Mt. Union folks, who has been y'alls stiffest opponent this year? I know y'all are formidable and crazy good, but who have y'all played?

Have you played your toughest game yet?

I believe you meant to type: "Have y'all played y'alls toughest game yet?" ;D Regardless, I would have to say the stiffest opponent yet would be Franklin (afterall they are the one that scored). And Franklin is not a bad team. They are 2-2 and were manhandled by Mount and FCSButler. We all know that Mount's toughest game is the one they play NEXT. However, I am curious.........what is your point?

Just interested. It seems that there hasn't been much competition, really, and with UMHB having played Kean, Wesley, and an up and coming SRS, it seems as though we've faced stiffer competition. Just gauging our opponents...

Over on the ASC board, a lot of folks have been complaining that UMHB has been destroying the conference with its commitment to sports. Seems some people are miffed with their dominance as of late in football and so they feel that is the reason universities are leaving the ASC for other conferences. My reply was that nobody seems to remember that we weren't that great our first few years and never gave up, are only now beginning to grow in our other sports, and are in the process of not only building our first, on campus field, but are also in the process of building new dorms, a nursing building which is our premier department, new visual and fine arts buildings, and a new student union building. Has there ever been rumblings in the OAC with MU's dominance and have other universities complained?

Looking forward to the feedback.

UWW is playing UWRF AND  If they were to play Wilma it would be a toss up.  Their off. is very slow and not watchable.

No way. UWRF would wax Wilmington.

Taurice Scott is in at QB? Who is that and is Seaman even on the team?

Freshman from Alliance.  His name came up during camp when someone mentioned he was lighting it up at QB.  If he works his way into the #3 QB spot I'd challenge anyone to find a more athletic trio of QB's on a D3 team than that!

reality check

Followed the ONU/BW game and it wasn't an offensive blowout (predictably) but it was a good game.  Went down to the final minute when ONU scored to pull within a two-point conversion.  The Polar Bears didn't convert on the attempt and BW took a couple knees to hold on 22-20.  Tough times in Ada...

Seaman's name is not on the latest roster posted for the Wilmington game.  I'd say he is gone.
12-0 = 13

I believe Seaman is gone too...the writing was on the wall. And Quakers...ya just couldn't hold Mount to under 65? UGH! Desertraider I feel your pain.  ;D

Well I will try to shed some light. Please understand I am not trying to sound like an ass but Mount has:
Won 20 straight conference championships
Has only lost 2 conference games since 1994 - to BW in 94 & ONU in 2005 (it was plague of toads that was the difference)
Is 194-3-1 in conference play since 1990 (including a streak of 100 straight)
Is 287-14-1 overall since 1990. (Man it was easier to find this when Ric had his site - Raider superlatives!)
So yeah it is fair to say many followers of other teams want to see the Raiders move on to another place in the world.Though it has been awhile since the "Mount should move up a division" guys have posted I imagine they will be back come the Otterbein or JCU game. However, it is like you said 'nobody seems to remember when we were'nt that good'. All the Mount followers know that the ride the Raiders are on will not last forever and when it is done Mount will be just another D3 team - but for as long as the ride lasts........Roll Raiders!
BTW: Hope to see the CRU in the near future. Gotta level the score a bit.  ;D

Nice! Thanks for the rundown. No offense taken, as Mount has been, along with UWW,  the premier programs in the nation, all respect is due! Thanks again!

New top 25 is out. Ott remains #25, but is now tied with #25 Berg.  There have been a lot of compliments paid to Coach Hallett and the Berg program on here and rightfully so.  Now officially cracking the top 25 can be crossed off their list.  Now they need to become a playoff team. It starts this week.

Thanks to Neal Seaman for his contributions to the Raiders. You know Purple Suit I don't think your cold,I just think you must be a real jerk to pile on a guy. Maybe just got beat out? Maybe his injuries caught up with him.? That has happened before at Mount and will happen again. No one's position is safe and secure or guaranteed at Mount. Players get hurt. New players challenge incumbents. Were you that good of a football player?  If Neal is still at Mount ,and I hope he is,he will graduate and his degree, leadership qualities, class and loyalty to the Raiders will serve him well. I get the feeling Purple Suit that you delight in seeing someone fall.

I never took it as piling on more so as wondering what happened. Neal came in with alot of praise and with that came expectations - not just from fans on him but I am sure he had high expectations as well. Let's face it alot of pressure is on a Mount QB. Yes pressure is on all college players and QBs but at Mount you can go 14-0 (or whatever) as a starter and be regarded as unsuccessful because you didn't bring home the walnut and bronze. At any other OAC school - and virtually all D3 schools except Mount and UWW - Neal would be regarded as a great QB and a great player. But as we have said on here many times 'at Mount a Championship is expected'. Regardless of what happened to Neal he did have injuries that kept him off the field and we all questioned his abilities and decision making. No one has said Neal had no business playing at Mount, or that he sucked (though his toughness was questioned a few times) and no one said that about Piloto, Rocco, Bruney or Burghardt - they just didn't deliver a trophy. In some regards that makes them below the expected standard. Is that fair? Perhaps not. But it never really matters what is fair and what is not, or what should or shouldn't be - it only matters what is. I don't see it as bad form to criticize a college player. We heard people over the years on this board criticize D1 athletes and no one was called out as a jerk. But it is different in Neal's case because it is a smaller school and we all know alot more about the kids than big school athletes. And now I am off my soapbox. Enjoy the week y'all - and to UMHB2001 I just wanna say that I was wondering when you "wandered" over here if the playoff smack was starting already ('you guys have never seen a team like us, etc..). But you seem on the up and up and I hope to see the CRU soon. Enjoy the season.

Sorry to be a "jerk" buf if Neal quit it is more of an indictment of him than me.  I never wished him to fail, but did not have country stark county blinders on.   I wish he could have been a 4 time champion, but he didn't have it and I 'm not blaming an "injury."  The writing has been on the wall for a while but a replacement just appeared last year.  Not being there in the summer when you live < 10 miles away is unacceptable, but I'm just a jerk.  Neal would have been a star 8 weeks a year at any other OAC school, imagine him against that MUC defense....

Can we please move the conversation to the HUGE game Saturday against Capital?   How in the world in the Raider defense going to slow down Rocky Pentello and that great Cap passing game?
........
What?  He graduated?  Seriously?
........
I thought he had tenure and could stay as long as he wanted?
........
Players don't get tenure?  Never mind.
