I'm not normally one to post things like this, but the Head Baseball Coach at our school is 31 Years old and not in good shape.  He has had some Heart issues his whole liife and last summer collapsed on the field and had to have a pacemaker installed.  Last fall he was back out on the field coaching and in the classroom teaching Chemistry.  At the beginning of Spring Baseball he was having some more health issues and he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer than is now rapidly spreading throughout his body.

A couple of his students (girls, not baseball players) wrote an essay about his struggles and now the team is a finalist to win new Uniforms from Allan's Sporting Goods.

If you can, please vote for the team!  You can vote daily for another week or so, and it it very easy to do if you have a Facebook account.

You can vote here:  2012: Rise Above

Here Are a couple of newspaper articles on Coach Kunick:

Fivay baseball coach's lessons still resonate in his absence

Baseball helps coach keep mind off cancer battle

Sadly, Coach Kunick lost his battle with Cancer this morning.  Please keep voting to help honor his memory.

Is there any way to vote without being on Facebook?

I think there is, but I guess the voting is over and our Baseball team won for their category, thanks for all who helped!

Jacksonville drafts WR at #1...this doesnt seem to bode well for Cecil Shorts...

Cecil will be fine.  Blackmon/Robinson/Thomas/Cecil will be the Jags top four WR.  Being a year in and with a position coach will help Cecil immensely.

You're forgetting veteran Lee Evans too.  Cecil may need to focus on the return game if he's looking to contribute to the Jags.  He's also got Brian Robiskie and Chastin West (11 catches in 2011) in serious competition with him.  Can't expect them to keep all those guys.

Some of you already know this, however, our MIAA's Albion's Chris Greenwood, DB, was drafted by the Detroit Lions.  He reminds me of another small college DB who became a starter for the Lions in the 1990's - Bruce McNorton, who was from Georgetown, KY.  I think Chris has a good chance - obviously, we'll be rooting for him and your guys as well. ;)

The only person Robiskie is in serious competition with is the fry cook at the local McDonalds, then again with his knack for "not showing up" - the fry cook aint that worried either. Cecil will be fine, Robiskie will be on way out before season starts.

I tend to agree that Cecil is in the Top 4. I see him following along the lines of Pierre, when really he wasn't expected to get much attention and we (the fans) thought he might be in trouble. I see Cecil being the solid #3 before week 8 this year.

I honestly think Ed Bubonics is more of a threat to Cecil's status than Robiskie at this point in time.

This RB from Davidson was a stud.  Not sure what his injury was.  Headed to Ada.

just imagine how well ONU would recruit if their field wasn't complete trash...that being said, they look to be doing well for a 4th place OAC squad

Looks like Mount is picking up probably the top QB in Stark:

I think his HS coach cost him some opportunities with larger schools, but the kid is a heck of a QB

His high school head coach is an absolute arse!
