My apologies, not sure where I got that number. I still consider Piloto a Co-starter. No shame in that. Larry Kehres split time at QB.

This was the first time I mentioned it on THIS board, now....and I wasn't asking, per se. I was asking if there was a significant diaspora of Mt. Union alums, instead of them all huddled in the quadrant bordered by I-77, I-75, I-80 and I-70 as well! That's a legit question, and it may bring light to more of an answer other than "LK doesn't want it".

The answer to your question is yes there is a significant diaspora of Mt. Union alums from Florida to D.C. to Texas, Arizona and California. In other words all across the country.  Why would you think there wouldn't be?

Should attending Wabash fans with beards be worried whether they will still have them upon return from buggy land?   :o :-[

I didn't realize LK still had eligibility. So who does LK go with this weekend against the Bash? Piloto or LK?

I cannot emphasize this enough: the following is NOT intended as an academic potshot at ANYONE, and I am very well aware that a student can get a quality education at ANY university/college if he or she puts the work in.  This absolutely DOES NOT MEAN that you cannot get a "good job" with a degree from a "lesser" university, or that all students from "elite" universities are making $100,000 a year and working in New York City.  PLEASE keep that in mind while reading the following.

Some universities tend to have a much wider geographic footprint than others because of their academic reputation.  A school like Carnegie Mellon draws kids from all over the country, and subsequently the alums often end up...all over the country.  I was friends with a core group of six guys on the football team at CMU.  Two from PA, one from MI, two from OH, one from MN.  We currently live in Pittsburgh (I'm the one stuck here in graduate school), Madison WI, Houston TX, Dallas TX, Denver CO, and Seattle WA.  I also know that most of the other alumni from my senior class are dispersed in other locales such as Norway, Pakistan, Ann Arbor MI, and so forth.  Research universities that churn out a lot of students majoring in engineering, physics, mathematics, economics tend to send alums all over the country to big-city firms and major research centers.

Contrast that to a "regional" attraction school, or a school whose primary attraction is an education program.  For example, the PSAC schools (which all compete in Division II) tend to draw students almost exclusively from PA, NJ, and Ohio.  A large majority of them, presumably, remain in the area after graduation and get a job locally.

(Bracing myself for onslaught of hurled tomatoes)

I admit, freely, that I am unfamiliar with the academic draw of UMU and the other relevant details.  However, I can see how someone might speculate that a large proportion of UMU alums are still living in Ohio or the surrounding area, particularly given that (as far as I know) the university is newly crowned a "University" and thusly was not granting graduate degrees until recently.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

How significant? What's the percentage?

In my work in consulting, I've worked at colleges that are good academic schools but their alums tend to stay within 200 miles or so. It's a question I ask when I talk about planning on-campus events vs. having regional or national events. There's no slight intended at all.

It may be a factor in this decision. If a great plurality or even a slight majority of all alums are within a reasonable distance of Mt. Union and / or can reasonably expect to have that cable channel on their system without having to upgrade to tiers that they wouldn't necessarily purchase, then there's more of a reason NOT to have the games live streamed. There won't be as many complaints.

Sorry, I don't have percentages.  If I see someone from the Alumni office when I'm on campus tonight I'll ask.  I know that I have friends from Mount in Eastern Pa., Washington D.C., Arizona, Texas, Illinois, and Indiana.  There are Mount Union Alumni Clubs in Florida, North Carolina, New York, Chicago, Washington D.C. and several other states.  There is even a Mount Union Alumni Club in Singapore.

I don't know why there is not a webcast, but I don't think it's due to a lack of Alumni outside of  N.E, and Central Ohio.

I filed a "Motion to Allow 70's to Attend Tailgate Party" with the Court this afternoon. It was strongly opposed by the Prosecutors Office and the Adult Probation and Parole Department. Adult Mental Health Services also opposed the motion ,as did the Victim's Assistance Program. The Stark County Sex Offender Registration service also opposed the Motion. Despite these strenuous objections, the Court sustained my Motion, and 70's will be allowed to attend.

I don't care, I'm going to the game, and later will enjoy a network quality replay on Sports Time Ohio. Gladly send off a copy to anyone, but we'll see Sunday if there is any interest. I will not question the Athletic Director.

If you want to do research: How many DIII football programs are on broadcast TV and how many have a Hall of Fame Announcer?Remembering that we are Co-ed, at least 60% of the alumni could care less about football.

Larry and I learned at the feet of Jack Rafield, the cheapest SOB to ever be an athletic director. If it doesn't directly benefit the kids on the field, it's a waste of time and money.

I was banned from campus for several decades although it was loosely enforced, Purple can attest to the level of my behavior. I had a very good time, I think
