Couple notes on the 2 deep this week.  This doesn't mean much for the upperclassmen, but I like to check every week to see what underclassmen start showing up so you know who to keep an eye on in the 4th qtr.

Namdar is officially listed as the #2 QB now.

Shawn Riley moved from back up to starter at S while freshman Noah Kainrad is now the back up S.

A little shuffling at WR.  Sherman Wilkerson is now listed as a starter along w/ Collins.  Moore and Denton listed as the back ups.  Mathie no longer listed as a back up.

Quick thoughts on another not so great slate this week...

ONU @ UMU:  Ahh, the good old days.  As someone who was in school when this meant Franzer, Robertson, Vagedes, etc. were coming to town I always want this to be a big game.  It should be.  There's no excuse for it not to be.  But sadly, it's not.  Thanks to the turf there will be no mud pit and UMU should roll.  I wouldn't be surprised if the ONU defense was fired up and gives a great effort.  I just don't think the Bears can score much, if at all, on the Raiders.  I'd be shocked if this isn't a 5+ TD margin.  That's just not right.  And I don't see it changing until Coach Paul upgrades his offensive personnel.

Ott @ BW:  On paper it's the week's premiere game.  Both teams are 3-0.  Problem is BW is coming off eeking out an OT win against Musky and Ott has played 2 bad teams and a team minus their QB.  I'm intrigued by this one because it feels like one of those games BW drops.  But with the scare last week I think they're going to be focused.  Ott has been tough against the run (79.3 ypg) and also leads the conf in defensive pass efficiency.  BW will be a good test for both with O'Rourke and Lohr.

Etta @ Berg:  Etta gives up a ton of sacks (20 already) and Berg is agressive on D.  Add in the fact that Etta doesn't seem that interested in running the ball anyway and Berg has 9 picks already and this could be ugly.  This could be a long day for Fulton.  Berg should cruise again this week.

JCU @ Cap:  Not sure why Myers was out last week, but if he's back JCU should win this one.  If not?  Well, they still have a good shot.  The Streaks run D has been strong (2.0 ypc against).  And let's face it, if Cap can't run they're done.  And not just run to stay balanced.  I mean if they can't run almost exclusively I think they're in trouble.

Wilm @ Musky:  Somebody's getting the monkey off their back Saturday.  Normally I'd say Musky, but are they deflated after the near upset last week?  Does it matter?  I don't know.  Regardless, someone is coming out of here staring 0-10 in the face.

Dr. Acula,

Good analysis!

1. I agree with your 5+ TD margin, but some big plays early, could drive this game even higher.
Personally, I liked the good old days as well, between two good programs!

2. IMHO, B-W  really needs this game and a great performance to restore their momentum, but not
sure about the cardinals at home.

3. This will not be pretty, Berg is hitting on all cylinders at this point and Marietta just will not
    stay with them.

4. JCU has the edge with or without Myers.

5. Will a new coach give it to Wilma, maybe but Musky should win and not beat the spread.

Wouldn't surprise me if Mount's former starter and Louisville golden boy is 4th behind Peludat.

I know Brock Briggs was having some injury issues, but he is no longer listed on the roster. Hmmm

If he goes to this one and Mount lays an egg I don't think we can be friends anymore.

He can be my friend if Mount lays an egg this coming week.   ;D

ONU fan here.. Hey, Ive got a question. Now that the NFL referee lockout is over, I understand thay were using D3 referees for the NFL games... Who was reffing the D3 games this year?

Yeah. ESPN said that but it wasn't true. A lot of the guys were junior college, high school and D2 guys as well. I would estimate there would maybe have been 30 D3 officials doing NFL games, or a little more than one per conference.

With only a little over a dozen crews in the NFL, even if they had been all D3 officials, we might not have even noticed, because that would still be half a crew per conference.

Friendly reminder for non-Alliance folks...Mount/ONU game will be on STO Saturday night at 11:30pm.  Set those DVR's!  Nothing like plowing through the Raiders' game Sunday morning leading into NFL games.  Ahh, football season.

Wow, how the times have changed.   Couple hours before game time against ONU and it feels ho-hum, almost Heidelberg-ish.   The big game to look forward to now is H'berg.

A line just to see if I still have it:
ONU (+41.5) at MTU
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I could have used your opinion on the MAR-HEI game.  Running 24-1 with the 31.5 spread.   :-[
