I never thought I would type this but: I don't think Mount gets back to Stagg this year. As good as the defense is - the offense leaves me worried. Inconsistent play and too many mistakes. For the first time in the last 17 years I am not excited about the playoffs.

Can't understand anyone who see's this years teams as any way not better than last years

I think for me it is that I see a solid defense and a good offense but the offense is not consistent. It has been discussed on here with a few Mount teams before but I don't see a "game breaker" on offense. Mount reminds me of the team with Bruney and Burgardt...it was solid but didn't have that game changer like Moore, Pugh the teams after it with Kmic and Garcon. This team is more rounded than last year but Cecil gave a comfort factor - you knew he could break it at any moment and take over the game. Again this is all IMHO. Regardless I will still shout from the rooftops: Roll Raiders!! 11 in 11!!

desertraider,

I think the Raiders will be fine. I would take the best defense in D3 going into the playoffs. Don't forget they have not had their best WR for several games, lost their starting QB, but have a more experienced passer in Piloto this year. I think Collins and/or Denton could be the game breaker in the playoffs with Claycomb being that steady WR when they need it.

I do think there will be some challenges in the East region, but we'll see how tha braCkets line up. GO RAIDERS! :) ;D

Let's not forget we had almost no running game last year. We are way more balanced this year. And we have 5-7 different quality receivers

I think the jury is out on this team coming into the play-offs.

The good (could be great) is the defense.  My only concern is how they do against a power running team.

The good (could be great) are the wide receivers.  This group could end up being a huge differnce maker in the play-offs.  Look for Denton to get more chances to make plays, and if Jr. comes back healthy, we are looking strong at that position.

The average (could be good) is our QB.  Piloto needs to step his game up in the play-offs.  He shows promise, but not consistency.  I definitely think we need to continue to bring the freshman in to run a wildcat, change of pace offense throughout the play-offs on a few series.

The good (but might only be average) is our running game.  My concern is against the best teams, Murray and our line is average at best.  Murray looks a bit stronger, quicker this year, but I want to see him against the best.

I think the Raiders CAN get to the Stagg (and win), but I think the field is more even this year.

It's PLAY-OFF time!

The good to me is that Murray is not the only good running back as he was last year

My thoughts exactly.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

One big thing I like is that turnovers are down substantially from last year (10 vs. 19).  With Seaman, Piloto and Murray all back you'd hope the experience would translate to better decisions/care with the ball and it has thus far.

Penalties are around 60 yds/game, so a little worse than 2010, but very respectable by our standards (I think we had years not long ago in the 80's yds/gm!).

When the playoffs roll around we hear a lot about opponents wanting/needing to play a perfect game and capitalize on MUC mistakes.  This team does a good job of limiting those chances (at least statistically speaking).

Sorry, BW ... lightning didn't strike.

So an 8-2 St. John Fisher gets in??????  SERIOUSLY????  What a frickin' joke!

How in the world do you make the argument for them vs. B-W, vs. Wheaton, vs. just about anyone????

They do this every year.  There is always one head scratcher.

Also weird how they have the brackets set up this year.  Looks like the NCC folks will get to find out if they are better than Mount, as they keep suggesting (especially concerning last year).

WOW!

Wow, the committee shook it up this year. Mount's in a bracket with three north teams, two west teams and two south teams.

Yeah, not the usual East Bracket cakewalk.

Are we looking at this right --- Wabash is the #1 seed and UMU the #2 seed?  WTH?

EDIT:  UMU could be the #1, if Del Val is also a #1 instead of St. Thomas.
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

Hope not ... MUC was #1 and Wabash #2 in the last NCAA regional rankings.

BW was #8 North ... Fisher was #9 East, behind Endicott!

No...that is incorrect.

Gotcha --- and how do we read the semifinal pairings if the #1 seeds win out?

Here are my thoughts after Saturday's game:

- If there is a DB in D-III football better than Nick Driskell, I cannot wait to watch him. Kid is absolutely everywhere and makes all the tackles. He reminds me of Kostelnik, but even better, and Kostelnik was quite a ballplayer.

- Running Game concerns me.

- WR Core is flat out stunning....even without Collins.

- Denton is good, yes. But I don't think he is quite as good as he, or maybe Piloto, thinks he is. We have plenty of talented receivers, no reason to fall in love with just one. (I know he had the game winner against BW and looked good yesterday. Just something about him doesn't click)

- Run D is good and extremely physical (see Nick Driskell above). I think this might be the year they are able to contain Coppage (fingers crossed), if that matchup occurs.

- Favorite moment of the game: 4th quarter and there is a false start. LK takes the entire O-Line out. Awesome.

All-in-All this team has the ability to make it to, and win, the Stagg Bowl. One just wonders if they will be able to keep it together and give a great effort for 4 quarters for the next 5 Games.
