Guests have finally left, and the boss just went to bed.

WD - as always, great experiencing D-III football with you.  We have a tendancy to view things in a similar manner, so great shooting the football breeze.  TFR......great meeting you in person today.  Skunk & I were always fans, so it's nice to put a face/name to a screen name.

Whitewater people....you CANNOT possibly be slighted by what HSC had to say.......right?  It had nothing to do with you.  To answer your question.....it was about the talent they had on the field.  Obviously not their execution at times, but then again Mount had a few issues at times as well.  Wesley was big....fast.......and had the most talented QB that Mount has played this year (no slight to Belton..but he didn't play the whole game).

I have to disagree with all the guys that said Piloto had "great game".  Great games don't include the interceptions that he had.  One happened because he got hit while throwing, but still......not great.  I will say that AT TIMES he was very good.

Murray is the real deal, and again I will say the big difference is he finishes runs, and looks for that little "extra".  The kid has grown up.  Near the endzone, Collins is almost unstoppable.  He just seems to go get the ball no matter what.

McSweeny was the real deal, and I am a true believer.  He wasn't the runner that he has been in all his other games (but who is against Mount), but he certainly could do it with his arm as well.  He was MONEY!

As for next week, Mount is at least a 7 point dog, if not more.  If you look at the comparisons, UWW has as good of a QB (if not better), and the best RB in D-III.  Mount will have to play the game of their life, and get some timely breaks.

"Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that's first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don't ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is a game for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win.{VL}

Please use your influence on mr_mom to set the line at UWW -7 (lucky 7 is a good number) ; I'm afraid it will be in the double digits.  ;)

As much as a fan as I am, I think the line should be WWW -10...
I would not be surprised to see 28-14...THis is not the usual Mount offense that has graced past Stagg Bowls, and I am afraid the D will be on the field much too much...

first I would like to thank my Mount friends for being great people and allowing us Wesley folk to hangout with you before the game.  As usual I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Alliance.  congrats to Mount for a good win today.  Both teams battled to the end and little seperated them on the field.  the boxscore says the game was pretty sloppy, but I think that had more to do with the caliber of play on the field.  Wesley's 2 fumbles were caused by great plays by Mount players.  In the end Wesley just could not make the play they needed to win the game.  Good luck next week.
As you said Wesleydad, McSweeney is the real deal. The guy reminds me of a young Elway, can throw the ball a ton yet tuck and run and make something out of nothing. Wesley stepped up their game well and can be quite proud of a terrrific season. I was glad you were able to join us again for the wings and brews friday night as it was a blast and we'll keep the voodoo's ready for ya anytime you're coming back to A-town. See you at the tailgate in Salem.

Congrads to Mount Union for the victory today. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but discipline won out.  Good luck against UWW in the Stagg.

Great teams cause other teams to make mistakes. Thats what happened here. Two great teams of relatively equal caliber went at it and this is the cause. FYI, Wesley 6 Turnovers, Mount 5. Either team could have come away with it, but today that was Mount. They proved that they are the Machine once again. Hopefully it'll be same time, same place next year.  ;) Good luck next week Purple Raiders!

For YOUR Information:
Wesley:  3 Fumbles, 2 lost, 4 times Intercepted = 6 Turnovers
Mount Union:  2 Fumbles, 1 lost, 2 times Intercepted = 3 Turnovers

I dont know why, but I am thinking that an int is missing somewhere.  I was pretty sure that #4 had 2 and there was another pick.  I only say that because #4 has had a tough time in games covering and Myself and DeWesleyFan were keeping track of how he did and I remember saying that he was a +1 since he had 2 picks and only 1 TD against in coverage.  Guess I am wrong, wont be the first time.

Agree, but

I do not feel that that Mount alone has to play a perfect game to win. These games over the last 6 years have had big plays and have been high scoring. Despite great defenses coming in, the offenses have dictated the tempo. While I believe UWW is the favorite, everyone will argue by how much. This Raider team is not like the Raider teams in the past, true. This Raider team has managed to overcome injuries at the skill postions to get to Salem, so I think they are even more adapt to dealing with tough situations and I for one would not bet against them this year! :)

My take on the game. UMU offense; Piloto better than expected, but the picks gotta disappear! Throw it to a coach, ANYTHING but defender. Murray played his usual steady game, well done. We had our usual penalties, they didnt kill us, but that has to improve also. Receivers played better than expected..not perfect but pretty good. Kicking game was a little shaky. The missed field goal was unexpected...but the Wesley guys sure can jump!  Punting game was serviceable, yet unfulfilling. Improvement desired. The Oline got better as the game progressed. Gonna have to be at the top of their game next week from start to finish.

LK described the defense in his post game interview as mediocre, especially in the first half. I agree. They looked liked they were prepared for the wrong team. Second half they played much better. Were the Raiders just waiting for Wesley to self destruct? Give Wesley more credit than that. Those big cushions on the receivers were overkill INMO. #10 outshone #21 in this one...that was unexpected, but appreciated. It reminds me of a saying about the size of the fight in a dog! He will be targeted next week also. I hope he has another big game in him left. What happened to the rush? McSweeney left alone to peruse the field is a different Qb than McSweeney having to dodge a blitz. Hes still a threat, but less of one. UMU is still a hard team to run the ball on. This game was no different. The read option was not as effective as some might have believed. Credit the Defense there. Was it just me, or did you think that Wesley was coached to hop when a tackle was about to be made? UMUs tendency to ankle swipe has been noticed.

Special teams were pretty decent. Skilliter was close to breaking a kickoff and ran hard on returns. He must be in LKs doghouse if his role in the backfield has been deleted.

Lets get the 11th in 11! I miss those team celebrations in January. :'(  It wont be easy. We have to be the underdogs in this one. Which brings us back to the story about the size of the fight in the dog. ;D

What he said.

As far as Friday night goes?  Going to take a '93 type effort to win.  Unfortunately Ballard looks more like at G than a QB now and probably couldn't run 20 yards without passing out.   If I was setting the line, which I'm not, WW would be a 14.5 favorite.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

You and I are on the same page. With two excellent coaching staffs and two groups of excellent athletes, these games take on their own life.  Both teams have had their share of hurdles this year and had to survive scares.  I am looking forward to the game and having A few beverages with our purple friends.

I forgot to mention the multiple (10....12?) MISSED TACKLES yesterday by Mount's usually ferocious, and steady defense.  Mount's biggest impact defensive player was abused at times while trying to tackle the QB, and a few of the receivers after a bubble screen.  That is the most vulnerable I have seen #21 in two years.

After thinking about it, I will give the Wesley offensive players as much credit as I will criticize Mount's defensive players.  I think Wesley had a "fast" that Mount hadn't experienced as of yet this year.

Not to mention the lack of holding calls--also the fact that Wesley was offsides on at least two of the kick offs.  That might have had some influence on our guys being "man handled"
