I didn't think it would be a secret once I posted. I know you wander. But as I said yesterday, not every poster looks at their No. 1 decision solely from the Mount Union angle. There is another team involved, you know.

I know, but seemed like last week was a more opportune time to change after the uninspired play vs. Muskingum.  IMO UWW has been #1 all season.

Strangely I've been getting more faith in Mount as the year progress. Where I sau no running game before, I see a substantial one now. Where I had no faith in our QB's before, I'm coming around. I see more and better receivers emerging and I'm not as concerned about the o-line anymore. Now would be when I started giving Mount a first place vote, not take it away.

Seventies,

Agree, You are right on target! :) +k

really??? by giving mount first place votes, that will require other teams to lose first-place votes. What have you seen that makes you think whitewater should lose any first-place votes? Or should Mount just receive the votes by default....b/c they are Mount Union  ;)

I heard a commentator propose that a player whose helmet came off, except if pulled off, sit out the next play.  The objective being to be sure that the player had his chin strap snugged up properly.

ADL70,

Congrats on your 100th +k, here it is! :)

Warhawk-I think the line of reasoning was, to those of us watching the program, there wasn't any reason to give Mount a first place vote till recently,  not that everybody should suddenly vote for Mount. They haven't really looked like a contender until recently. I wouldn't have been taking the vote away now, I would be thinking about starting to look at Mount as a possible first place vote. First five weeks, all the votes should have gone to WW without question

I think I'm the only one left, I haven't seen 4u in some time.

I read often, post less.  What's there to talk about at this point?  When I attend OAC games these days, it's usually whatever matchup I think is best that week and what works with my schedule for travel.

I might attempt a double header this weekend though, going to the Cap/Mount game in the afternoon, and heading back up to the ONU/JCU tilt at 7:00.

Could the OAC board be entering an unprecedented representation from teams this season?

We have ohiofootball back so I'm not alone in the Polar Bear corner.  I know there is another from time to time but nothing consistent.

BW has more support now than they did during BWDad's days and during the playoff year.

OTT has never before seen levels of supporters.

CAP might be down from where it once was but is still represented.

Mount support is growing like always.

Toph still lurks on behalf of the JCU boys.

The Berg lost a bet and has seventies on its side.

We're only missing Musky, Etta and Wilma.

OK, since we don't have any emotional ties to Mount anymore, I'll start rooting for Musky, Etta, and Wilma.....Go Muskies, Go Quakers, and go whatever Marietta is.........anyone know some of their players??  Hello Playoffs.

Pioneers

My father-in-law went there.  I could fill in as a "fan" since they have no representation on here, even though I couldn't name a single player on their team.

Go Pioneers!  Beat (the spread on) Mount Union!

Thnx, I'd been stuck at 99 for a while, then lost one (I expected more from my needling the Wallies).  Karma comes and it goes.  So one back at ya.

Or are the quality of the helmets lacking?

http://video.nytimes.com/video/2010/9/20/continuous/1248069210477/timescast.html

That was talking about the "Standard" of helmets hasn't changed.  But Riddell and Shutt have done extensive research, testing and redesign on their helmets to help lessen the chances of injury.  The video also talks about "glaring" problems with the reconditioning process with helmets being returned with missing pads or facemasks not attached properly.  Any coach worth his job will check for those types of issues prior to handing out the equipment.

I think one of the major issues is that players think they are more protected now and are using their heads improperly when blocking/tackling.  Proper technique is not enforced enough and too many young players tackle with their heads down or think they can be more reckless (ie. spearing or using their helmets as a weapon) when playing.

You gotta teach them to keep their heads up and "See what you hit".

I agree, I say it everytime I watch a db in either the NFL, College or H.S. dive at someones feet or tries for the big hit instead of wrapping up like they should.  Seems like good tackling has dissapeared for most.

These young kids see all those "knockout hits" on TV.  A coach I have worked camps with says the NFL isn't real football anymore.  Just entertainment.  Fundamentals went out the door a long time ago.  They are all just trying to get on Sportscenter.

I agree.  Very few players, regardless of the sport, want to spend the hours needed to really develop good fundamentals.  Bigger, faster, stronger they'll work endlessly at.  But working on proper technique is too boring for them.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
