I hope Toledo and Matt can find someone to whip up a defense...they gave up a lot of points all season and had to outscore their opponents to win.  Their D was horrible....
I also hope Manning does a better job with the O line there than he did at Mount.  I really believe that was the weakness of Mount this year and did not see them improve much throughout the season. There were a couple injuries that hurt, so maybe that was the underlying issue..

Oh, it was. It definitely was.

The underlying issue this year was consistancy on the O Line. While injuries were a factor, the key turnover in the Stagg Bowl was the inability to contain the pass rush. Versus prior years, the O line was IMHO. not as phyiscal. My hope is that we see some more physical and a bit larger players to augment the returning starters for next year! :)

The O line seemed to be missing the "mean streak" that most past Raider lines have.  Maybe that's what they were trying with flipping Modrak from DL to OT for the final two games.  Haven't seen that discussed much on here.

You also need a QB that is mobile enough to re-set his feet and then deliver accurately because the pocket isn't clean.  This won't be an issue for UMU in most games, but show me the last time a QB had a "clean pocket" around him in the title game.  A healthy Seaman should be a plus for Mount next season, IMO.

Saintsfan,

Maybe Neal will hit the weight room more to build more arm strength which is his is only shortfall, we'll see! :)

Or giving Burke a legit shot at playing time.  The ship has sailed on Neal, IMO.

PurpleSuit,

Good question, when was the last time Coach Kehres went with an underclassman vs. a senior as a starter (in this case 2 seniors)? Playing 3 QB's would be a problem for a full season, if not for an injury! :-\

You can't "improve" arm strength at this point. It is what it is. If Piloto isn't your full-time starter next season, I'd be shocked.

Bashdad,

My guess is that Piloto will get most of the reps, with Seaman and Burke sharing the remainder barring any injuries! :)

Get ready to see all three QB's next year, unless Seaman is less than 100% for next year.

PurpleSuit

maybe Neal will stay in Alliance for the summer workouts this year...I agree with Skunks, the QB position is going to be wide open

What is your outlook for Wasbash heading into 2012?

To tell you the truth, I haven't really considered next year's team. There's broad optimism around the program, that's for sure, considering the defensive smorgasbord that's returning and this year's impressive run.  You're likely to hear plenty, come August, about Belton "putting it all together" and the defense's "high expectations" and finding new guys to fill in for Chamblee, Horn, and Gum. You'll probably have to deal with several pseudo-curious "Can Wabash break into the upper tier?" posts from folks who watched that NCC game. I could muster something about all that now but... eh. I'll get back to you in, say, July.

For the life of me, I'd love for someone to write a detailed defense of Neal Seaman. I've watched enough to have an opinion and that opinion isn't even close to being positive, not by Walnut-and-Bronze standards and not by UMU standards. I understand the timidity in voicing or posting something negative when it risks being perceived as piling-on after the ONLY loss of the season (to say nothing of immediate guns-a-blazin' karma hits from your brethren), but yeah--- he's not for me.

PurpleSuit

A detailed defense of neal seaman, let's see...he went to Louisville, and...uh...he threw nice crossing routes to Cecil for 50+ yd TD's

Piloto will not be the starter over Seaman.  He lacks the consistency in his throws and in the mental part of the game.  Think of a taller, less mobile Mike Jorris.  Big arm but little else.

Would not be surprised to see one of the youngsters take over the 2nd spot behind Seaman.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Neal's best attributes are his work ethic and his knowledge.   Lacks the arm to be a great QB, but coaches typically prefer steady, hard workers over inconsistent, nonchalant practice players.

Put Piloto's arm on Seaman and we'd be fine.

Only thing keeping Mount from titles the last two years has been QB play.
