A while back there was a headline about Mount loses two key pieces...anyone believe that now? I didn't then and still don't. LK found his QB he was looking for (we all know now that Seaman and/or Piloto was not the answer...LK did his best with what he had) and now it's a matter of time for him to find his #1 RB. The wide receivers are just getting started and can anyone cover them?. And of course the "D" is so quick to the ball...VK does a great job of preparing his players. This could be a very fun year people!!

I'm trying to remember the last season that wouldn't have been fun for a Mount follower!

1977 - 4 wins, 5 losses

Ugh, I had almost forgotten about that year.

My freshman year. Wasn't a lot of fun going to games in my time there. Used to joke that unlike Woody Hayes's 3 yards and a cloud of dust, we had 2 yards and a cloud of dust for an offense.

BW and Musky tied 6-6 with just over a minute to go.  Musky just stopped BW on 4th and 6 and takes over in their own territory.  Heading to OT it seems.  Missed PAT for Musky looming large.

Cap is now going with Andre Cousin at QB.  He's listed as a DB.  He leads them to their first score all on the ground.  21-7 ONU.

Dr. Acula

BW survives 13-6.  Plenty of blame to go around on offense.  They didn't run or throw it well today.

Berg is up 56-2.  Brooks had 227 yds and 3 scores thanks to his 99 yd TD in the 3rd.

Cap and ONU trade scores.  28-14 Bears.  Andre Cousin has run it on QB keepers something like 7 of the last 8 plays.  But they scored so maybe abandoning the pass isn't a bad plan?

Ott leads 21-7 after a 69 yd TD pass.

Dr. Acula

28-14 final in Ada.  After the game the stats updated to let us know it wasn't a DB playing QB, but rather junior Alex Nydza who actually IS a QB.

Ott wins by the same score, 21-7.

Dr. Acula

5 yd TD run from Lattimore.  7-0.

LK mentioned something in the pregame about being sluggish out of the gate because it's a road night game and he was right.  Raiders went 3 and out and then Etta picked up 3 first downs before Dieuseul picked off a pass and the offense responded with a score.

Dr. Acula

End of 1....UMU 7-0.

Must be really windy.  Raiders were going into the wind and kept it on the ground that qtr.  And Mathie had a punt hang up and end up being a 10 yd net punt.

FG, diving pick from Driskill and a 40 yd Burke to Collins TD...17-0 now.

And now Driskill strips Fulton on a blitz and Burke hits Denton the 1st play from 23 yds for another score.  24-0.

4th and 25 and Mount scores! WOW!!  ;D

Nice win for the Raiders today after a slow start. I watched the STO replay from last week and listened to the game today - seems pretty consistent. I like the way Burke controls the game and doesn't seem rattled. I know its early and Mount has not been tested yet - but even under pressure he seems relaxed. Can somebody please tell me about Roman Namdar? Kid sits for 3 quarters, gets his shot and BANG! Crap he throws a really nice ball (no wobble and on the money) - Mount looks set at QB for a bit. What I like about both Mount QBs is they are really good on touch passes and can still throw the deep ball.

I am headed to the ONU game next week - thought it would be a good test game (and it still may be - never count out Dean Paul) but who knows. I am taking a friend who has been wanting to see a Mount home game for 5 years now - been to 2 road games with him and Mount played UGLY in both but won. If he goes to this one and Mount lays an egg I don't think we can be friends anymore.

When folks find out that I went to Mount Union ... not that I try to find ways to interject it into the conversation (or they see my shirt or necktie or hat or ring or lapel pin or etc.) particularly this time of the year ... they always want to know how good they were (in football) when I went there.  I generally respond, “They were a .500 team.”  Actually, the Purple Raiders were 20-15-1 during that 4-year span.
Honestly, the only year I remember is my Freshman year (Fall of 1977).  We wooped the snot out of “Big Woo” (35-8), which I am sure put a big smile on the face of Dick Ross that day!  Then, I took a day off of work, and took my girlfriend (not my wife today … but Ohhhh, the memories!) to the Homecoming game and watched the Purple Raiders roll Denison!  Big Red … or something?!?!  We sat next to the Mother of a Denison defensive player who was carted off the field.  Did not understand what she was saying to me until 20 years later, if you know what I mean.
Funny, though … joelmama was a year behind me in high school, so not sure how we had the same Freshman (Fall of 1977) year at Mount Union, but I did suck on an Air Force oxygen hose for parts of the next 20 years, so I could be mistaken.
Cheers!

Lattimore has another fumble....

Raider 68

Missed the listening to the Raider game, just looked at the box score, few thoughts:

1. The defense continues to impress. :)

2. Burke is growing into a leader each game, and Namdar has talent as well. Both
have great touch on the ball, both long and short.

3. After a slow start, the offense got in gear, but Lattimore needs sticky glue on his
    hands.

4. The Raiders as a team are much farther than last year.

5. Not sure who tests them prior to Heidelberg, we'll  see next week against ONU.

And a trip to the bench for a while.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
