An unfortunate comment was made to my son and a couple of teammates the other day by a former Mt. Union player. I do not feel it is indicative of how the program really feels however. This ex-player first of all stated that in 2008 he started and was all conference at WR. He actually did not and only caught 4 balls. He also stated that schools such as Otterbein are a waste to D3 football and should just give it up since they are so bad and basically that Otterbein and programs like theirs stink as do their players and that no one at Otterbein would even play at The Mount.

Proud of my kid and his teammates who just walked away but I am sure not how most of you would like the Mount to be represented.

That kid sounds like an ass hat. there's those types of kids at every school, unfortunately.

Name the goofs name. "Out" the goof.  I am sure his teammates,if he was even on the team, will tell us what we need to know.

Bein_86,

What is your take on a QB named Pentello for this fall? :-\

Rocco is a great athlete. He has not played a lot of QB since HS but his skills seem to still be there. The Bein does have Schlosser returning too and he has started the last 16 games for the Cardinals and is a big time competitor. I think the competition will be stiff. I think if they are both at their best, Pentello may be better, but we will have to see how much rust is there. Schlosser is the known entity and the players and coaches are very confident in what he can do.

The one thing I do know about Rocco is that he is a leader and winner from a great pedigree.

It will be an adjustment for the Cards this year without Coy in the backfield. The experience is at wideout , therefore it will be interesting to see who can get the ball to the playmakers.

Schlosser is in his senior year and although Pentello is a 2007 grad he technically has 2 years left if he chooses to use them. I hope they both have been putting in a lot of time over the summer. There are two other QB's in the mix. Kincade and Wood (transferred last year from EKU).

Thanks for the post on the QB's! :)

I'm starting to wonder if the lockout might actually have been a boon for small college players.

With no OTA's, mini-camps or early offseason free agency this year coaches, scouts and GM's had a lot more time on their hands for scouting and watching game tape. Maybe this extra time allowed them to take a longer than usual look at some the diamonds in the rough from the DII/III ranks that might otherwise have gotten only a cursory glance.

Whatever the reason for the uptick in DIII UFA signings, I love the trend! Here's to hoping they all (if not the majority) make rosters and are able to make significant impacts like the Garcon's before them.

reality check

Been locked up for three days for our football camp so I am all caught up now on the last four pages of posts.  (And glad that's over; football camp I mean).

I can confirm the Trusnik news on his signing with the Dolphins.  Lenny Trusnik posted the news on his brother's signing on LT's Facebook account the other day.

As for the kid from Mount.  I looked him up and can't even recall hearing or reading his name before.  His best football days were obviously playing on another OAC field; but it was as a high school player, not an OAC'in general or as a member of the Purple Raiders.

Purple Raiders  start  Aug 17, and it can't come too soon.

Word is that Mount had the best turn out ever of players (40?) staying in A-town all summer to work out and get ready.

Sounds like qb  position is Seaman's to lose, and would not be surprised to see him use more of his running skills this year. Oshkosh has a tough opener with Central Iowa and that is a real advantage coming into Mount for the Raider opener.

Will have to check out the D3 Kickoff for the scouting report on Oshkosh....I am sure it will be right on, as usual.

Getting pumped for college football and hope all the d3ers who got invites to NFL camps have great performances...

The new agreement is actually a great thing for rookie players at all levels.

Sorry to see Trusnik leave Cleveland. He plays with a lot of heart.

OAC preview s/b coming up soon. Hint hint Lenny (:>)

raiderpa,

I heard the same things, but that the QB competition would be really a battle between Seaman and Piloto.
Who knows Coach Kehres could use them both depending on the game situation, like 2003 between Bruney and Burkhart.
IMHO, Seaman may have the edge based upon all of last year at QB (except for the injury). :)

Not a bad thing to have competition at QB again. I hope it's resolved very early

agree, I don't think that Seaman did anything to lose the #1 spot...

Reid Kagy...are you really telling people you were All-Conference? The OAC member schools deserve our respect. I notice I remember being better than I was as I get older but All-Conference?  I'm going to have to out live an awful lot of people to get away with that one.
