Why are advance ticket sales available for this game?

I thought that NCAA tournament rules required that tickets be sold only on the day of the event.

Don't know where you got that idea.  There has been pre-sale of tickets for play-off games since I have been going, and that has been for about 17 years.

I'm fairly certain that all the tickets sold for the two games at Wabash this post-season were available game day only, and that the game day only requirement was imposed by the NCAA.

Hmmm...well I think you have your information wrong, or your AD was misinformed.

By the way.......all Wabash fans can call 330-829-4100, and order their tickets.  Let them know you are from Wabash, and want to sit in the Wabash section.  You can then pick up your tickets on Friday from 12-2, or get them at will call the day of the game.

Must have been - I wen't back and looked at the postings on our alumni site.  Ticket sales were controlled by NCAA, and would only occur on gameday.

You're probably right. However, the NCAA gives Mount fans the availability to buy their post season tickets in September.

;)  ;D

Also, about the perceived tough game this weekend for Mount.  I give all the props in the world for Wabash's comeback against NCC.  But after watching the replay of the game, I say NCC blew the game more than Wabash won it.  It took some incredible luck for Wabash to earn the trip to Alliance, and I am not sure how the Wabash QB is going to be able to play Saturday, that skinny kid took a beating.  Oh well I look forward to a bunch of candy striped fans at Mount this weekend.

It's funny how really good players and really good teams happen to "get lucky" more than others.

Also, "that skinny kid" was the toughest, most clutch sumbitch on any football field anywhere on Saturday.  If his number gets called on Saturday, he'll be ready.

First, lets be clear.  You guys have the right to say what you will about Mount and to denigrate Wabash chances.  You have a proven record and Wabash's is in the proving stage (if it is to be proved).  I for one - as a Little Giant - am happy to be still invited to the dance and to have the opportunity we have.  I was at UWW a couple of years ago ... we had a good team and they had a way better team.  till, it was fun, the UWW fans and administration were rightfully prideful but gratious hosts.  I expect no less from the school/coach/team/fans who set the Div III standard.

We will try hard to beat you and will not quit.  I like to think we have a good chance.  (Depends on many things, not the least of which is who we have standing healthy at the moment to play.  We do not have the depth you have ... example our O line were walking wounded against NCC - especially toward the end of the game - result was that NCC could get to our QB [after he passed] and bust him around.  Will Belton Play?  if he is at full steam, it will be interesting to see him work with your D.  If he is not and Tyler Burke has healed from the bashing he took ... interesting from different standpoint.  Our D has lost some men but should play hard.)  I do not know much about your individual players except that I understand that your #1 QB may be out.  I think Wabash has a great chance this weekend, as Mount is "banged up" as well.  Some of us (me included) feel you have to "beat the man" to "be the man".  Wabash has yet to do that, but I think this could be their best chance.

Questions:
1)  Is the seating reserved? YES.....you will have your own "section" 12 I think (Wabash has published a Mount ticket email site and said to get tickets early.)  2)  Is there a smaller site designated for visitors?
3)  Is the visitor seating on the traditional visitor side or along the home side? Visitor Side, but there are Mount season ticket holders over there as well
4)  Is there a tailgate area next to tyhe stadium? ... designated or just scrum for a spot?Parking lot right beside the stadium...get there EARLY
5)  Is your enviornment not very open to visitors or just fine?  (I ask that because ... except for DePauw whom we hate from birth and are NOT AT ALL OPEN TO, and perhaps to a lesser extent Wittenberg - given their "attitude fans" ... Wabash is very open and inviting to visitors a nd visitors' tailgates ... meaning unless you are an ass, you can always find a beer somewhere from a Wabash fan.  VERY OPEN......you will be welcomed
6)  How early do the tailgates usually start?  At Wabash, they start early.  EARLY.....

I know both Wabash fans and team are looking forward to Saturday.  We are pretty proud of our coach as well and know that he is of the royal (purple) cloth.  See you all on Saturday for a hopefully great football game without injury.

What he said above and considering we are welcoming home one of our own not only as a player and a coach but a member of the immediate family only the best can be expected from the staff and fans for this one. Once they are between the lines the team will receive all the best that we can give like any other opponent that stops by for a visit. ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Hmm...well, that's interesting.  I don't ever recall playoff tickets of the games I've attended in the past (Hope, Alma and including one more recently at Wabash in 2005 when they played Albion) being available other than on game day to the general public, other than advance sales for the Stagg Bowl right after the semi-final playoff games are completed.  I guess that means our AD was misinformed in past years, however,...I don't think that was the situation.  ;)  Then again, perhaps my memory is bad, being that I'm one of those "old guys". ::) ;) :)  Regardless, I don't think anyone will have to worry about not getting a ticket this weekend at Mount Union for the game because while this could potentially be a really good playoff game, I doubt it will be a sellout. ;D

If memory serves, I bought tickets in advance for the 2002 regional final in Alliance.  Every other playoff game I've been to has been a day-of purchase.

We were told (Wabash) that no advance sales of tickets would take place by edict of the NCAA.

But I saw that advance tickets were available for Franklins first round game, too.

Oh well... I guess that we were told wrong.  No matter....

I spent my $8 today for this weekends game at Mount.

My guess on tickets sold "only" on game day ... applies to the situation which is different from what I understand exists at Mount.  At Wabash, for example, all seating is general with nothing reserved.  First come first seated, wherever you want.  Hence the sale of tickets on game day is tyhe easiest administrativelyt as well as fair to all.  it is my understanding that Mount has season ticket holders/reserved seats ... this could present a problem ... easily handled by imposing on Mount administration the additional duty of figuring all this out (hence the obtaining of tickets prior to game day).  That may be the difference ... but have no inside information.

And one derrogatory statement made on this blog that I think is improper about Tuler Burke.  He may not have the biggest physical frame in the world, but I will trade that any day for his passing arm, gutsy runs and his heart of a lion (or more properly ... of a Little Giant).  If the commentor missed this when watching the fourth quarter of the NCC/Wabash game, I suggest he missed the most important part.

Burke was a warrior on Saturday.

This Coach/Mentor/Uncle vs Student/Asst/Nephew thing is huge isnt it?

I gather that Raeburn is one of Mount's favorite sons, eh?

He is....and seeing as how he coached with LK this summer over in Europe, and helped with the offense, it probably suffices to say that he has Mount's play book at his finger tips.   :o

Hmmmm.......NOT GOOD!
