-as an aside, anyone from the board going to the game saturday? I'll be easy to spot(hear actually)
If I'm there. I'm always standing along the south wall on the home side of the main entrance. I'll either be wearing black jersey 99 or purple jersey 66. I may be late given I have to do an Akron to Steubenville for the Division 6 high school semi-final game in Friday night. Win, I'll be to the Mount game, lose, I might not get out of bed on Saturday :P

I'll be there with at least three others from out of town who don't get to watch very often--my older daughter will be joining me--we have taken in at least one game almost every year since 1996, when she was 10--she asked me if it would be possible to get tickets this weekend as she is traveling in from NYC for the holiday.  Sometimes it's nice to just be Daddy!!  An early memory is her getting stung by a bee at a Defiance yellow jackets game--she told me she wouldn't go to any more games with teams that had stingers!  That was a long time ago.

Section 2--Row N (back row) seats 4-8.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

LOUD 2ft long aluminum noise makers, and you'll see #68 giving me the vulcan death stare when he he hears those things on the field-btw I think I've seen #99 jersey-and anywhere you see me- a wife giving a strongly dis-approving look is a clue as to where i am-good luck on high school game-geez you guys that **** seriously in these states(marlington/dover game was pretty wild)

Masseyratings.com calls Linfield-St Thomas a draw and Whitewater a two touchdown favorite.

NCC's offense could be better than Mount's, defense?? No way

To be fair, here is the actual exchange on the CCIW board:

Mt Union shut out ONU this year. I think NCC's defense is as good as Mt Unions. I don't know if their offense is as good but it should be, given the UMU youth and inexperience. I know NCC's OLine is experienced and the strength of their offense. Defensively, Garza, Hayes and Clendenning are bringing their 25 sack,32 tfl games against a strong and physical OLine. And Wenger is as fast and physical a linebacker as you will ever see in D3. However, this will be the most physical team NCC has played but I do think they are at least better than ONU by the 10pt spread HSCoach has them in the pickem's. It's the playoffs though and NCC has not played well against good teams in the playoffs. However far they make it from here, they will certainly have to earn it. No one can say they have it easy the rest of the way.

Wow, you did a GREAT job in talking Robert in from the ledge! This may be the strongest I've ever heard NCC described.  I'm not challenging the veracity of the statement, it just took me a bit by surprise. If accurate, I certainly feel a whole lot better about them being seeded over UW-W.   NCC should not only be fairly big favorites against ONU (Mount shut them out 27-0).  They should also be the favorites over UW-W if the Warhawks are able to advance past Trine. Mount would certainly be be favored in Alliance against UW-W.  As has been conversed to death, past years' performances enter little into this equation, so NCC's past playoff disappointments really should not be factored in.  The Cardinals MORE than held up their end of the bargain in round 1!

SF!  T-M have a shot this weekend?  This is another one of those "signature games" for the program in my opinion.  If they can go down there and WIN......I would say........"my little boy is all growed UP"!

I hope they can make that happen.......

The OAC lost a member of the family.....Coach Epley fought the good fight.
"In 1995, the Pioneers enjoyed one of their finest campaigns ever. Marietta went 8-1-1 and played in one of the best Division III games in history — a 41-37 loss to Mount Union at Don Drumm Stadium"

reality check

Sad news about Coach Epley.  I had a chance to talk to him during my recruitment at Marietta and liked what I heard.  I just didn't feel like Marietta was a fit academically or geographically but he and the other coaches I was recruited by were good people.

The OAC has lost some very good people this year.

I totally agree with HSCoach's 10 or so point spot in the ONU NCC game and might even argue it s/b 14.5. The P Bears are in for a battle, one that they could conceivably win, but not without a lot of breaks and in the words of many Mt Union opponents, they need to play a perfect games as they did in Alliance a few years back.

one thing to consider, i believe ONU is on break all week.  I dont know if NCC is on the same schedule, but ONU is basically on an NFL schedule this week.

Any updates on the injured Raiders from last week?

Any of this talk reminds me of my favorite Wilford Brimley quote from the Natural when he looked down the dugout at Robert Redford and said, "Son you don't start playing ball at your age, you retire"

NCC is on a quarter system, and has finals this week.  There has been some debate on the CCIW board as to whether this is a distraction of any importance (though all agree no coach or player will use it as an excuse if, god forbid :o, it comes to that)!

PurpleSuit

I would agree that the finals/no finals thing is not a huge deal, but its already a crazy week with the holiday just another event taking time.  isn't is wild that these student athletes can balance academics, major holiday and ncaa playoff football all at the same time....BCS fans dont know what they are missing

Mr. Ypsi

I'm a retired prof, and know that SOME profs will make no accommodations at all for 'jocks' - finals has GOT to be to some extent disruptive (how much is the question).  The flip side, of course, is that IF NCC survives this week, THEIR finals are over, but most opponents will just be approaching theirs! ;)
