Although I obviously never heard one of your broadcasts due to being around my Hope team on those Saturdays, nonetheless, I would just join in with the others in generally thanking you for doing that service.  A very neat way of giving back.  At the same time, like the others have already said, I also understand and commend you for your decision.  In some aspects, it is a tough decision in giving up something that you've enjoyed and an activity that means a lot to you and many other people. Yet, indeed, we all know that anyone only gets one chance at enjoying and experiencing your own kids in their sports and other activities - so I join the others in agreeing with you that you made the right decision!  Obviously, you'll still follow Mount Union football so it won't be like a "total abandonment"!  I've often wondered how some of these college coaches who have their own sons/daughters playing in college and can't get there to see them because of their own coaching duties feel/handle it.  While I'm sure their own kids understand, at the same time, I can't imagine it isn't tough for both parties.

Anyway, all the best to you in...the next chapter!

Wow, that puts it all in perspective, doesn't it? Too bad that so many collegiate players today (I dare say in the "big time") don't have a clue.  Also, I'm sure that many of you/us have most likely known a coach like this in our lifetimes.  As you say, don't take anything for granted; yes, thanks for sharing this story.  I hadn't heard about it.

Parents and fans often never understand the hours, the dollars and the total commitment the vast majority of coaches invest in their "work."  Years ago I asked Mogadore Head Football Coach Scott Pollock how much he made for coaching. He laughingly said, "About a quarter an hour." As I was getting ready to hang it up a few years back, I told Scott, "You lied, you were about 50 cents high"

Ain't that the truth, seventies?!! I can certainly join you and attest to that. ;D

Holy Cow, Raider68, I hadn't even noticed nor considered paying attention to the count.  Just means I've been here a long time - you know, one of those "old guys". ;D  Anyway, thanks for the +k.  BTW, you are "getting up there" yourself! :)

Nice article from Pluto on the MUC wrestling team:

I know we have many on here who are tied to the armed forces so I thought this part would be a point of pride for you all, especially Blutarsky who I know is a big supporter of the ROTC program at Mount:

There was a crash, screams and the bus stopped.
"We had to do something," said Malave. "I told Andy Jenkins to get up front and take over. He is in the ROTC. He knows what to do."
The junior from Woodridge High did just that, enlisting some of the other wrestlers to help set up flares on the road. Others called 9-1-1 for help on their cell phones.
