Also must have been an error last week that Huntingdon (AL) didn't receive a vote in last week's poll and jumps into the top 25 this week.

Huntingdon did go play a Top 25 team on the road and beat them. They basically inherited all of Hampden-Sydney's points.

As for Heidelberg, our voters get to see the entire team's schedule every week, not just the games they've already played. I think voters realize Heidelberg's schedule is really backloaded.

I don't think Heidelberg is fighting any name issue.

I'm trying to remember the last season that wouldn't have been fun for a Mount follower!

1977 - 4 wins, 5 losses

Ugh, I had almost forgotten about that year.
My freshman year. Wasn't a lot of fun going to games in my time there. Used to joke that unlike Woody Hayes's 3 yards and a cloud of dust, we had 2 yards and a cloud of dust for an offense.
My freshman year also

When folks find out that I went to Mount Union ... not that I try to find ways to interject it into the conversation (or they see my shirt or necktie or hat or ring or lapel pin or etc.) particularly this time of the year ... they always want to know how good they were (in football) when I went there.  I generally respond, "They were a .500 team."  Actually, the Purple Raiders were 20-15-1 during that 4-year span.
Honestly, the only year I remember is my Freshman year (Fall of 1977).  We wooped the snot out of "Big Woo" (35-8), which I am sure put a big smile on the face of Dick Ross that day!  Then, I took a day off of work, and took my girlfriend (not my wife today ... but Ohhhh, the memories!) to the Homecoming game and watched the Purple Raiders roll Denison!  Big Red ... or something?!?!  We sat next to the Mother of a Denison defensive player who was carted off the field.  Did not understand what she was saying to me until 20 years later, if you know what I mean.
Funny, though ... joelmama was a year behind me in high school, so not sure how we had the same Freshman (Fall of 1977) year at Mount Union, but I did suck on an Air Force oxygen hose for parts of the next 20 years, so I could be mistaken.
Cheers!
Uhh messed that up I was still a senior in high that last losing season.  I guess being jet lagged and in China is a small excuse.

Then I won't rag on your for you quoting disaster.   ;)

You were there for the Toth-to-Toth pass on Parent's Day in 78.  QB's running back turns to block as the ball is thrown, bounces off his ample tokus, QB snags it out of midair and runs for a TD.  I always wondered if they added it to the playbook.

Love to see Cecil gettin' some love!

Seems 0-23 was the limit....Ken Minor resigned at Wilm effective immediately according to the article on the front page.  Jay Niswonger is the interim HC.  Anyone who was around Ohio HS ball in the mid 90's remembers his Germantown Valley View teams.

Yes - Cecil's TD was great but I really thought he was a bit faster. Noticed that he is more of a 'long strider' than Pierre but who cares - a score is a score!

A little information needed from the Raider faithful (if this board has any  ;D) - what time is the brunch on game days? Was gonna hit it before the ONU game. Thanks-

Cecil has always been a glider.  Reminded me of Ted Ginn.  Pierre always seemed to run violently with short, choppy steps.

Can't say for sure, but I think the brunch starts at 11:00?
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Dr. Acula

That sounds right.  I know brunch started at 10am for playoff games, so maybe 2 hrs prior to kick off is the norm?

Pre-game brunch is 10:30 - 1:30.  Adults $7.50  Children under 12 $5.00

Yes I was there.  I think it was against Oberlin.  I was on the sidelines and was just a few feet away from the action as it happened near the home sidelines.  Actually it bounced off Toth's roommate Paul Gulling.

Quick thoughts on another not so great slate this week...

ONU @ UMU:  Ahh, the good old days.  As someone who was in school when this meant Franzer, Robertson, Vagedes, etc. were coming to town I always want this to be a big game.  It should be.  There's no excuse for it not to be.  But sadly, it's not.  Thanks to the turf there will be no mud pit and UMU should roll.  I wouldn't be surprised if the ONU defense was fired up and gives a great effort.  I just don't think the Bears can score much, if at all, on the Raiders.  I'd be shocked if this isn't a 5+ TD margin.  That's just not right.  And I don't see it changing until Coach Paul upgrades his offensive personnel.

Ott @ BW:  On paper it's the week's premiere game.  Both teams are 3-0.  Problem is BW is coming off eeking out an OT win against Musky and Ott has played 2 bad teams and a team minus their QB.  I'm intrigued by this one because it feels like one of those games BW drops.  But with the scare last week I think they're going to be focused.  Ott has been tough against the run (79.3 ypg) and also leads the conf in defensive pass efficiency.  BW will be a good test for both with O'Rourke and Lohr.

Etta @ Berg:  Etta gives up a ton of sacks (20 already) and Berg is agressive on D.  Add in the fact that Etta doesn't seem that interested in running the ball anyway and Berg has 9 picks already and this could be ugly.  This could be a long day for Fulton.  Berg should cruise again this week.

JCU @ Cap:  Not sure why Myers was out last week, but if he's back JCU should win this one.  If not?  Well, they still have a good shot.  The Streaks run D has been strong (2.0 ypc against).  And let's face it, if Cap can't run they're done.  And not just run to stay balanced.  I mean if they can't run almost exclusively I think they're in trouble.

Wilm @ Musky:  Somebody's getting the monkey off their back Saturday.  Normally I'd say Musky, but are they deflated after the near upset last week?  Does it matter?  I don't know.  Regardless, someone is coming out of here staring 0-10 in the face.
