Congrats to the Raiders on overcoming a slow start to hang in there and get the win.  Even with all the success over the years, the Raiders' tightness to begin the game could probably be expected.  Defensively, they gave up a 6 yard pass on CNU's first possession.  Then, on their first offensive possession, Burke's first pass was incomplete.  Fortunately, the Raiders just continued to play in spite of the adversity and put up a win. Congratulations. I'm sure they will iron out the kinks next week.  ;)

Does anyone know what happened on that one play got Larry talking to each one of the refs?  It was fourth and a yard or two Lattimore took the ball up the middle.  It looked as if he got stopped.

After sleeping through half of the OSU game my football watching has been salvaged in a huge way by this St. Ignatius/Mentor playoff game.  What a great game.  These QB's are making huge throw after huge throw.

I think Ric and HScoach said he was upset because they were trying to snap the ball quickly (and possibly catch CNU w/ too many men on the field due to subbing) but the refs were holding them up spotting the ball.

And well played, bleedpurple.  +k

Yep.  Mount was on the line set to snap the ball while the CNU defense was still running personnel on and off the field.  The Umpire held up play until the defense was set.

Thanks.  I don't think I've ever seen him on the field for that long during a game.

No Way...LK was telling the refs not to yell at HIS cheerleaders!  Seriously now folks, Have you ever seen a Ref address a cheerleader during a game? I bet it was a taunting infraction, Not the players though, the Refs. Unless they were on the field of play by mistake, the Refs should not even notice the cheerleaders.

Oh HeidI! What the  :o ??? :-[ :'(.

If Arth faces Hallett for the JCU job who gets the nod? Not that it will ever happen.

Can anybody explain what happened to Washington and Jefferson? Were they not really worthy of a playoff nod?

HScoach

^   Yeah, LK wasn't very happy with the officials right then.  Probably scratched them off his Christmas card list.

Bleed:   Well done.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

One of the starting RBs for W&J was murdered about a month ago on a Thursday night.  Mike Siriani did a great job keeping the team together, winning their conference in the last week and making the playoffs.

for the record, Burke's first pass was dropped by Denton, it was a perfect pass.
Why would Hallett consider JCU when he has things going so well at Berg? or did I misunderstand that...
Christopher Newport's coach seemed to go out of his way not to gush over Mount in his press conference...shows his competitive spirit, he also showed his sense of reality when he said he thought they had Mount where they wanted after they recovered an onside kick, down 21-7, which was negated by a penalty...
Regis Scafe caused his own demise by hiring Tom Arth as is OC...rumor has Arth hiring Scafe back as assistant...classy move.
Scafe had a very decent record when you take out his 16 or so losses to Mount.  Of course getting beat by 50 every year by Mount doesnt sit well with boosters.   In the stands at Mount the AD was taking a lot of heat for listening to alums and removing Scafe....
I don't know Scafe, but the folks that I know that do say he is a fine gentleman.  good luck to him.

A few thoughts on the Mount/Christopher- Newport game.

- One of the best weather days for a playoff game.

- I thought C-N's kickoff plan ( I take it , no you take it) approach was rather
amusing, but it did not materially help either. :-\

- Good playing time experience for the second group in a game that was
  never in doubt.

- Coach Kehres was right, the referee was obviously wrong. The clock and down markers
are the only thing he needed to concerned with. What conference were these
officials from. They better read the rules first!

- Kevin Burke has the touch to thread the needle, even on deep throws, Wow!

- Johns Hopkins will a greater challenge, we'll see!

- Anyone know the status on T. Almeida, and Stewart (HSCoach help here)?

- Given these officials, the number of penalties were low.

- Denton has 5 TD's via the punt return, bodes well for future games.

- Nice group of CN supporters who came a long way to support their team

It was pretty amazing Dr, but I managed to sleep through the overtimes and woke up when the game was over. Mentor beating both the St's back to back compares to Perry beating McK and Massillon in back to back weeks in the 90s.

I couldn't believe at the end of regulation in the OSU game as the play clock runs down to 2 for WI, the officials stop play and reset the play clock as they adjust the game clock down a second. Wisconsin would never have gotten the play off in time and maybe the penalty keeps them from even sending the game into overtime.

Kirasdad is right. Let me add a little detail.. The RB who was murdered was very well liked and respected. He wasn't just a RB on their roster, he was their best offensive player.  W&J played at Thomas More two days after his murder. Understandably the kids werent ready to play that day. It was their only loss in the PAC and their 2nd loss after a 2nd week loss to SJF.

Sounds like the W&J kids just ran out of has yesterday. Their late teammate was named 1st team all PAC (unanimously) at RB this week.
