We sure are, Jacket. Best of luck to B.W. Hope you have a great season, as predicted this year.

Knock knock...from the NCAC board...(and now, sunny FL)...

When will the OAC pick 'em be posted?

Hey Smed ... thanks for the wake-up call.

I offered to run the Pick-Ems awhile ago if I could get someone else with a bit more football background to help with the spreads.  [Cue the crickets!]

So, I offer three alternatives ...

[1] I run the pick-em and set the spreads, even tho they will suck something awful.
[2] I run the pick-em and some kind person helps me with the spreads.
[3] I run the pick-em and the winner of each week sets the spreads for the next week.
[4] I run the pick-em without spreads.
[5] Someone else does this.

Personally, I think option 3 is pretty rad.  But if no one responds, we go with option 1 or 4 [until everyone quits playing!]

So let's hear it ... Ric is Casper ... what do y'all want?

Mom

I vote for option #3 or #4.

Anybody make it out to the scrimmage today?

Some positive surprises, rising talent. And work yet to be done, which I'm sure it will be. Nothing has been so impressive to me these years as the coaches' ability to address what's needed and the team emerges exponentially  better. Mt did not clearly  dominate on either side of the ball. Friday. That said, we seemed to have a LOT more time of possession. WJ made several big pass plays. Can't wait till Sept 10. And grateful for every day of practice between now and then. (Especially since I'm not going through it.   8-))

GO RAIDERS!! ELEVEN in 11!!

I think they need to have spreads. I can help with the spreads sometimes, but my new job has a heavy travel schedule. I can also help pick some interesting games around the nation. The issue is that I can't guarantee that I'd have time to do the whole enchilada thanks to a new job with heavy travel in a new area.

Spreads are a definite plus (matching wits with HSCoach and Wally Wabash kept ho-hum games interesting, even if I usually proved myself witless :P).  If that is not feasible, the CCIW Pickems has an alternative that has some of the same components - confidence picks.  With five conference games a week in the OAC, you label your 'most confident' pick as 5, on down to 1 for a 'tossup'.  Some weeks I'd give them all 4s or 5s if I could, but others I fear labeling anything higher than a 2 if I didn't have to.  But, of course, the key is that you have to.

In the MIAA Pickems, I abandoned both strategies and tried to overcome the weeks where there would be no separation (EVERY conference game would get picked mostly the same) by including national games that generally got a LOT of separation.

How did everyone's scrimmages go?

Kyle Miller survived the Monday morning cut. Two more must go tomorrow

The longer that Kyle lasts, the better chance he will have of making the practice squad or being picked up by another team.

Hope he makes with the Jags, and I agree that he still has a good chance to be picked up by another team.
The fact that he is a good tight end with great hands really helps his case! :)

OK ... time to get this party started!

The 2011 OAC Pick-Ems will start up again tomorrow.  The contest is open to anyone, whether a regular of the OAC page or not.

We pick all the OAC games, plus a few national games of interest.  OAC league games are worth 2 points, national and non-conference games are worth 1 point.

All games are picked with spreads.

I'll be posting the spreads on Monday nights for that week's games.  [For this week only, I'll post them on Tuesday]  The participants' picks must be in by Saturday noon EST (Eastern time).  No exceptions.

The week's results will be posted on  Sunday morning.

When posting the picks, please be clear who you're picking.  "Bolding" is fine, but more elaborate methods don't print well enough to distinguish.

Although I cannot replace HSCoach and the great job he has done over the years, I will do my best to make this fun for all of us.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Thanks for answering the challenge.  I'm sure it will go well.

Sadly, today the depth chart no longer lists him as a long snapper and as the number 5 TE. On the good side Cecil is the number two WR on  oneside and they are using him in promotions

The Jags. had to cut a couple more by the end of today.....could be bad news.  I noticed that Cecil was also used in the last game to return punts....they are interested in getting him some touches.  Our son is headed from Fort Stewart to Jacksonville for the pre-season game this week to visit with Cecil (and hopefully Kyle!).

Seventies,

Where are you finding this depth chart? ESPN still shows K.Miller as a LS, but they are probably not current. :-\
