Margarita supplies on counter.....check

Watching the UWO vs. STU game now on ESPNU.
Each game is its own entitity....but......hmmm.....it will be interesting to see if STU can deal with Mount's speed and skill people.  Just sayin'........ 8-)

^  Thanks for the links.

Sidekick, SaintsFAN, etc:   Sorry you guys can't make it.  I was in your shoes last year with work, but heading out by 8:00, assuming I can drag my 2 teenagers out of bed.  Safe travels to all.

GO MOUNT!

We'll be there next year in Salem (Mrs. SF said to make it happen)... mostly because she wants me to experience a Stagg Bowl in person and partly because skunkssidekick, raiderguy, skunk and HScoach were so friendly and nice.  I've already told formerd3db (who was responsible for scraping me off the field during my senior year in Michigan) as we've been talking about meeting down there (under better circumstances) for years.

Who knows who will be in the game next year -- though I think UMU has a pretty good shot with Burke at QB.

skunkssidekick -- my offer stands if you want to bring Junior down to the Cincy area to look at schools.  Hope we extinguished the UC flame, there was another robbery of a UC student that made the papers here this week.  The neighborhood UC is in is the main reason they can't get people to attend the football/basketball games.

We will take you up on that.  And YES...he is off the UC thing now.  I was glad he got to hear it first hand from you.

You can stop watching that one after the 1st quarter when UST called off the dogs... ;) :o :P

Attended, graduated and been to all Mount games since 1973, have never heard the Hiram story.  THAT is unbelievable and a classic to be laughed about.  How history may have changed...Can you imagine Hiram with a few national championships?
BTW, I see the Wooster coach stepped down, Maybe the next guy will have some stones and schedule Mount.  It was always a great rivalry.
Just getting ready to hit I-77 south, GO RAIDERS and safe travels to all.

Difference between stones and stupidity.  It may have been a great series 40 years ago, but there's no good that comes from a Wooster/Mount Union game right now.

That's really wild stuff about Coach Kehres and Hiram.  Had Hiram offered, maybe Hiram is carrying the flag for the OAC.  Just let that rattle around in the brain for a few minutes.

To paraphrase Yoda: 'your mind always somewhere else, never focused on what you are doing'. I bet the Tommies spent the morning trying to decide a pose for the post-game photo "should the banner be behind us, or shoudl we hold it?

Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here, tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we [play] with 'em. Tonight, we stay with 'em, and we shut them down because we can! Tonight, we are the greatest [Division III football] team in the world. You were b
orn to be [Division III football] players -- every one of ya. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time -- is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearin' about what a great [Division III football] team [Mount Union] has. Screw 'em!

This is your time!!

Now go out there and take it!

GO GET A CHAMPIONSHIP TOMMIES!

Reading this all I see is Tommiegun standing in the alley yelling "C'mon old man". The champ may be old - but the Champ is the Champ! Time to send the Pup back home battered and bruised! Roll Raiders!!!

SaintsFAN:

I'd love to have a "do over" for some games back in my college playings days (and some things in life since then :o ::) ;D ;)).  Anyway, that was a humerous statement/request you made and I'm all for it!

Indeed, as far as the Stagg Bowl for next year, we will make it happen as your Mrs. SF has said.  My own said to do that same thing.  I was looking forward to trying to make it down there this year, even as recent as early this week; was trying to work something our with our friend Raider68, but he couldn't make it and while I fleetingly thought about driving myself down there, and would have left early this AM to make it down there in time for tonight's game had I been able to go.  However, other things "have popped up" the past two days which put that idea to rest.

So, I will look forward to next year and meeting some of the Raider loyalites you mention if they go next year whether Mount makes it back or not.  I recall meeting some of the other Raider faithful back when I went to the Mount Union/Bridgewater Stagg Bowl (when I brought one of my former players that I coached at Alma) and we were treated to a fantastic tailgait and wonderful hospitality.  That was a great Stagg Bowl. I've been to one since then, but, as you know, it has been a few years.

Anyway, best wishes to all of you who are going to the game this evening for a great time no matter what happens.  You are all probably imbibing now (uhh...I mean eating at your tailgaits and the annual Stagg Bowl flag football game in the parking lot ;D ;)) as this is being written.  I can't get ESPN3 so can't watch it; perhaps can get the audio here.

All the best to you SF and you Raider loyals,

It actually depends on where you live. If you are in Ohio, and for the most part anywhere east of Indiana - then it is ESPN3. If you are west of indiana then most likely it is ESPNU. Why do they do this you may ask? Well it is to confuse us because that is how the programming execs get their kicks at ESPN. Bastards! Put it on the BIG ESPN!! What do you fear - that the D3 Championship Game will out draw poker?!

Have to admit my enthusiasm for the game tonight is pretty subdued today.  Prayers for all of those in Newtown being affected by the tragedy.  May the souls of all the departed rest in eternal peace.

Hiram . . . . .  turned . . . . . . down . . . . . . Larry . . . . . . . Kehres.

I'm going to have to write this on a blackboard 500 times until I can get my mind around it.

I am sending this to the Hiram Alumni Associationand President Chema! I will have to inform them that I was wrong when I wrote to them indicating my dissatisfaction with Hiram and the decisions being made the past 10 years. Apparently they have been making bone headed, asinine decisions since the 80s! Idiots!

This is the equivalent to the (then a minor league team) Baltimore Orioles offering to sell a baseball player to the Philadelphia Athletics, who turned them down. He was then offered to the Cincinnati Reds, who also declined. George Herman Ruth was finally picked up by the Boston Red Sox. Of course, later Boston blew it too. Would Philly/Cinci/Hiram have had different results had they taken the chance when the opportunity presented itself?

The Reds did pretty good last century, though.

There's real evil in this world for some kid to walk into his mother's classroom and kill everyone in it.  My heart is heavy today as well.
