Gee, you guys aren't worried about your upcoming game at all.
I guess who would be with that defense and staff.

I can guarantee the boys will be prepped just like every week-one week at a time, and  btw for a change the offense
is about even with the defense.  I'm sure y'all will have a nice time, esp as HScoach said we can't put third/fourth teams out there

13:   Your post about Coach of the Year has got me thinking about the All-OAC selections.

Offensive player of the year:   Kevin Burke.  (Cartel Brooks was probably the leader before he got hurt in Week 7)

Defensive player of the year:   Nick Driskill.   By a wide enough margin that there isn't a consideration for runner-up.  They skip right to 3rd........

QB:   I'm going with Burke over Myers (JCU) due to efficiency and Burke hasn't missed an OAC game.  No doubt that Myers is a stud, big arm, great command of the field and the best physical talent in the conference, but Burke has played every bit as good.  He just doesn't have the yardage totals that Myers has due to LK actually trying to stay balanced.  If Kehres wanted to throw it 40+ times a game, Burke would have Myers' type stats.

WR:  Probably Robilotto from JCU based simply on stats.  Fairchild has been hurt at Otter, and Collins at Mount is hurt by the lack of overall great stats due to the depth at WR spreading the ball around.

O-line:   Would have been Antonio Tate again, but he's missed the last 2.5 games.  Hope he's ready for Round 3 and beyond.  That leaves LT Quentin Rembert (H'Berg) who was also All-OAC a year ago.  He was very good and anchors an O-line for a playoff team that averages over 500 yards a game.  That looks like a Lineman of the Year to me.

LB:  Honestly, I have no idea who this should be.  No LB has stood out to me in their games against Mount.  Dieuseul was D-lineman of the year in '11, does that carry the vote for LB in '12?   Probably.

DB:   Driskill.

disclaimer-of course individual awards mean far less than winning rings.........

WR- agree that collins stats are hurt by very good depth at WR at UMU, a nice problem to have tho for the team

Linebacker?  Dieuseul sure, I will say it's hard to actually use a traditional term for his position, he was half linebacker last year(it seemed anyway) and got D-line award, and he creates just as much havoc as last year, except playing  off the line of scrimmagel and in the middle it's harder to run away from him, so it makes sense for him to get it. Same problem with driskill-he sure SEEMS like a linebacker a lot of the time

O-line?   UMU averages 14 points.game more than hberg, Mt O-line gained 6-700(5300 vs 4700) more yards in offense over the 10 games, has a cpl All OAC returners besides antonio, and another returning member from the north region team thats started 40 consecutive games so far----- neither team gives up many sacks, and UMU had a bit of a reshuffled line to start the season-along with antonio"s imjury and while I'm pretty  sure some fans from the other 9 schools get tired of UMU'ers getting seemingly  more than their share of awards, that shouldnt be a factor-heck you can't listen to a radio broadcast of a UMU game(-home OR away) announcers for 5 minutes when UMU defense is on the field without Mr. driskill being mentioned in a positive light. I know I never get tired of that(smile) but some folks might. Anyway, losing the OAC lineman of the year for 2.5 games didnt cause the o line to miss a beat

DB? as far as Driskill? agree he gets first/second place awards

QB  after the first 2 games with a few silly mistakes(chashing a high snap amd trying to pick it up and run, a couple shaky hamdoffs come to mind)  Burke has been quite a find    he gets my virtual vote too

COY?  Sure Berg coach is the easy pick and has them playing well and hard, but does anyone recall OAC kick off press conference and the "all the offensive yards that were lost"that LK got hit with -that sure seems like a long time ago, add in an offense that was really revamped, (I cant remember last time UMU QB took a snap under center) and getting a soph qb that -so far-seems to have the poise of a senior(ok, that could be luck and/or recruiting as much as coaching , but I doubt it)-only downside is that UMU got the germany woods guy from hberg.... not sure how/why it happened but as far as THIS year he wasn't any help. And i sure recall a lot of board talk that UMU was "very vulnerable/beatable this year as far as OAC conference play)   So if I had a vote LK gets it

All that BS about awards? I'd bet every young man would trade all theirs in for a ring, ESP this years senior class that hasnt yet returned to a town "purpled up" and is last chance

That's because the home broadcasters on WDPN are geniuses........  ;D

Those on WDPN are geniuses!  ;D FYI...we'll have a friend listening in from Leeds, England!

Giving up just 37.7 ypg and the ground is just sick...there are a few teams that could seriously test that stat
.

while that's probably true, I meant even the home team announcers ON OUR AWAY GAMES at their stations can't stop talking about Driskill-and yes, i listen with a telephone and 1 radio and a different earfone in each ear at away games and yes I know that might seem odd to some people.

From the John Carroll website:

The John Carroll University Department of Athletics announced today that Head Football Coach Regis Scafe will be leaving the University.

According to Senior Director of Athletics, Laurie Massa, "the search for a replacement is underway. We hope to name a new head football coach by December 1, 2012."

Massa added, "We are grateful for Regis Scafe's many contributions to the football program and we wish him well.  He is a great person who is well liked by his colleagues and he has had a positive impact on the lives of the JCU student-athletes he has coached.  This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is in the best interest of our Blue Streaks football program. We expect our players to excel on the field and in the classroom next season, and we are very optimistic about the future of John Carroll football."

how soon until Arth is named HC?

Very soon.

You'd have to think that's the plan.  They're going to announce the new HC in the next 2 weeks!  If it's not Arth it has to be someone else hand picked already with that timeframe I'd think.

ohiofan1954

the berg showdown, should be a good game. I have seen both this year though and I think h berg will win. I wasn't impressed at all with w berg when I saw them against Denison. May have just been an off night but the tigers looked sloppy at times and denison moved the ball well on them. Way to many procedural penalties for that late in the year. Tigers can score but if h berg gets that running game going I would pick the princes by 10. Going to be  a great turnout for this one. Very few d3 schools get the support that both the tigers and princes do. Marietta and Wooster are about the only schools that support their athletic teams as well as these two.  Good thing they moved this too the high school stadium. The house will  rocking on saturday. Now if I can just sell my michigan football tickets for saturday.

Dr. Acula

Filkovski resigned at Etta too.  That's 3 new HC coming...and counting.

Sorry to see Coach Scafe go, if for no other reason than he always treated me well and was always available. However, 0 playoff appearances since 2002, a lot of mediocre football, hopefully this leads to great things in the future at JCU.
