Starting to get obvious if Mount Union was in the MIAC or WIAC they would have many more loses - At least the last few years.

I will never understand comments like this...a 10 point win over mount union and people are acting as if mount union didn't belong at this game...then someone will say they had 5 turnovers and played sloppy...yeah well ww had 4 turnovers and played sloppy too

this nonsense with Mount losing more games if they were in the West or in a "better" conference is funny to me...especially this year when the WIAC was down as a whole and they man handled the MIAC's #2 team who was pretty even with the MIAC #1 team...

people need to give credit where it is due and realize that just because Mount Union finally loses a game every season now instead of their usual 0 losses that they are not a bad football team...add in the fact they have a ton of underclassmen playing or on the team and I would say that Mount Union is still the program you would make a blue print of and hand out to every other DIII team and tell them to follow it if they want to have success and sustain it

doesn't LK only have a whopping 25 losses out of 300+ games or something crazy like that?  and people are talking about his teams having MANY more losses...what does many equal to a LK coached MU team? 2?

Certainly concur with all of the above, we will all miss the seniors and the many great Saturdays they provided to all of us. These two teams are the class of not just Division 3, but truly embody what being a STUDENT-Athlete is all about. Hats off to the Warhawks on their first back to back, and a quick trivia question- who besides Mount was the last back to back D-III champ?

I think the only other back-to-back was Augustana who won four in a row.

I was just looking at the scores over the six game series.  It couldn't be closer - Mount has outscored WW 171-170.  I wonder what the odds are that two teams could play six games and only be separated by a point.

After going ahead 21-10, Mount needed one more good thing to happen to change field position and it didn't.  The interceptions were like Whitewater punts and Coppage and the Whitewater punter kept the field position in Whitewater's favor.

Congrats to Mt. and www they both played like champs.  I think LK needed some breaks today to win and they didn't happen but overall a great season for the young purples.  The best team won today. Mt. needs a big bruising back to compliment our little guys.  Hard to win w/o a running game.  WWW is king of the hill but next year will be here before you know it.   All in all a great year for Mt.   We'll be back.

Congratulations WWW. You played like champions.

Congratulations MU. You rose to the challenge, a very young team, and yesterday's game will make you better. Thanks Senior leaders. I don't want to call the roll because it is daunting to acknowledge the sheer heart and force and skill that Mount is graduating in 2011.

Looking for our next big, tall tight end to appear. Here's hoping Neal Seaman heals completely, Piloto summers in Alliance (Florida's too hot in the summer anyway), practicing routes with our receivers, and the confident, contented, somnambulant fans wake up and start making some noise. Those Whitewater fans rocked the house yesterday.

Proud to be a Kehresma.

What a game yesterday.  Up...down....up....down.  Not the cleanest played game, but certainly very entertaining.  I was very excited to see our defense stone Coppage in the beginning, but that kid just keeps on coming.  What GREAT moves.......his lateral movement is some of the best I have ever seen at this level.

I was very impressed with UWW's d-backs.  They made plays at just the right time, while ours made a few mistakes at crucial moments.  Chaz Jordan was our best cover corner all year, but he got beat a few times today.  It happens....

I said all year that our running game was lacking, and knew that against the big boys (UWW), it might come back to bite us.  That's exactly what happened.

I hope this wasn't the end of an era, because I sure would have loved to see a victory if it was.  I think there is going to be some very interesting "developments" in Alliance in the next month or so.  Here's hoping it's not as crazy as some of the rumors that have been floating out there.

And no, I don't have any direct information (unlike other times), but I think there is possibly some fire with all the smoke that has been rising from Alliance.

Most D3 schools do not have D1 transfers attending on a "Leadership" scholarship...it is a successful program but to compare it to the majority of D3 colleges is like comparing Ohio State's and Akron's programs. Just the way I see it.

Another great contest by two stellar programs.  Congrats to UMU on a terrific season and especially your seniors.  The same two teams meeting in the championship game six year in a row has never happened before in college football at any level.  Nice making history with you guys.   Let's do it again next year.   ;) ;D

Close...but I think it's 23 losses and 3 ties after last night.  Not bad to average one non-win a year for your career.

They almost had a good thing happen right at the end of the half when it looked like they stopped Whitewater on third down.  Then came the call that Whitewater had been flagged for a false start.  After being pushed back five yards, they went in and scored a touchdown.  I said to the guy next to me after that score, "Whitewater was lucky to get called for that penalty.  I hope it doesn't make the difference."

Wow, two years in a row with a substitute QB. We got beat in too many facets of the game. Fumbles, drops, mental errors and,,,,,oh yeah WW played very well. Time to drown my sorrows in a Hotel Roanoke Steak dinner.

A lot of talented soph's and frosh out there today. 300 some days to get psyched for purple bowl 7.

Seventies, you forgot one thing in your list of things Mount Union didn't do to win today...they didn't force you to stand over the endzone.  I saw you and Keven in the stands where you're not suppossed to be!   ;)

I was texting with SmallButSlow during the game (since we didn't make the trek to VA this year) and he made what I think is an astute observation in that it seems like UWW has had the advantage (for the most part) in the kicking game in these 6 match-ups in the Stagg Bowl.

UWW makes their FG and their punter continuously was pinning MTU deep in their own territory.  MTU missed their FG (would have made it 24-24 for a while, but don't know if that matters if they couldn't stop Coppage) and MTU punter was not very effective.

Field Position was huge in the second half.  Raiders never really turned that one around.

If you want to have some fun, go read the two most recent posts on the Liberty League Board.  They are talking about how LK was out coached because he took reps away from Piloto in practice so Shorts could work at QB and how if Shorts was that good, he should have been the QB all year.

QuoteBack to work: When asked about the current run of success being enjoyed by Whitewater -- which has won three of the past four Stagg Bowls, Kehres had a tongue-in-cheek response.

"They're kind of ticking me off," Kehres said. "I'm going to have to kick myself into gear so maybe we can win the next three out of four."

"Tongue-in-cheek?" Hope not. That's EXACTLY how I'm feeling, and there ain't no tongue-in-cheek about it!  ;D You go, LK!

I also complimented the hell out of MUC.  God forbid someone question what Larry Kehres does....he's a great coach......how can you not question the decisions he made a QB?

Ther's nothing wrong with questioning Kehres.  As a fan who wanted to see Shorts get more touches and with the success of Cam Newton, Terrell Pryor and Denard Robinson,  I also wonder what Shorts could've done as the quarterback.  But, that's the coach's decision who has a lot more to consider.   I'm sure it's better for Shorts as he wouldn't get a look at the next level as a quarterback.
