Quote from: Shark on October 27, 2011, 08:06:00 AMI could see UWW or UST moving to the North and Mount possibly still heading East but you never know what that committee will do.

Can we really call it "heading East" when Mount Union will likely be a #1 seed and all teams would have to travel through Alliance?  Well, assuming that Mount makes it through the next three weeks unscathed, that is.

Kinda tired of whipping on the little sisters of the poor in the East. Sorry Alfred

Seventies,

Agree, +K  but the Raiders have the only control of winning their final 3 games and see what the NCAA gods
come up with for these playoffs. I guess we should start following the logical East region teams again! :-\

Masseyratings.com gives BW a 2% chance of beating Mount Union. I think that is generous

Anything above 0% in the OAC is generous.

D3Football's Regional ratings are probably real close to what the NCAA comes out with on 11-2-11, but the NCAA will have this weekend's games to include, We'll see! :)

If the top five "hold serve", I can't see how Mount ISN'T going East.

EAST - UMU
NORTH - UWW
SOUTH - MHB
WEST - UST

Linfield would be a very strong two seed in the West.

I think there's a lot of truth to this possibility, assuming teams win out.  If there's a bottle-neck of teams from the West, then the best way to make room for them all is to have Mount in the East which opens up a slot in the North.   That North slot then goes to probably UWW although someone could try and make an argument for it being St. Thomas and keeping UWW out West.   At any rate, we'll have a clearer picture (well, that's relative considering it is the NCAA afterall!) once next week's regional rankings come out.  Either way, there's still some surprises likely in store in the last few weeks of the regular season.

Depending on the make-up (location) of the other north region teams making the playoffs, UWW being 200 + miles closer to the closest North Region schools would seem to make them them the "logical" choice.  (IMO)

Trying to predict what the D3 football playoff committee will do is EXACTLY like predicting what the stewards in horse racing will do regarding an inquiry or objection, i.e. IMPOSSIBLE.

For those about to pick, WE SALUTE YOU!!!

Weekly reminder to get you picks in before Noon Saturday (or before the first kickoff).

ALSO, for those who have may already made picks, we added the Massillon/McKinley game to the roster.  If EVERYONE makes a pick, I'll count it.  [Afterall, they'll probably outdraw the UMU/OTT game!]
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

This would be fun.

I saw that this morning, too.  Wonder what our TMQ friend will think about still throwing for TDs in the fourth and winning by 35+.

Even though...9 TDs is impressive!  I remember watching an interview with YA Tittle about his 7 TD pass game with the Giants.  He said that at the time it seemed in poor taste to go back out and try for the record setting 8th, but that now he'd go back out and "let it fly."

I agree it is a sticky situation, but I will add he left the game with 8 minutes left. This is the type of dilema UMU deals with on a weekly basis.

As A WR's father, I wish the Bein threw it around like that, but we consider ourselves a running team.

Wait, a running team who is 7th in the OAC in rushing and 1st in the OAC in passing? I'm confused

They pass reluctantly. If we get the lead in a game we stop throwing and run the ball. I am not complaining that is just what has been done. Against BW we went up 21-20 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd qtr and had thrown for 329, we ended up at about 350 and lost 27-21. We tried to run out the clock. Similar against Capital (lost 24-20), but we just never threw. They threw 60 times, us 23.

I am sure UMU will come out to stop our passing game, but we really won't try and do much of that.

I really like our staff and don't understand, but it is not my job to coach. They have forgotten more than I will ever know, but it is fun to watch my kid make some catches from time to time although I doubt we will see that tomorrow.
