70's:  Why must you be a complete jack-wagon?  Walking by the visiting fans at halftime flipping the bird is a great sportsmanlike gesture.  If you're going to act like that, please leave the #99 Mount jersey at home.

Was returning the favor to a couple jackasses

If you put it in context, we just scored at the north end and I was walking back to the south end and took a rather verbal barrage

Let me see if I have this right.  A supposedly grown man gets yelled at by a bunch of college kids and he's not mature enough to just ignore it?  Nice display.

This is 70's birthday week.  Let's all give him the benefit of the doubt this week only.
There's a Beatles song that commemorates his birthday this year.  Can anybody guess it?

Thanks, D3db.  Great research.  I wonder if the Michigan conference lines are representative; likely they are for all of DIII.  I'm probably too lazy to go through the NCAC and OAC starting lines.  I will say that the Wabash line is "thick" and looks sturdy.  My impression yesterday was that Mount's line was big and strong, and last week I thought that the North Central O line was big.  I'm used to looking at Wooster, Witt, Allegheny and others, and I could be mistaken overall because your strong opponents almost always look big and strong.  I will say that this year's line is about average for the last few years and actually smaller than when, two years ago, we had on the right side a guard at about 6-6 310 and a tackle at 6-7 295/300.  By the way, how times have changed.  I recall years ago, and I mean years ago--way back in the 70s--reading in Sports Illustrated that Nebraska's returning offensive line tackle to tackle averaged a "massive" 242 lbs.  Anyway, the Mount D line, as was the North Central D line a week ago, were far and away the best fronts Wabash saw all year, and I give a nod to Mount being the most solid, despite the beating the W QB Burke took from NCC. And for a smallish D line, the Wabash front is pretty solid as well.  What else would one expect deep into the playoffs.

Thanks sigma one.  Like you, I guess I'm a little too lazy (at least right now ;D ;)) to look into some of the other conferences starting lines to compare the sizes.  Most likely, the MIAA lines might be represtative for most of DIII; at the same time, I know there are some teams with much larger in comparison.  I recall back in the mid 90's Alma had a pretty huge line with guys in the 275 avg range and that was big.  I'd have to go back and look at Albion's averages over the year.

Yet, at the same time, I think that the current lines in the MIAA are smaller than in past years - I could be wrong, but that is just the sense I get.  One small part of that is our league is not getting/attracting those larger players, in part, due to the DII schools (and some NAIA ones) in our region that can offer football scholarships.  Anyway, thanks for your own opinions and input.  BTW, too bad Hope and Wabash discontinued their series a while back - at least for now.

The other thing to remember about yesterday is that Wabash had used its timeouts and Mount could run out three or four minutes easily with one or two first downs.

From all reports our clock management with getting plays onto the field was very poor at best.

Another mistake that you cannot make against exceptional teams like Mount Union.

Clock management wasn't great, but confusion at the line and personnel groupings hurt them just as bad.

How bout this Pat & Ric in the booth and hscoach on sideline. That sounds like a real D3 crew

So I'm the sideline eye candy?  That's scary.

Was anyone surprized like I was that Neal Seaman even dressed for last week's Wabash game, let alone play in it? Maybe I missed it, but Coach Kehres's staff kept it quiet. I assume M. Piloto's status will be as well! ;D

Back in Michigan ... and over having our season end.  Congratulations to UMU.  You have an outstanding team and one to be proud of.  Having witnessed both NCC and Mount ... you have the better team both on O and D.  We are proud of what we have done ... but did not have the depth (especially on O) you have when it comes to "next player up" due to injuries.

A fun game, great field, great tailgate (I have experienced both Mount at hoime and UWW at home)  and both were gracious hosts.

Next time ... I hope perhaps next year ... while I also want a different outcome, I know a great game will occur.  Thanks for having us.  And this Bud's for you.

Congrats UMU ! Followed game online. I hope Piloto can go. We have been through a hip pointer (if that is what it is) it is painful but you can play through it. Trey did it as a WR, so a QB can can certainly do it. Therapy and DMSO will do the trick.

Finally in front of a computer (which is a good thing) after the trip to Alliance.  I would echo everything that wabco said.  Good luck to Mount Union for the rest of the playoffs.
