if anyone needs their football fix or is interested in mysterious quarterback prospects, Mount's spring game is tomorrow at 8:00 pm

PurpleSuit,

Any word on how the spring game went in terms of those players who stood out? :)

I couldn't make it out to the game and I really haven't heard too much about it.  With finals coming up, hopefully we will get word of a large number of guys staying in Alliance for the summer.

PurpleSuit,

Thanks, I think we will see some wide open competition at QB this fall and maybe some recruiting surprizes. I look for Nick Driskill to have a top season and get alot of NFL interest this fall. Will Jasper Collins also have a breakout season, we'll see! :)

I love Nick Driskill as much as the next guy, but I highly doubt he will be getting much NFL interest, if any. He is a dominant D-III player, but that is about it. Hope I am wrong.

I wonder if Jasper was working out with Cecil while he was on campus. Would have to think that would help his growth.

In terms of what I heard about the team so far, the QB comp is wide open, with a Freshman leading the pack. Also heard that overall roster numbers seem to be down from kids quitting and injuries.

Talked with someone in the know at another OAC school and their kids are looking at the upcoming season as the one they finally "get" Mount Union. I'm glad to hear kids are saying that, but will believe it when I see it.

pradierguy,

Your comment begs the question: :)

Which of these teams has the best chance to beat the Raiders this fall:

1. B-W
2. Heidelberg
3. Ohio Northern
4. Someone else

The Raiders have Heidelberg and ONU at home, but play away at a always tough B-W. Playing B-W toward the end of the season would normally help B-W.

Raiders_Dad,

Welcome to the OAC boards! :)

The Raiders return a strong running game, with a very good receiving corp, although not
sure how strong the TE will be. After Kyle Miller, their was a drop off, IMHO. Defensively,
there a spots to fill at LB. Secondary will be strong as will the kicking game. The only
weakness is who will lead the team at QB. The past two Stagg Bowls proved that, so the question is, can Coach Kehres find the right answer. :-\

I'm not normally one to post things like this, but the Head Baseball Coach at our school is 31 Years old and not in good shape.  He has had some Heart issues his whole liife and last summer collapsed on the field and had to have a pacemaker installed.  Last fall he was back out on the field coaching and in the classroom teaching Chemistry.  At the beginning of Spring Baseball he was having some more health issues and he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer than is now rapidly spreading throughout his body.

A couple of his students (girls, not baseball players) wrote an essay about his struggles and now the team is a finalist to win new Uniforms from Allan's Sporting Goods.

If you can, please vote for the team!  You can vote daily for another week or so, and it it very easy to do if you have a Facebook account.

Here Are a couple of newspaper articles on Coach Kunick:

Baseball helps coach keep mind off cancer battle

Sadly, Coach Kunick lost his battle with Cancer this morning.  Please keep voting to help honor his memory.

Cecil will be fine.  Blackmon/Robinson/Thomas/Cecil will be the Jags top four WR.  Being a year in and with a position coach will help Cecil immensely.
