zac lemmon is down the depth chart and if you watch him run it is obvious that he does not possess the speed or quickness of the three backs in front of him, or for that matter, two more behind him.  He is a solid dependable back, but just doesnt show the speed or quickness of his past years.

Thought it was interesting that the freshman from Minerva, Prendergast, got 9 carries this week.  Guess that's the luxury of a game like that one.  He and Burke got their first snaps at RB and QB, respectively.  Always fun to get a peak at the next group of kids coming.

I might be looking through crimson & gray colored glasses being a Minerva guy, but I think Prendergast is going to be a very good player at Mount before he's done.  He's small (5'-7", 170 lbs), but he's lighting quick.  Especially on the artificial turf.  Very much like Zach Weber was at ONU.  If he can add 10-15 pounds and keep his speed, he's going to be a player.

I couldn't be more happy about the Crusaders' big win on Saturday.  I know it's early, but I think Cap might be a little better than I expected.

I don't necessarily think the OAC is "more down" than usual, I just think that, with the exception of Wilma, that the conference has become more competitive and the traditional "bottom feeders" are now capable of winning a few games and everyone outside of MUC is "bunching up."

There is not much difference, in my mind, between Musky, Berg, ONU, BW, Cap, and OTT.  That's 2nd thru 7th right there, and I think there are going to be a few more "upsets" among those teams that are going to shake up the standings.

JCU and Etta are just outside that group and then Wilma is, hands down, the worst in the conference.

I really think that the 2nd place OAC team is going to have at least 2 losses this year.  If that's good enough for the playoffs is up to the committee.

I know Musky is 3-0 right now, but I think the Berg might be the team that winds up 2nd.

For you Mount Union guys:

Garcon played very well last evening against Pittsburgh and almost won the game for Indy.  It is too bad he didn't get that extra support from his teammates in the waning minutes of the game.  Had Painter made that long pass to him that was overthrown, that would obviously have been a TD and I think, quite possibly, may have won the game for Indy by chaning the "momentum" and attitude of the game (say a "shock value" just then, especially when Garcon put such a fantastic move on a 9 year NFL veteran CB), even though Pittsburgh was able to move the ball fairly easily in the waning minutes.  Anyway, too bad some of his other teammates couldn't step up further to help him out and pull out the win.  Somehow, Pittsburgh always seems to win those type of games.  I think Indy is in for a tough season, unfortunately.  On the other hand, I'm not quite ready to "fully jump on the bandwagon" for our own Detroit Lions just yet - it is way too early! ;D  Your thoughts on the Garcon and the Indy game? ???

Couldnt agree more with post. Cap kept its close and won at the end.

formerd3db,

Good post and I agree with you PG had a good game except for the one drop. I guess without a Peyton or a good QB, a top receiver group that Indy has cannot contribute if the passes miss their target! We'll see what happens going forward. Your alma mater has a tough one Saturday! :)

I've never seen him play, but when I looked him up on the roster and saw his height/weight I immediately thought "sounds like a Dave Hassey type".  Can Prendergast catch the ball well?

Oh yes, Dave Hassey--I had him in class and he was pi$$ed off when he was introduced at the dinner and the Rowan Transfers laughed out loud at his size--as I remember, he pretty much ran it down their throats all game long!

Who won that one??  Oh yeah, the Purple Raiders (I think that was the same game that the Rowan "fans" were chanting (early on), "Fags wear purple!")
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Dave Hassey is the perfect comparison.  +k for remembering the name that kept eluding m feeble brain.  Predergast can definitely catch the ball.  He played a lot of slot receiver in HS.

Hey Dad, you might want to use an e-mail address to register/post from that doesn't have your boy's name in it. :o  The coaching staff might not appreciate the public comments from a player's family.  Just saying.
