As far as why would Hallett consider the JCU job/ One job is in Clevelad, one is in Tiffin. One has a St Ignatius connection, the other doesnt. A Hallett & Arth combo would be very interesting indeed. You think JCU is that progressive thinking?

I went to the Massillon Toledo Witmer game. It looked like MUC vs Capital. Massillon doesnt tackle in practice and it showed. Nobody can make a solo tackle. The defense was dazed znd confused by the speed and intensity of Toledo. Jason Hall better wise up. Its still an game of fundamentals.

Dr. Acula

With the amount of blood, sweat and tears invested in going from rubble to the playoffs I find it VERY hard to believe Hallett would even think about what, at this point, amounts to a lateral move at best.  Berg is set up to be a top 15 team for the next few years at least.  Geography and parochial pipeline or not, he's got a better program where he's at.  Why would a guy who willingly took on the kind of rebuilding project he did walk away when he's just starting to reap the rewards?  Just doesn't add up.

Someone said Arth will probably be the next HC.  That makes tons of sense.  He's an alum and he went to Iggy.  He's young.  That sounds like a perfect fit to me.

The officials for the Mount game for from Minnesota Intercollegiate Conference...
Almedia was on sideline with crutches and ice bag on left knee in second half.
Johns Hopkins does appear to have a nice offense so will be fun...
Heidelberg has to be sick this morning....so does Jason Hall, they got waxed by Whitmer
The qbs in the Mentor - Iggy game were amazing  the poise and talent for this environment  WOW....Anyone know where the McVey Rb for Iggy is going?  He would look great in Purple....

Tim is headed to Buffalo. I agree that he would look great in Purple and think he ought to reconsider. Imagine playing for Chuck Kyle and then LK. Two best coaches to grace the gridiron at the HS and college levels. Plus Mount doesn't lose as much as Iggy so he would have that going for him. Come on Tim - Real Men Bleed Purple! I watched the Iggy - Mentor game and said mid way through 4th that who ever won the game was going to win it all. There is not a better team in the state (Eds got lucky!).
On the Mount game - its hard to be critical. What am I gonna say "Mount should have had 800 yards but they didn't execute"? It was a good game by the Raiders - it could have been much worse for the Captains. Johns Hopkins will be a better team - but I don't think Mount gets tested. My prediction is Mount 54-7. At this point the games are successful if no one gets hurt. I would like to see someone hang with Mount into the fourth quarter. The starters need to be on the field for 4qtrs. at some point before the UMHB game (yes I am looking ahead). UMHB is the one team that causes concern before the Stagg Bowl. The last time they played I was in Kuwait trying to follow the live update - and it froze for like 20minutes on the play that UMHB scored the winner. Don't want that result again.

While I think you are right that Mount will certainly beat Johns Hopkins, I'm not sure it will be as big of a margin as you predict, although obviously, you have followed Mount closer than I and I could be wrong.  Anyway, Mount sure seems to be the team to beat now.

On a slightly tangential topic, as some on this board have been discussing Mount's competition in recruiting even for players against some of the DII and DI teams now in Mount'r region, I was wondering what you and your other Mount colleagues thought about that in regards to schools like Kent State and Ashland now that both of them have had stellar years (and perhaps even Akron with Terry Bowden, even though they did not do that well this year)? In the past, I recall people saying that Kent was a "non-equation" because they simply did not have a good program.  Some of that appears to have changed this year it appears and with Ashland as well.  So I was just curious as to your and others thoughts on those specifically. Thanks.

Saw JHU two years ago.. Their philosophy on offense is to be a physical team and run the football. Certainly players have changed but their TB can scoot. He was their change of pace guy at 175 lbs, now I see he is 195 lbs.

Because of strength of academics, they can and do recruit nationally.  I feel it will be closer than 54-7. Probably more like 52-21.

One thing about this JCU rumor that hasn't been considered on this thread is a simple question of economics. HC put the emphasis on football when they hired Mike Hallett away from TMC, and gave him an increase to pay for really good assistants. Is JCU going to make that kind of financial commitment to their new coach?? It truly isn't just about the X's and O's-- it's about the Jimmys and Joes, even with hiring coaches.  Yet another financial question is how does the tuition compare between HC and JCU??

I personally don't feel like Coach Hallett is going anywhere, with this in mind plus the success they are having. He has a good thing going with great coaches and up-and-coming players like Cartel Brooks.

There's only one job in OAC that Mike would leave for, and JCU isn't it.

Is Johns Hopkins University connected to the Medical Center of the same name?

National Semi-Finals to be on ESPN3 again this year? Does anyone know?
2016, 2018 & 2021 National Champions :)

In looking at their two-deep, Johns Hopkins will be the biggest team we've seen this year. And it does seem like they have kids from all 50 states. You can't read speed on paper but I bet this will be a much better test than last week.

Yes.  That's why the semi-final kick-off times are "to be determined"

I sure as heck hope so or I'm leaving at halftime.

formerd3db, desertraider,

My take on the Johns Hopkins/ Mount game is that it will be maybe a 45-7/10 score. JHU averages
39 pts per game while giving up 14.5. They are a balanced team with rushing about 60% of their offense via the run.
They are over 500 yards per game on offense, but are -8 in turnovers due to fumbles. They have a top rusher Regaud, at over 128+ per game behind a huge O line. They are not a team that has had to play from behind other than a shootout with Gettysburg.

Mount has always had some competition from the local larger universities, but not as much
as one might think. The fact that both Kent and Ashland have had good years, while good for
them, does not really affect the Raiders. However, the folks as Ashland are not big fans of Mount
Union even though the two schools play JV ball against each other. Ashland has not ever
wanted to play the Raiders for the Raiders non-conference game. Akron is like Kent, appealing
to a D-1 potential players that are not interested in a D3 program regardless of the Mount Union
reputation. The other D-2 schools have to demonstrate the ability to win on consistent basis,
before they will pull potential Mount recruits. IMHO. :)

Just be glad we are not facing the Johns Hopkins lacrosse team....
BTW...best wishes to John Gagliardi...his record speaks for itself.  I will never forget his exasperation at the mud bowl in Alliance the first time the Johnnies faced the Raiders....Ballard threw 8 TD's I think to break the record that the Johnnies qb Willie Seiler had set the week before at 7...
