ALL.

Welcome, Mom.  Here's my take on the flavor of the BW-related posts:  Most of the posters on this board are Mount Union folks and there's been a special animosity between UMU and BW for decades.  When Mount Union was just at the beginning at putting its run of dominance together, BW represented the biggest obstacle in the OAC.  They were the last OAC team to win a National Championship and they had several conference championship seasons in the 80's.  Even after the Mount Union Machine got rolling, BW has been a thorn in its side, playing them tough most years.  They represent Mount Union's last regular season road loss in '91 and were the lone regular season loss between '92 and '05.  When I was at Mount Union, there was always a heightened level of intensity when we were playing BW.

So, while I don't claim any love for BW, the truth is there's a lot to be proud of given the history of the program, but also the impressive turn-around from last year's 3 - 7 season.  Best of luck to your son the rest of the way.

I think most of the comments here are intended as good-natured ribbing of a very successful rival who once dominated Mt. Union.  108 is right about the intensity of the rivalry and I expect it will be on display by both sides at BW this year.  I just hope we all stay civilized.  BW is the only place I've ever seen fights break out between opposing fans (it may have happened elsewhere, but I did not see it) and it is the only place I've ever been spit on by students of the opposing school.  It does get a little intense.

So while BW has much to be proud of and has a program worthy of respect, I still won't shower love on the "flaming pile."

Now Mom, as to your son, I sincerely wish him the best for a successful, happy and injury free college career!

Mount Union isn't the only team in the equation. Perhaps the voter felt UW-Whitewater did something to earn their No. 1 vote this week, instead.

;), saw your post on the WIAC board...

I didn't think it would be a secret once I posted. I know you wander. But as I said yesterday, not every poster looks at their No. 1 decision solely from the Mount Union angle. There is another team involved, you know.

Mom & FOLB...

Ditto to what has been posted in relation to your query.

I think a lot of the posted "bitterness" is almost out of habit these days.  I think the OAC as a whole is a much "kinder/gentler" conference these days.  Of course, that is easy for me to say being a Mount fan and all.   ;D

I know, but seemed like last week was a more opportune time to change after the uninspired play vs. Muskingum.  IMO UWW has been #1 all season.

Strangely I've been getting more faith in Mount as the year progresses. Where I sau no running game before, I see a substantial one now. Where I had no faith in our QB's before, I'm coming around. I see more and better receivers emerging and I'm not as concerned about the o-line anymore. Now would be when I started giving Mount a first place vote, not take it away.
