Let's get this game on already!
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

I hate to rain on the parade, but I don't think this will be a close game. Wabash hasn't played a passing team like Mount.

The Capital game was probably the worst performance by a Mount QB that I have ever seen, but Seaman is no longer the QB.  LK actually pulled both QB and went with a freshman for portions of the game.

Since when is 26 TD and 217 ypg indicative of a poor passing game?

Since 1997.

???

Really curious to hear the story behind this.  (Went right over my head.)

Dry joke. I never called their passing game "poor."

Impressed, BashDad knows how to use the "Quote" function properly.

Boards are at least interesting this week.  Centre played one of the most impressive games by a UMU opponent in the playoffs in a long while and not a peep from the Colonel fans, even when UMU posters went to the SCAC board and congratulated them.

I'm just glad I'll be at home in FL this weekend so I don't have to see the silly boys running around in striped overalls.

Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

How do Witt's McKee and Cooper compare to Mount's WR's?  Witt's passing game was solid.

NORTH CENTRAL!!! I think that I've lost count but how many Final Fours and Stagg Bowls has NC been to lately?  It has to be a bunch.

If you are in Naperville, they might try to make you believe they are a top 3 program in the nation and compete on a yearly basis with purple powers. Anywhere else in the world...well, I think that count is still 0.  :o 8-) ;D

There were posters last week that were non-NCC guys talking about how this NCC team was the real deal.  Many were already talking about the NCC/Mount matchup to have happened this week.

That was a serious question about Mount's WR's vs. Wittenberg's McKee and Cooper?  Those 2 were legit in any D3 league in the country.

One thing in Wabash's favor this weekend...there will not be a Chris Kern, there will not be a Larry Kinnard, there will not be a Pugh at RB, and there will not be an Adamson at QB.  That 2002 Mount team had 3 NFL free agents.  I also don't think this Wabash team walks in to Alliance this time overwhelmed by the whole Mount-thing.  Respect, ABSOLUTELY, but they won't be intimidated.  No offense to the 2002 Wabash team but that was our 1st playoff appearance since 1977.  Then add the fact our silly punter misses team breakfast and our All American TE has to punt deep in our own territory...then add the fact that Kern picks Knott on one of our 1st possessions...  Can Wabash start like that again?  Yes.  Do I think they will?  No.

BB16,

NCC was the real deal. Their loss doesn't change that. That was a really good team Wabash beat. And save a tipped 2pt conversion (or about 6 other plays in the 4th qtr) and 1 pt, we would be talking about the NCC/Mt matchup. We aren't. That isn't a knock on NCC as much as it is an indication of the strength Wabash brings to the table. NCC is a top 5 program. Nothing has happened in my view to change that. I have seen a lot of OAC/WIAC football and the quality of the teams last week in Crawfordsville tells me Wabash has the ability to win in Alliance. Don't know that it will happen as most teams don't play as well on the road as they do at home. I don't think Wabash wins that game last week in Naperville. I also don't think Wabash can come back from a 21 pt deficit on the road. So the LG's will need to get untracked early and make this a dogfight from the start IMO.

I was told by more than one Witt fan the the WR's at Witt dropped a lot of balls this year that cost them a playoff opportunity. The Mount WR's will not drop balls like that in my opinion.

I think it goes back a few years even before that.  In 97 I think Borchert threw for 66 TD's and 2 INT's.  His numbers is 96 were also good but not Madden 97 good.

Bein86,

Great comparative analysis, thanks for the insight.  Those 2 are the top 2 receivers (#'s wise) to play at Wittenberg.  Cooper was 6'4, McKee was at least 6'2.

Usee - my comments weren't a slam on NCC at all.  I agree with your points.

Since 1997.

The 2004 team averaged 213.8 yards passing per game.  They lost in the Semi-final to Mary Hardin-Baylor.   :o
