I have a 'feeling' it's going to be:

East = Wesley
South = MHB
North = NCC
West = UWW

HA HA HA HA!  The guru has spoken.....book it!   ;)

HScoach,

I hope you are not correct on this. What you are saying is the Raiders could be rated Number 5 this year, and IMHO I just do not see that. If they had a loss, Ok, but undefeated (hopefully).   We will know Sunday PM. :)

Will make for an interesting selection Sunday with both Stagg Bowl participants undefeated and ranked 2nd in their region. The NCAA is certainly free to seed Mount and Whitewater number #1 in their region, especially because they claim there are no seeds. (next they'll tell me there is no Easter Bunny)

Given my limited knowledge of the NCAA, I say they do what they always do, what costs the least and raises them the most money. That puts big draws like Wesley, Mount Union and Whitewater at home at the top of the bracket so my guess is

Wesley-East
Mount-North
UWW-West
South MHB

and ONU goes to the East

Mr. Ypsi

70s, I'd bet dollars to donuts (that used to be a meaningful phrase - now folks might think I'm proposing an even bet! ;D) that the only real question left is whether NCC or St. Thomas is the 4th #1.  I see Wesley as the 'south', UMU as the 'east', and UWW as the 'north' or 'west' depending on NCC vs. the Tommies.

I think NCC has a slight advantage, but only slight.  (Since they are each 1-0 vs. regionally-ranked teams [NCC over Wheaton; STU over Bethel], a HUGE factor might be if either St. John's [doubtful] or IWU [50-50 chance] squeaks in as a regionally-ranked team.)

I have to join seventies and Raider68 in the above.  I will be totally surprised if it turns out other than as they have predicted - assuming, of course, that none of those teams lose this Saturday in the regular season final.  Just MMO. ;)

Hmmmmm.......I have been contemplating all the various scenarios, and I have come up with a new angle.

Can anyone say.........CONSPIRACY THEORY!!!

The NCAA is screwing with Mount, and makes them the #2 seed in the North.  This will mean a journey to NCC in the regional finals, and a journey to WesleyUWW/MHB in the semi's.

I DEMAND A RECOUNT!  I WANT TO SEE THE BALLOTS THEMSELVES!  THIS IS A TRAVESTY!

I raised the question a couple weeks ago on the ATN board about wether ONU would go east if UMU was in the north.  The response was that ONU was too far west to get placed in the east bracket.  They could be in the north bracket if UMU went to the east, they could share the north bracket with UMU, or possibly go to the west bracket (?).

Not discounting what you were told at all but only an NCAA selection committee (or possibly state reps and senators) would come up with a statement like, "ONU is too far west to be in the east bracket but they could go west."

ONU may stay in the North simply because trips to the East and West seeds are all in the 8-12 hour range.  A quick Google Maps search shows that East schools like Wesley, Cortland St, SUNY-Martime and west school like Coe, St. Thomas, etc. are all outside the 500 mile window.  Only Whitewater (of the schools I checked) sits inside the 500 mile radius.

The NCAA has some interesting choices to make.  Keep in mind that when they've put Mount in the east, it's been because they were having everyone come to them.  If they get shipped out and aren't a #1 seed, there is a possibility for a lot more travel for all parties.  They may keep ONU in the North for that reason because I have to think the NCAA would not want to have them travel each round over that magical 500 mile mark to play away games.  If either Mount or ONU go East/West or whatever, I'd hope they're at worst a 2 seed so that they would host a game or two before having a long trip to look at.

Just to clarify, I was only told that ONU going east was highly unlikely.  Going west wasn't mentioned as a possibility.  Like everyone else, I'm looking for the best possible senario which would have UMU and ONU not meeting until the semi-finals.

Ok, I'll bite.  How does it matter if you travel from point A to point B, instead of point B to point A?  Isn't it the same distance either way?

I can't seem to find the posts now, but perhaps RC was doing a riff on Pat posting that by the official NCAA mapping software, it was something like like 496 miles from X college to UMU, but 516 miles from UMU to X college!  (I replied, "Does that mean they have to drive to Alliance, but can fly home?") ;D
