To the BW-newbies:  Welcome aboard.   Hope you ignore the idiots and stick around.

Oh, like you've never made an anti-BW statement.

And B38W, if they get rid of Snell, I'll believe they can be consistant. For the span of his tenure they have been inconsistant and under performing

thanks for the responses.  I can appreciate all that you said on here(sorry to hear you got spit on, I know that happened a lot when we traveled places but I dont like hearing that our people did that)...Lord knows the Uni's need work, they have been much better within the 2000's I'd say but still...when your working with Brown and Yellow, what can you expect really?!

I played at BW's field in High school a few games as well being from St. Eds and needing the field if it was claimed by Lakewood for that night, but it didnt seem that bad even when I was in college.  I assume the concrete you are referring to must be early 90s and 80s?  It was no dream when I played there but not any worse than Carroll's before they redid theirs or even Mounts before the field grass.

One thing I do love seeing though is the fact that a lot of people on here that post are former players so you speak from experience, not just a bunch of mouthy know it alls that really know nothing, so I will stick around for conversations due to that, even if we do get some random comments from the peanut gallery.

Hopefully BW can win a few more and get at least an 8-2 or 9-1 (haa!) finish this season and get back to where they should be.

Question for the masses:
I am curious to see if there is more of a link to concussions for players that have massive amounts of hair (to the point where their helmets dont even fit right) than those that don't.  I just feel like every game I watch there are helmets flying off regularly and I personally feel its because they dont fit properly because they have tons of hair under there!  the RB from the Titans, Johnson's helmet is completely pushed forward due to how much he has.  I just think its causing the helmet not to perform properly and that is contributing to all these new cases.  I mean if you look at old NFL footage, people were may more brutal than nowadays and it seems people get hurt even more.  Granted the players are much larger now, but I personally feel there is a connection, anyone elses thoughts? Or are the quality of the helmets lacking?

My personal view is the "hair thing" is starting to get out of control at the college level. If there is an injury risk than the NCAA will do something, in terms of guidelines. On the other hand, do most coaches really care if a player has long hair? :-\

Getting a little defensive?

For the record, I didn't imply that I have never jumped on the Flaming Pile before.   Simply saying that the new posters should overlook some of our long standing issues and give the board a chance.  We unfortunately have a tendency to give the newbies a harder time than we probably should.

I'm still seeing a lot of concussions among High School kids with brand new Riddell Evolutions, but I have also seen an awful lot of helmets flying off in college games. In the Pro game there is a lot of intentional helmet to helmet contact. I think eventually that is going to have to be outlawed at every level. Hair isn't that big a problem in high schools around here, with coaches still demanding clean cut players, but I've seen some brutal hits, with mouthpieces flying that make my back hurt in the pressbox. It's the game: Bigger, Faster, Meaner

I heard a commentator propose that a player whose helmet came off, except if pulled off, sit out the next play.  The objective being to be sure that the player had his chin strap snugged up properly.

JK,

Any thoughts on the Cap/Raider game this Saturday? :)

Of course I do.

First, great win last week.  It's always good when you beat your top rival and your main competition for players around the Columbus area.

As for Mount-Cap, I think it COULD be a good game.  Cap has been nothing if not inconsistent.  I think last weekend was the closest that they have come to "putting it all together."  The first few weeks the defense was good and the offense was lost, then the D starts getting shredded but the offense starts putting up huge numbers..  If, and this is a big IF, they can can find the defense from weeks 1 and 2 and the offense from weeks 3 and 4, then they can probabaly scare Mount a bit.  It's a tall task when you play Mount anyway, and you do have to be perfect to beat them, so this probably isn't the Cap team to do that.  However, I do think Cap has the talent to hang with anyone, so a close game or upset isn't TOTALLY out of the question.  To do it, they will have to establish D'Andrea and the run game to allow Hartinger to make some big plays with the pass..  On D, they will have to do exactly the opposite, i think.  Take away the short and intermediate stuff that Seaman is so comfortable with and make UMU run to beat you.  It'll be tough, and I'll keep the faith on Saturday, and we'll see what happens on the field.

reality check

Could the OAC board be entering an unprecedented representation from teams this season?

We have ohiofootball back so I'm not alone in the Polar Bear corner.  I know there is another from time to time but nothing consistent.

BW has more support now than they did during BWDad's days and during the playoff year.

OTT has never before seen levels of supporters.

CAP might be down from where it once was but is still represented.

Mount support is growing like always.

Toph still lurks on behalf of the JCU boys.

The Berg lost a bet and has seventies on its side.

We're only missing Musky, Etta and Wilma.

I didn't think it would be a secret once I posted. I know you wander. But as I said yesterday, not every poster looks at their No. 1 decision solely from the Mount Union angle. There is another team involved, you know.

I know, but seemed like last week was a more opportune time to change after the uninspired play vs. Muskingum.  IMO UWW has been #1 all season.

Strangely I've been getting more faith in Mount as the year progress. Where I sau no running game before, I see a substantial one now. Where I had no faith in our QB's before, I'm coming around. I see more and better receivers emerging and I'm not as concerned about the o-line anymore. Now would be when I started giving Mount a first place vote, not take it away.

Seventies,

Agree, You are right on target! :) +k
