Kira & Jaxon's Dad

Something got UMUplayerdad's panties all up in a bunch.

I couldn't understand his posts either...

I still don't know if I understand them.   :D

Just making sure that others are planning on doing the Wing Warehouse thing this Friday evening.  I plan to get there around 8:00.  I have invited the Bethel faithful, but haven't gotten any kind of response.  I even told them there were non-alcoholic beverages available!--

Of course, after the bust for underage this weekend, that may be all that is available. ;D ;D

UMU uses "coach speak" when posting on the board.  Well......."coach speak" if he is a disciple of Bobby Bouche's defensive coordinator in that great movie The Waterboy.   ;D

I've been breaking down film for 45 years (16  at MUC)  not sure what umuplayer dad is talking about either ??? ??? ???

Why would there only be 3 Olineman? And to be honest if there are only 5 guys in the box you should run the ball. The D cant account for the ball carrier.

5 olineman block 5 defenders, if your in an empty sent your qb is the ball carrier and no one can account for him. It is even worse if there is a back and a qb. now 2 guys that the d cant acount for.

On top of all this if it is 3rd or 4th and short and the d is blitzing like you said than that increaes the chance of a big play, because the defenses second level players become limited. Oh yeah and zone scheme's which is what Mount likes to run are great against blitzing teams. Coach Kerhes always said against team that like to blitz to be patient because they may make a play or two for a loss or no gain, but eventually we will catch them and hit a long one.

reality check

Good to see doeder back.  I didn't know he was old enough to have a kid playing at Mount though.  Weird.

From my observations on Saturday, it appeared that Alfred blitzed almost every play.  It was almost like a run blitz (mind you I don't know the difference between a run vs. pass blitz), and they were continually able to stuff the run.  It did leave a HUGE gap in the middle of the field, and once Neal re-calibrated the sight on his rifle (arm), it was an easy pitch and catch most of the day.

I may be looking at the game with Bethel too simplistically, but I can't see them holding Mount to less than mid-20's in points (and I am being generous).  That being the case, I don't think the Bethel offense scores enough to make this a two touchdown game.  And, if the wind isn't howling, and Seaman plays solid, I think the score could easily be something like 35-7.

I know "on any given day" team B can beat team A, but it just doesn't compute.  I think Mount's defense is playing its best football, and in my opinion the offense needs to be just "ok".

Oh...and 8 PM on Friday night works for me.  I was thinking about putting together a little friendly betting pool (purely for FUN of course).   ;)  You pick the winner, and the score.  We use differential to pick a winner.  Anyone interested?

^^Sounds good to me, as long as the "fun" isn't too high.

Thank you for the gracious invite! I wish I was able to go this weekend and would certain join all of you on Friday if I could make the trip.

Unless their coach sounds off about "Smacking Mount in the mouth and running it down their throats", in which case another 61 is not unlikely  >:(

Skunks,

IMHO, Your score is probably correct. Bethel is a true running team and does not rely on the passing game or kicking game for that matter. Since the Raiders's run defense only give up 68 yards per game, I am not seeing how Bethel stays in this game, especially if they are playing from behind. Hopefully, the Raiders come out it healthy and with a win.

What the game does for Mount in terms of preparation is that it focuses them to face another team (maybe) from up North that has a top notch running game and another top RB! :) :)

Completely out of context. Coach J went on record as saying our goal as a team was always to play smash mouth football, play physical and punch the opponent in the mouth. He acknowledged Mt's great D and their talent, but very appropriately said we weren't going to change who we were just because it was Mount. Did it work out that way...not one bit. We took it on the chin. But our goal will be the same, play to our strength. We might fail again, but we aren't going to give up before it even starts by trying to become a passing team just to avoid a very good Mount Union rush D.

What can we expect from Mt as a team? We know about Lambert and Shorts, but anything else to add? What makes this years squad unique from past teams?

Wish I could make the trip but I'll be working Saturday morning and relegated to the video feed. Thanks for the invite to your wing night though!

sidekick:  your overall differential 28 points could very well happen, but I'll wager a $100 in Monopoly money that it won't be 35-7.  Bethel as no kicking game.  None.

And Wing Whorehouse on Friday night sounds good to me.  Already cleared it with the Boss Lady.  Though she is still pissed about Bethel eliminating my trip to Minnesota this weekend.  She was counting on St Thomas for getting her out of my company Christmas party on Saturday night.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

She was counting on St Thomas getting her a trip to the Mall of America while you did your football stuff...
