Nice story about Ott WR Trey Fairchild on the front page.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned- Cecil Shorts had a great one handed catch on a deep route vs the Bears.

I don't know what to think about Otterbein this year- or any year. I know the game with Berg is "supposed" to be a big one but as was mentioned before - aside from Fairchild I don't see much. Otterbein had a 2 year run (08 & 09) with Colton Coy, Schlosser and before him Rafferty and made the playoffs in 08. They seemed to be headed in the right direction but have really slid back to where they were - a perrenial 5-5 / 6-4 team. Basically, even when OTT was on a rise and was talking about challenging for the OAC they never delivered. I know the 08 game with Mount was 49-20 but it wasn't that close & they got waxed in the 1st round of the playoffs that year.

On the Berg side - we all know the tradition of disappointment. It rivals Hiram (had to get a dig in at my Terriers) though falls short (Yeah Hiram! Monarchs of mediocrity! Dictators of disappointment!). Berg is on the upswing and Hallett has them playing some really good football. They are balanced run/pass - 261/346 on ONU, 279/317 on CAP and 204/247 on ETTA. Otters run game comes and goes 47 on 40 attempts against JCU, 194 on BW, and then 64 on 38 attempts against Muskie.
I just don't see any consistency on offense. Berg may have problems on D with the passing game- they gave up over 300 to Marietta and they aint world beaters - but I just don't see Hallett not having them ready. Berg has come far in a real short time and I think they roll into Mount undefeated for a hell of a game.

I have to take Berg in this game because of the Hallett factor and that OTT never seems to live up to the hype. Even when OTT was on the upswing they didn't really deliver in the big game and this is a big game. I am taking Berg at home 38-10.

I didn't realize Ott starting QB Aaron Kingcade left with an injury last week.  Wonder if he's going to play?  He's a decent passer and also a threat to run a little too.  The backup played fairly well in relief last week, but I'd be a little concerned with him out there against an aggressive Berg D that'll be coming after him big time.

I have nothing to say. LOL...just football, so many other things in this world to worry about right now...does not seem very important I guess. I did not even know who was starting at QB for Mount. I asked my kid about them the other day and he did not know either...kinda funny...just logged in today cause he told me they did an interview with him and thought I would see what he had to say....he did okay.

Fairchild will be the best player Mount has seen this season next week, but we shall see how 'Berg can try to contain him.  As for Capital.....

I think I am probably the last Berg poster. and I am really much more a baseball guy. Haven't actually been to a game so far this year so I can't offer much in the way of insights. I did complain about the poll when Berg was getting jumped by teams that had never even received votes in previous polls. Since Pat Coleman smacked down my points, I have been pretty quiet. Was going to tell him that I didn't need to be reminded how many Stagg Bowls Mount had been to since I am actually a Mount grad, class of 1981. My son is a starting pitcher on the Berg baseball team. I enjoy seeing Marietta get smacked around in football, a little bit of payback for the baseball season. See they have been consistently a 2-3 win team over the years. Wonder if Wilmington can rise up to keep them winless this year.

An interesting note, Berg's senior kicker, Danny Kilger, came from the baseball team. He didn't play football his first 2 years. He was brought to try out by another Berg baseball player who has been playing a solid DB this year, Justin Suddeth. Kilger was a standout high school soccer player who might have gotten recruited by some bigger schools, but he wanted to play baseball.

I did see the coaches poll today and Berg is actually #20 there, think BW was still in at #23, and Ott was among others receiving votes.

Motorman -- sorry. Didn't mean to stifle you thoughts. Just being the voice of the poll.
