I just wanted to thank Lenny and his Sports Information staff for the amazing growth of professional coverage of Mount Union Athletics.

Now Len, try to get a couple of days with the family before y'all dive into swimming, wrestling, indoor track and mens/womens basketball.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Mount Union has been the king of d3 football but I hate to say this Winsconsin Whitewater is kicking them out of that spot :'(

I don't think you're sorry at all and despite your screen name, I suspect you're a Whitewater fan.  I don't think anyone connected with Mount or anyone over 12 years old would deliberately misspell Wisconsin in two different postings.

D O.C.

UMU was really, really tough. UWW was equally tough and had the best back in the country. For the impartial observer it was an all out gut game.
Thx.

Actually, I blame Lenny for the loss on Saturday.  And last year too.

BLR (before Lenny Reich), Mount was 10-2 in Stagg Bowls.

ALR (after Lenny Reich), Mount is 0-2.

Coincidence?  I think not!

As the former president of the Kurt Rocco Fan Club, I'm stepping forward to initiate the "Lenny Must Go" movement.  Please send donations ASAP to help in this worthwhile cause.

" Mount Union is still the program you would make a blue print of and hand out to every other DIII team and tell them to follow it if they want to have success and sustain it"

Most D3 schools do not have D1 transfers attending on a "Leadership" scholarship...it is a successful program but to compare it to the majority of D3 colleges is like comparing Ohio State's and Akron's programs. Just the way I see it.

.....name a few of the D1 transfers.  Just curious, because I haven't seen them on the roster over the past few years.

I don't think Div I transfers give Mount or anyone else an unfair advantage.  I don't know about Piloto, but I would think most Div I to Div III transfers turn out to not have Div I talent.  If they had Div I talent and just didn't fit in or had problems at one school, they would likely be picked up by another Div I school.   There's always one with lower standards.  That Oregon quarterback, Massoli (sp?), was in all kinds of trouble but was picked up by someone (Mississippi?) because he can play.   What does give Mount and others an advantage is finding undiscovered Div I talent such as Garcon and Shorts.   But that's just a combination of the coaching staff working to find those players and/or the players finding the school because of the school's reputation.   I doubt it has much to do with offering "leadership" scholarships.

ESPNU provided excellent play by play, but the sideline reporter's comments were seldom useful.  Especially puzzling were the asides promoting the UConn women's basketball game being aired on the network during a tense moment of the game.

I think that was a (failed IMO) attempt to compare the "dynasty" of UConn BBall to what Whitewater and Mount Union have accomplished. Seemed to be focused on the whole "raising the profile of the sport" side of it. Considering the timing, it's not a surprise, but comparing women's basketball to football is apples and oranges, simply due to roster sizes

HScoach,

Any word if AJ Claycomb will return for a final year? He would no doubt
help fill the the void left for C. Shorts and K. Miller! :)

Last year you posted the returning starters as part of the 2-deep roster. Going into next year the Raiders will have most of all the starters returning.

Starting to get obvious if Mount Union was in the MIAC or WIAC they would have many more loses - At least the last few years.

Really?  Because they're 3-3 in the National Championship over the last six years you'd give them more losses?  If they had 15 National Championships under their belt, would you be satisfied?  They lost by 10 points to the defending Champions, you act like they lost by 40.  The Raiders were in the game to the end.

Congrats to the Warhawks on a fantastic game.  Great special teams play (both in the net punts and punt coverage) and two big runs from Coppege were the difference makers.

Congrats to Mount on another great year.  It'll be interesting to see what happens next season, when JCU breaks their slump and wins the OAC.   :)

According to the article posted last week about Piloto, he walked-on at the Florida school and never played.  He never "signed" D-I, so would not be a transfer.  I just get tired of the "transfer" accusations that are thrown at UMU year-after-year.......

Having been around the program, I didn't see a lot/if any transfers from "higher", scholarship divisions.  Kids like Garcon (transfer from another D-III), Shorts, Miller, et.al., were simply the results of Mount finding them and developing them.

Wow. I have heard it all now.  Coach K. took a team of soph. to the stagg bowl and lost a close game .  The move to put Shorts a QB was great.  It almost worked.  When the 2009 stagg was over I said if the 10 reg. season teams could not beat Mount in 2010 shame on them, and if the 4 playoff teams didn't , shame on them.  That left only UWW and they were the favorite to me.  Why? A great RB.  It was disappointing to lose, yet, I am very excited about the future. I got to believe Mount can do better then 5 turnovers, a short punt, a missed FG,first time starter at QB, 2 linemen inj. and a little more of a ground game.  My final improvement would be to hold Coppage under 200 yds. Great job UWW,  you have shown Mount what they need to do in next's year game.  Now  will see if they can get it done.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me a stud D-I transfer RB!  I will be very happy to be called "Little OSU", or "Buckeye Light".  HELL YAH!   ;)
