49-17 Mount on a nice run from Burke. Kudos to JCU on the video feed - very nice to be able to watch this one.

Let the Second Season begin! ;D ;D
12-0 = 13

Raider 68

Coach Kehres did not appreciate the 6 PM start on the last game of season. The Raiders made them pay. Myers is a good QB, but K. Burke was unbelievable. What a performance, and the game was a good test for the playoffs from a good passing team!

We'll see how the brackets fill in on Sunday!

Just back from the Berg game. Berg would have won by 2 touchdowns if they could have defensed the trick plays. To my eyes the final kick by BW was never blocked and how they thought falling on a missed field goal in the end zone was a touchdown was beyond me. Was a bad snap and resulted in a horrible kick. And even if the kick had been blocked, since it crossed the line of scrimmage it still wasn't a free ball. Only if it doesn't cross the line of scrimmage may the offense advance the blocked kick. Berg players and fans did not come onto the field until after the clock hit 0:00. Play was called correctly. BW coach was way out of line and frankly, ignorant of the rules, for in any way claiming it should have been a touchdown.

The pushing and shoving came from them grabbing the ball in the endzone in the middle of the Berg celebration of making the playoffs. Could have been an ugly situation, thankfully cooler heads prevailed.

Was at the game too, Wow! The ending was crazy. These are very exciting times for the Student Princes. Congrats to Heidelberg. What a game What a game.

Hey HScoach, it was hard to tell on the video...the first play after the goal line stand Burke overthrew Moore.  It looked like he had beaten his man by a couple steps.  And he can fly.  If he caught that was he gone or was there help?  The reason I ask is because it would have been a 99 yd TD pass thus breaking the record.  I believe it was seventies who used to always joke that LK always ran the ball until they were across the 5 at least to preserve his record.

Other than that, great game by the offense.  Burke was sick.  That kid is a magician sometimes.  Collins and Denton were clicking.  And Myers was still good watching him this time too.  He can throw it.  Good test for UMU in week 11.

agreed and i like this UMU teams response to being behind. I sure hope # 77 is 100% for the play offs. from what i have read and SEEN this umu team is a lil  different than others in the past.....deep in many  areas but no  superstars     lot of wr talent     lot of running back talent. d is fast as usual. it is my last year of having a player on the team to follow/and pay for. 4 years of not losing conference games(only losing to uww in 15th games)  it is a fun team to follow with a world class coach-expectations are high and lk does make the kids focus on THE NEXT GAME  i have only seen 4 years but in the 4 years he has managed to keep the 18-22 yr old kids focused on the next game. all i gotta say is that UMU isnt unbeatable but no one dimensional team (on offense or defense) will beat them. if you can run the ball 4/5 yds a carry   throw for 250 yds and keep UMU offense under 450 yards...... a team might have a legit chance      i think defense comes out angry in playoffs and gives the multi talented offense a chance to get "traction" even if a team comes out w a gimmick trick look.

Anyone know why the star running back for the berg did not play?

Just wondering, who deserves the Coach of the Year award more....LK for his long term winning ways and conference dominance, not to mention long history of playoff appearances, or Mike Hallett the coach of a perennial bottom feeder school?  IMHO only the rudder of the Titantic  had a tougher job of turning something around than Coach Hallett has. Both are deserving for doing something truly amazing. Im just not sure whose job was the most amazing. Anybody wanna weigh in on this one?

Skilliter may not have been selling popcorn at the concessions yesterday, but in the past Chuckie Moore had to sell playoff tickets between games. Thats D3 for ya. ;)

If playing a national championship game on a Friday didnt get to LK, what makes JCU think a night game is gonna rattle his cage?

Congrats to Mount and LK on another undefeated season!!  Do they have the recored for the most undefeated seasons all time yet??
They gotta be getting close.  Anyway, on to the playoffs.  Good Luck Raiders!

Doc:    Moore was 5 yards beyond any defender and would have been GONE.  Over throw looked like it was caused by him getting tangled up with the DB as he made his break.   Broke his stride and made him stumble a little.

Bushman:  Brooks injured his knee against Mount on a KO return in 2nd quarter.  Hopefully he's OK for Round 1 because they're a much different offense with him carrying it.

13:  Has to be Coach Hallett.   Unanimously.   LK has made some nice, minor adjustments to his starting lineup (QB, RT, RG, LB), but he started the season with a senior dominated roster that was a Stagg participant.  Hallett has taken a bunch of sophomores to the playoffs.

13:   Your post about Coach of the Year has got me thinking about the All-OAC selections.

Offensive player of the year:   Kevin Burke.  (Cartel Brooks was probably the leader before he got hurt in Week 7)

Defensive player of the year:   Nick Driskill.   By a wide enough margin that there isn't a consideration for runner-up.  They skip right to 3rd........

QB:   I'm going with Burke over Myers (JCU) due to efficiency and Burke hasn't missed an OAC game.  No doubt that Myers is a stud, big arm, great command of the field and the best physical talent in the conference, but Burke has played every bit as good.  He just doesn't have the yardage totals that Myers has due to LK actually trying to stay balanced.  If Kehres wanted to throw it 40+ times a game, Burke would have Myers' type stats.

WR:  Probably Robilotto from JCU based simply on stats.  Fairchild has been hurt at Otter, and Collins at Mount is hurt by the lack of overall great stats due to the depth at WR spreading the ball around.

RB:  Cartel Brooks.  By a wide margin. (side note:  if Germany Woods was good enough to make Cartel Brooks the 2nd option last year, I can't wait to see Woods running in the same backfield as Burke)

O-line:   Would have been Antonio Tate again, but he's missed the last 2.5 games.  Hope he's ready for Round 3 and beyond.  That leaves LT Quentin Rembert (H'Berg) who was also All-OAC a year ago.  He was very good and anchors an O-line for a playoff team that averages over 500 yards a game.  That looks like a Lineman of the Year to me.

D-Line:  This one is hard to predict.  I'm going with NG Ben Poirer (H'Berg).  He has the sacks and TFL to stand out and he was very disruptive against Mount.  I was very impressed with him.

LB:  Honestly, I have no idea who this should be.  No LB has stood out to me in their games against Mount.  Dieuseul was D-lineman of the year in '11, does that carry the vote for LB in '12?   Probably.

DB:   Driskill.

coach, Brooks played last week against JC and had a monster game, I can only assume he either was reinjured in practice this week or Hallett took a huge gamble and held him out of the BW game to save him for the playoffs.

If he got nicked up, hopefully he is back 100% for week 11. If not, looks like Berg might have found a replacement, although not quite as good but able to pick up most of the slack.

Dr. Acula

Interesting.  Pat's mock bracket has Berg as a 3 seed hosting Franklin.  If they won they'd then meet up with 7 seed North Central who Pat has winning the Concordia Chicago lottery.  That'd be good for Berg.  They'd have a good, but very beatable opener followed by a step up to a great measuring stick team in round 2.

And Hallett is hands down the COY.  No question.  I've said it before...if you watched what I watched Berg put on the field 10 or so yrs ago this is mind blowing.  Besides, when was the last time LK won OAC COY?  Mid 90's?  I think they more or less reward the 2nd best team or the "bad team, good progress" guy.
