Honestly, I'm surprised Berg didn't get more votes than they did with LK retiring and the limited numbers Mount has returning overall.

Did you think more coaches would have went for 'Berg or are you talking about media?  I really throw the media vote out, most are probably not really involved with d3

Yeah not many triplicate numbers on the roster in camp.  Must be tough.

Nice to see some respect for Heidelberg. Honestly I wouldn't expect any more than this untill they earn it on the football field.

There's still room on the Heidelberg Express if anyone wants to get on before the season starts! 8-)

I'm interviewing Vince Kehres today at 5:35 on 1480 WHBC if you'd like to hear what VK has to say. Also streaming live at whbc.com.

Here's a link to the interview if you missed it:

Unfortunately the connection with his cell phone was choppy for the first 1:25 but its fine after that. Total length 13:00.

Is there a replay of the OAC preview at the Hall of Fame. It seems to me they had a rebroadcast of the whole thing last year on Sports Time Ohio. ???
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

It might have been Wilmington. They sent out a Tweet before the vote wondering if any coaches will have the guts to pick Heidelberg over Mount.

When was the last time Mount didn't get 9 first place votes in the coaches poll? Anyone know? Just curious.

Thanks Ric.  Good stuff.

I thought it was interesting (and not surprising) that he specifically mentioned that they had recruited well and had kids that were going to push for playing time at OL and WR.  The front six on D sounds like it's pretty much locked in already.  The guys he mentioned by name in the secondary were the obvious guys that have played a lot (Kocheff, Tre Jones) along with Josh Scott, Isaiah Chambers and Roy Fowler.

On offense he confirmed that Namdar has moved to WR.  Stated the obvious (he thinks Woods and Minnich can run for a lot of yards) and the very obvious (Burke has the 'it' factor) and the painfully obvious (the O line is the key and they lost their top 6 guys from 2012).

Kudos to Ric for asking about the geographic make up of the roster evolving too.  That was intersting.  VK pointed out that the internet has a lot to do with less Ohio/western PA kids and more of a spread out roster.  He pointed out that with kids having the ability to create and post videos, email coaches, etc. it has made it far easier to learn about and recruit kids all over for basically no cost.  He also pointed out that the increase in D2 schools has cut into their local recruiting pool over the years.  I believe he said he was looking at the 03 roster and it was 95% Ohio/western PA kids vs. 60% in 2013.

Though not said,  Prendergast is done.   Which is too bad.  Before the knee he had a chance to be a difference maker.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

2008, Cap and ONU each had a 1st place vote.  Mount beat them 49-7 and 44-7 on the way to title #10.

The Mount Union quarterbacks and receivers have been throwing most of the summer and have looked good. There are some new kids at receiver who are going to light things up this fall.

Has anyone heard anything about games being on STO again this year?  I assume they will be, but I haven't seen that confirmed anywhere yet.

Any names specifically of these WR?  As was mentioned earlier Namdar officially moved to WR and he's obviously an explosive athlete who played WR in HS.  I'm excited to see how he makes the transition.

Gentlemen:

This relates back to a few weeks ago when the discussion here was in regards to the remaining OAC schools who had yet to install the new style turf.  There was a question as to whether Wilmington had it or not and at the time, I had said I thought I recalled they did, yet wasn't sure.  Some said yes, others no, others not sure.  At any rate, in checking recently with a friend/colleague of mine who is one of the athletic trainers at that college, it was confirmed that they do have the new turf.  Just an FYI update. :)
