the berg showdown, should be a good game. I have seen both this year though and I think h berg will win. I wasn't impressed at all with w berg when I saw them against Denison. May have just been an off night but the tigers looked sloppy at times and denison moved the ball well on them. Way to many procedural penalties for that late in the year. Tigers can score but if h berg gets that running game going I would pick the princes by 10. Going to be  a great turnout for this one. Very few d3 schools get the support that both the tigers and princes do. Marietta and Wooster are about the only schools that support their athletic teams as well as these two.  Good thing they moved this too the high school stadium. The house will  rocking on saturday. Now if I can just sell my michigan football tickets for saturday.

I haven't seen Witt play so I can't say much other than on paper they've been underwhelming.  They have no quality wins, they've played poor teams far too close, their best accomplishment is a home loss to Wabash.  Berg has been far more impressive to date.  But the thing is that all means nothing tomorrow.  And Witt has been here before.  Berg hasn't.

I think it's going to be a good game.  I think both teams are going to move the ball on the other.  The BW game definitely gave me some concern about the Berg D.  Not exactly the note you want to head into the playoffs on.  But I think ending the season w/ UMU, JCU, BW will have the Berg in playoff mode and prepared for this game.  Hopefully Brooks is 100% and they play well.

Go Berg!  (And go Raiders, obviously)

From the John Carroll website:

The John Carroll University Department of Athletics announced today that Head Football Coach Regis Scafe will be leaving the University.

According to Senior Director of Athletics, Laurie Massa, "the search for a replacement is underway. We hope to name a new head football coach by December 1, 2012."

Massa added, "We are grateful for Regis Scafe's many contributions to the football program and we wish him well.  He is a great person who is well liked by his colleagues and he has had a positive impact on the lives of the JCU student-athletes he has coached.  This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is in the best interest of our Blue Streaks football program. We expect our players to excel on the field and in the classroom next season, and we are very optimistic about the future of John Carroll football."

I'm friends with a guy that was pretty good on the 2002 semifinal JCU team. He told me he got an email about this yesterday and he thinks Arth has the inside track.

One other thing...

To those that want to compare Kevin Burke to a past Mount Union QB.

Take it from someone that has seen every one of them over the last 25 years.

This guy compares most to Bill Borchert.

Yes, that Bill Borchert.

Except Burke has had a better sophomore year than Borchert did.

Matter of fact, Burke has probably had the best sophomore year of any Mount QB I have ever seen, including Gary Smeck, which won a Stagg Bowl his sophomore season in 1998.

Burke is more accurate from 40 yards than Bruney was from 20.

Seaman was more like Bruney minus the leg speed due to the knee injury he suffered duing baseball his senior year of high school. Burke and Bruney have completely different running styles.

pretty sure Burke can handle the pressure.  Led St Ed's to its first state title and out-dueled Braxton Miller in the title game.   The kid has stepped up to every challenge.

11 of the 16 games Sat. will be available on video.  What determines this or who determines this?   Maybe Pat or Keith know or H.S. Coach.  Any help out there?

Each school is responsible for setting up its own broadcast.

I've been following the Raiders in great depth since the Jim Ballard days and agree 100% with that opinion.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

how soon until Arth is named HC?

Very soon.

You'd have to think that's the plan.  They're going to announce the new HC in the next 2 weeks!  If it's not Arth it has to be someone else hand picked already with that timeframe I'd think.

How about London Fletcher?
My son and I would never let him out of Washington.  Without him there is no defense.

And Pierre should be back this week (mistake -- should quit season and get surgery)

does anyone know of a link to a video of the blocked field goal at the end of the berg-bw game? Would sure have loved to have seen that.

Go Heidelberg!   and thanks RIC...I made that statement comparing Burke to Borchert a few weeks into the season..the similarities are stunning
I also hope that W and J gets a win.  It would be nice to see them again in a real game, not a scrimmage. I know they have respect, but no love for the Raiders.

Filkovski resigned at Etta too.  That's 3 new HC coming...and counting.

I wonder if baseball players work football games at Marietta like they do at Mount and Heidelberg? Can you imagine the comments? We win national championships and these guys can't even win a game.

Kevin Burke is way too cool of a customer to care who is getting compared to on a message board. The kid is a leader and a winner.

Mount Union was lucky to find a player like him, and get him reps at such a young age. I think the only issue with this is the fact we do not get to see Roman Namdar play. This kid is also a stud.
