Looks like Mount is picking up probably the top QB in Stark:

http://fridaynightohio.com/news/northwest-qb-nick-riley-will-go-mount-union

I think his HS coach cost him some opportunities with larger schools, but the kid is a heck of a QB

You mean college coaches aren't fans of you saying they're too dumb to recruit good local kids and that's why they go 0-12 every year??

Good get for the Raiders though.  He's definitely got talent.  QB race should be fun.

p.s. When I read Suit's OP I thought it said that HScoach cost him some opportunities.  Missed the "his" before it.  My first thought was "Sheesh, just because he didn't go to Minerva?!"  Haha.  It's early in the morning for me...

Saw this on bleacherreport. Granted they made a mistake - Mount's consecutive win streak was 55 not the 54 they reported. But I guess since they also had a 54 streak (twice actually) it's not completely incorrect. Couldn't agree more that College Game Day is missing quite a bit. Maybe ESPN will try to hit some of these schools (like MOUNT UNION!!!) instead of upping the coverage of poker!!

desertraider,

Maybe in 2012, the Raiders can start their own streak again, but have to win the Stagg regardless of the opposition! :)

For those who think Mount is a one-sport school: I just heard from a normally reliable source that Mount Union's Men's teams have won the OAC all-sports trophy.  The Mount Union Women finished second.

This is true.  1st in outdoor track, 2nd in golf and baseball let them pass ONU by less than 2 points to win it.  That's back to back All-Sports trophies for the men.

Reading a high school prep magazine for Orange County CA at a car dealership and am surprised to see one JJ Christy heading for UMU.

Interesting and sad, but true story.  I know many who are in this situation, including one of my own son-in-laws.  In addition, most everyone here knows and has experienced this I'm sure.  We're still paying off loans (although almost done thankfully) for our own two daughters.  Also, as a tangent but relevant for sure...wow, for once, the NYT got something right - a rare occurance for them. ::) :P ;)

Sure, sure, Mount Union has done some impressive things on the gridiron over the years but when they surpass ONU's back to back to back to back to back all-sports streak, let me know.

Was one of, if not the top prep QB in Alaska before moving to Orange County for his senior year.  Put up pretty good stats as a dual threat QB in a good CIF conference.  Can probably throw out his Alaska accolades due to the competition, but SoCal football is no joke.

JJ Christy played QB for Buena Park High School (CA).
To learn more, simply google his name.
