The schools weren't closed in Northern VA today, although some had a two hour delay.  It's nice today, sunny and warmer with almost no wind.  Tomorrow should be warm for Ohio people and toasty for Wisconsin people.   Growing up in Ohio, I remember colder days in July watchiung the Indians in old Municipal Stadium.

Then why was I home from work with my kids?  ::)  Districts to the South of DC and nearer the mountains (PW, Loudon, Stafford) were closed.  And we had but 2 inches of snow yesterday.

As long as the locals don't get in your way, Buckeyes and Winsconsites should have little problems.

Last year we listened to GPS and spent a year on the winding mountain "shortcut" 311. I am tempted to follow 64 all the way EAST to 81 in Lexington, VA and double back. Is this our best bet for fast roads, or is 220 a decent four lane cut-down? If anybody reads this by 4:45 EST and can offer a word, we're about that far from 220 now. If not, at least I can SEE good road (81) on the OLD FASHIONED ROAD ATLAS we bought last night!

According the predictions of the D3 crew and others the Warhawks will win this game 6 vs. 2 and by average score of 5.7 pts. The Raiders will just have to prove them wrong this year. I believe the consensus last year was UWW as well.

GO RAIDERS, THIS IS YOUR YEAR!

2 out of the 6 picking run UWW Football Websites.  1 out of the 2 picking MTU is the MTU Public Address Announcer.  Take those picks with a grain of salt.

Keith, Pat, Ryan and Gordan Pick UWW, and Frank Rossi Picks MTU.

Keith is picking a 10 point win (24-14) and Ryan is picking a 7 point win (27-20).

The rest of the picks are within 4 points.

Good thing I turned down D3 on writing a take or there would have been a Mount guy picking UWW.  Which would have just completely screwed everything up.

If you can get someone in Vegas to accept a half-point on a score, I'm buying stock in you!   :o

Oh, I/we made that mistake one year too going to The Stagg. ;D  Not a fun drive late at night on the mountain.  Anyway, hang in there, drive safe - you'll make it there eventually.

Found out that my son was approved for annual leave for tomorrow ... one less guy to answer dumb questions about the White House Christmas decorations ("What is this miniature graham cracker White House made out of?") ... so we will be heading down from the D.C.-Maryland outskirts in the morning.
I have not been to a Stagg Bowl since the loss to St. John's ... the first (and last) Stagg Bowl where I brought the wife along!  Since then, the Air Force assignments and civilian life demands/domicile locale (living in Tampa) did not permit it.  Then, the youngest daughter had the audacity to graduate college on last year's Stagg Bowl game-day!  (But that seemed to have a lot of "good" to it except the game's final outcome.)
My son has not been to the championship game since the FG win over St. John's, so he will do his best to conjure up a reminiscent mojo that will make Frank Rossi's prediction come true!
We will be staying overnight on Saturday, and with $182 in Hooter's gift cards accumulated, we will drink a toast to ANY team if you care to join us!
Cheers! to one and all!!!  Be safe ... be warm ... be happy ... be CHAMPIONS!!!

(Reality Check:  Hope all is well with you and your's!)

At your own peril, MW. I've picked 29 UW-W games correctly in a row!  ;D

My bad.  I have a bad habit of only thinking of Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax as Northern VA.

:D  +k A72 ... a lot of people do.  But only the rich Yankees are funneled into AAF.  Us regular folks go to Manassas (which looks a bit like Alliance!).

I'm sure most of us picked MTU over Rowan in 1999 and UMHB in 2004 but somehow the underdog found a way to end the 54 and 55 game win streaks then also.  ;)
