I was just forwarded a news article confirming VK is one of four finalists at Lacrosse. I'm grateful for all he has done and the success we have had while he has been working a Mount, on the other hand, I hope he is back at Mount this summer.

Likewise! But the opportunities it presents for VK are tremendous and with the success he's accomplished in a relative short time i think it's only a matter of time someone will grab him up. BEST OF LUCK VK!!

I also would like to see VK return this fall, but I find it very interesting that UWW's most contentious conference rival could be coached by a Mount man! ;D ;D

I wish Vince and family all the luck in the world, but what bothers me is who follows him to cheese land.

Does anyone besides me think Dan Pugh got screwed on the All-Decade team?

Seventies,

Agree, Dan should have been part of the All-Decade team!

VK, IMHO, is the leading candidate for the UWL HC position, but does
he really want it if offered? :-\

No.  He was great, but clearly behind Moore IMHO.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Raider 68, why do you think he would be the leading candidate?

My guess is that Tony Jennison, head coach at Macalester College in Minnesota, is the leading candidate. He is a UWL graduate and a member of the '92 and '95 National Championship teams. Played for Roger Harring. However, I don't know of his coaching resume.

Keith Moreland, played DI and is currently recruiting coordinator and coaching DI and played in the NFL. He's from Wisconsin. Probably would be a good choice too.

Not too sure having a pedigree like Kehres would automatically make him the leading candidate, IMO. Looking forward to see who they select. UWL's AD says he would like to make the final decision the week of Feb. 7, according to the article I saw in the La Crosse Tribune.  ;)

BoBo,

My thoughts were based just on coaching and where. Jennison being an UWL alum and former player would give an advantage in terms of connection, but it is how they each interview and connect with the decision makers that will decide it, IMHO :)

Well, if you remember correctly, Jennison spent some years at Marietta College as the Defensive Coordinator when they turned it around under Todd Glaser.  He is a great guy and I would think he would be a front runner having been an alum.  He definitely led Macalester to its first winning season since 1986.

Agreed, connecting to those on the interview panel and AD are very important attributes. Maybe equally or more important to where you are coaching or have coached IMO. Considering who UW-River Falls selected, I don't think they based it on just coaching and where!!  ;) I would expect similar things out of UWL. Interestingly, 2 of the 4 UWL finalists are UW-RF left-overs!  ;)

Moore was better and more complete than Pugh, IMO.  I alson think that Pugh's  presence helped keep Moore's stats down...I really believe that if Moore did not have to split carries, and we could count his playoff stats he would have similar or better numbers than Kmic.
I think he is the best back ever to play at MU, but that is my opinion and I have only been watching Mount since 72...

raiderpa,

I agree. Nate was a great back and had those unbelievable numbers, but I were able to choose one back in D3 over the decade it would be Chuck Moore. He was IMHO, the most complete back over that period! :)

Moore and Pugh were very different runners. Not sure whether having Dan helped or hurt Chuck's stat's. Dan was a pretty decent blocker and more than an idle threat.  I know it was pretty distracting to any defense to have the pair of them in the backfield. Obviously, as a Mogadore guy I certainly wasn't offering to downgrade Chucks status, but I still have the 2002 Stagg stuck in my mind with Dan recording 49 carries, 253 yards, 4 touchdowns to go with his Gagliardi Trophy. Seems to me he is at least third or fourth team.

I agree seventies raider that Pugh was a great back in his own right and deserves all recognition he got, I just feel Moore suffered statistically by sharing carries and receptions.
