Other than about 12 minutes of downpouring rain and a field that did not drain well, it was a near perfect day for football. The Raiders looked pretty darn good for an opening, however there are always some areas that will need a little tweaking. Burke looked very comfortable during the entire game and the team responded accordingly. Even though they got a good rush now and then, he was able to elude and execute and played very confident for a first start. O-line and D-line both looked good but Franklin was able to get around on the outsides a little and I'm sure that will be corrected. I thought we would get a little more pressure on their QB but it was sparodic at best, even though we got their a couple times. Give him credit, he looked pretty good. I thought we might see our backup guys in a little earlier, as in the days of old, to give them a little seasoning so to speak but they came in rather late in the game. I will give a shout out to the Franklin folks. I thought they treated us well and had a pretty nice venue for a football game. All in all, if we continue to improve I believe we will be just fine with alittle fine tuning. If we take the crazy officials out of the game Saturday and put someone in that could call it right, it would not have been as close as it was.

Just my observations!

According to the Rules of 'Post-Patterns',,,eh I mean "D3Boards.com", as defined by the "Liberty League Board" a win by more than 21 Points is a Monkey Stomp.  42 would be a Double Monkey Stomp.  63 Triple., etc...

So it was an Extreme Monkey Stomp almost a double  ;)

Mount beats Preseason #13 Franklin on the road with a Sophomore QB and on a wet field 45-7.

I meant if the officials would have been of a little better quality and not tried to hold us back with stupid calls, it would have been a lot worse than + 35! (Sorry you missed the intended pun.)

Went to the game. Sat in the rain. Socks still drying. Wish I had worn my bathing suit and rubber boots like the little girl standing on the rail down front. ;) Next time maybe. If Burke can remember to put the ball in the outside arm when running left, he can be a real good option runner. Fumbles will cause him to get benched otherwise. It looks like the deep ball threat is going to be downplayed this year. Timing passes and dump offs to the backs are going to be Burkes forte. Nice to have a mobile QB again. We can move the chains all day, just not gonna score via the bomb as much. Seamans mobility looked good also. Hope hes a good healer. :) Franklin aint a bad team either...despite the score. Opening jitters led to drops...otherwise they would have moved the ball fairly well on us. Franklin is a nice little place with lots of friendly people.

Is Seaman injured?

Dr. Acula

Some lingering thoughts from the rest of the conference:

JCU's torching of a solid St. Norbert team certainly makes the rivalry game week 3 w/ BW much more intersting.  I came into the season not giving the Streaks much thought.  Mark Myers could be shaking things up though.  You don't go to Pitt because you lack talent.  And you don't come out of Iggy not knowing how to play football.  A big time QB changes things instantly.

The departure of Germany Woods was not felt week 1.  Cartel Brooks had 155 yds and 2 scores on 20 carries.  And according to the updated roster he's bulked up to 195 this year.  Offense hasn't been the Berg's problem of late so the shutout was the better news though.

I was a little surprised Ott only won 15-0.  I was expecting a little more offense out of them against Gallaudet.  But I guess they were also breaking in a new starting QB.

K & J's Dad,

Word is that Burke had a better camp, so Coach Kehres started him and he did a real good job. Seaman is not injured from what I hear!
