Chicken Hawks?   Warchickens?  What are you - 12?  From the outside looking in, I believe you must be referring to that team in Wisconsin that has bitch-slapped you 3 of the last 4 times you've played.  Sweet retort.  I'm sure MU is proud to list you among one of its alums!!!!

Oh boy.....looks like you're not going to make too many friends on this thread.

Methinks that Ice01 hasn't been around the boards long enough to know that Mount Union and Whitewater fans are prone to some lighthearted (yet respectful) ribbing on here...

Missed every second of the game this weekend.  Spent the entire weekend moving to a new home and still don't have internet (like I even had time to think about following the game while moving to a new residence)...

I am happy that ONU played Mount tough.  I thought they'd play the Raiders tight (relative to the spread lol) and I'm proud of their effort in spite of the fact that a majority of the purple faithful have to qualify the game's final score with whatever justification they need.  You guys got the W.  Just leave it at that.  If you need to see games played in perfect conditions without qualifiers, consider becoming a fan of badminton or something.  I do appreciate the Mount posters that don't need to complain about mud or wind or flying monkeys.  Thanks for just taking the W and moving along.

As for 8-2 and a playoff spot, I don't see that happening.  Musky would need to go 8-2 as well for ONU to even sniff that chance and force a scenario similar to 2005 between Mount/ONU/CAP.  Of course, winning against Mount in 2005 still wasn't enough to get ONU in over CAP.  Maybe they'll be on the other end of that equation this year but I think the chances are very, very slim.

1.  Good thing you have a photographic memory... ok, need me to paint the picture a little better??  No internet = the need for spank bank material to be remembered.

2.  Are there any rules on the thread yet??  If not, I nominate one... LOL.... please use hahaha or the like so hscoach can't question your persuasion.

3.  Congrats on your team's schedule.  Sounds like you've play/have played some great teams.  Keep working them hard and it'll pay off.

4.  Agree with you 100%, the Mounties got ONU's best shot.  I'm sure DP and staff had their attention all week after what happened the previous Saturday.  SIDE NOTE:  Those of you insinuating Dean Paul had anything to do with that field being wet or muddy, had bands marching on it, presence of birds pooping on it, wind not blowing on it enough, or the sun gods not being present enough to help dry it out don't know DP very well.  A more honorable man and coach you will not meet.  Not on any level.  Think of LK, but not dressed in purple.  Thats just one of his many influences.  Enough said.

Just interested in some analysis from the MUC faithful on whether the score of Saturday's game was indicative of the weather or a closing in the talent gap? Or, perhaps, just a bad game by MUC and a good game by ON?

Talent gap closing?  Bad weather?  ONU that good?  NO.....NO......NO....

It was a combination of 2 & 3, and the fact that historically Mount plays a game or two like that every season.  That is not taking anything away from ONU, because obviously they had something to do with it.

LK doesn't believe in point spreads, style points, and/or any other happy horse**** anyone wants to spout.  To him....and win is a win is a win.  ESPECIALLY when the weather is bad, and you are playing a quality opponent.

And NO Bench......UST shouldn't now be the #2 because they FINALLY overcame the voodoo, our Catholic mojo is better than your Catholic mojo, we have more fans HEX that SJU used against you for all those years.   ;)

"Closing the talent gap?".  Bench, such a question you would ask.  It's more likely the team dinner the night before contained disagreeable bacteria.    ;D

This has remnants of the great SJU/St. Olaf "Muddy Field" conspiracy from a few years back.

"Bitch-slapped?"  -1 for hyperbole; -2 for gutter-level slang; "outside looking in?" - stay on the outside, please.

No knowledgeable Mount fan fails to give Dean Paul and Northern credit for being up for a Homecoming matchup against Mount Union. On the other side of argument, 17 attempted passes and ONE running back carrying 41 times says Mount was playing a very deliberate ball control game.

How does practicing on turf hurt them in a Stagg Bowl that is played on turf?
Thanks for asking, I was wondering the same thing

As a UWW fan and parent, and someone that truly respects the Mount Union program and tradition. I want to assure all Mount Union fans that the post above does not reflect our mutual respect.

As I figure Ice01 is a WIAC supporter- if this was his first time reading the OAC boards- and not knowing anything about the personalities here- I can see where he might get fired up .  I learned it takes a little time and practice (and tongue biting) to get used to some of the senses of humor.  I remember the first time I started reading posts from Seventiesraider, bitchslap would have been one of the kinder words running through my mind.  ;)  But that was a long time ago and now I look forward to his posts.

Other than the stadium itself, I believe Mount's practice fields are grass.  The we're not used to grass argument really does not hold up.  LK chose to play a very conservative game.  I didn't like it, but as I said earlier, I'm not second guessing the guy with 300+ wins.  ONU played very well-but I'm just repeating my earlier post.

As far as the band marching on the field - they did; pre-game and half time.  IMO it was a poor choice to do so, because it made conditions worse for both teams.
