Quote from: reality check on November 10, 2010, 10:30:00 AMKeep in mind that when they've put Mount in the east, it's been because they were having everyone come to them.  If they get shipped out and aren't a #1 seed, there is a possibility for a lot more travel for all parties.

Ok, I'll bite.  How does it matter if you travel from point A to point B, instead of point B to point A?  Isn't it the same distance either way?

No my point is that those east schools only had to make the trip to Alliance once.  The Raiders made sure that noone else had to travel a lot after they played at Mount Union.

If Mount goes to the East and is not the one seed, they may have to travel more than one time and those trips would be pretty darn far away.  If Ithaca (random east school) travels in week one to play the Raiders, they don't need to travel in week two.  It becomes SJF's (another random east school) week to travel and then in week three someoe else gets to deal with the trip; not Mount travelling 500+ miles in week two and 500+ miles in week three (potentially).

Mount being a one seed in the east meant an individual school from the east was making a one-time LONG trip to Alliance and not the kids from Alliance traveling all over the east coast week to week.  Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

RC-Did you get into my meds  ;D

No if I took any of your meds, I wouldn't be able to type anything and I'd be drooling all over the keyboard....

...OK so pretty much the same way you are on a daily basis. ;D

ONU will stay in the North, and I expect them to be a 3 or 4 seed (not that there ARE any seeds of course!).

I can't seem to find the posts now, but perhaps RC was doing a riff on Pat posting that by the official NCAA mapping software, it was something like like 496 miles from X college to UMU, but 516 miles from UMU to X college!  (I replied, "Does that mean they have to drive to Alliance, but can fly home?") ;D

The school was St. Lawrence and Pat's post was on the East Region Football/Liberty League board on Nov. 1.

Even then, reality_check, UMU only has to travel more than once in the first three weeks if they are a #3 seed or lower.  There's only one team in that quarter of the bracket that a #2 would have to travel to; and that's not until week 3 (unless you live in Texas or the Pacific Coast).

We've got Regional Rankings... Final time for the season that we'll see them:

How can UWW be a #2 seed in the West in the latest regional rankings? ???

Mathie pulled a hammy in pre-game warm ups against ONU and hasn't played since.  I'm guessing he's looking for a medical year.  No sense in coming back as the FG holder and 6th WR.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

What?  Evidently my TOP MEN got to the regional ranking people, and did a little number on them to get things right in the world.

These regional rankings (although almost all are fairly spot-on now) leave a lot to be desired.  UWW is ranked BEHIND St. Thomas.....yahhhh....sure.... ::)

Except for a few "tweaks", everywhere else it seems to line up fairly accurately (although there are always arguing points).

HSCoach - good job using that reverse psychology on the regional committee!   ;)

Mr. Ypsi

I've got a real problem with this week's regional rankings.  Last week, the north was 1. Wheaton  2. NCC  3. UMU.  Saturday NCC decisively beat Wheaton (AT Wheaton).  And NOW they jump UMU over NCC??!!  (Mind you, I've got nothing against UMU being ranked #1, but they do it NOW?! :o)

Meanwhile, St. Thomas remains #1 in the west over UWW (presumed reason is 10 regional wins vs. only 6 for UWW).  As a north partisan, I have a sinking feeling that the committee is positioning to choose the Tommies as the 4th #1, rather than NCC, which almost certainly would mean "Hello UWW, welcome to the 'north'". :(

Yep. I agree. Sure looks that way now. UWW deserves a #1 so it looks like its down to NCC and St. Thomas and moving NCC off a #1 seed indicates to me the choice has been made. Too bad for NCC if they end up as a #2 in the North behind UWW.
