If I was in Alliance the next few weeks these are the things I'd like to watch for during camp:

How does the O line look?  Have any D linemen flipped over as has been the case recently?

Who is emerging at WR?  Are there any young unknowns that may (fingers crossed) burst onto the scene?

Is Taurice Scott the backup QB?  Will Namdar take practice reps at QB and WR?  With Burke running the ball quite a bit I want to know the backup is ready if needed even for a series.  We know Namdar can play QB.

Is Lane Clark going to be a weapon this year?  He played as a freshman when Stewart was hurt.  He's got a Kyle Miller-esque build.  Sure would be a nice compliment.

Are the experienced sophs on D (Spencer, Kocheff, Jones, Lally) ready to break out?  The D is going to be young. They need that soph class to play well especially if you include Gonell as the other probable at LB.

Who is taking the reigns at corner?  Jones played a lot as a freshman. I think it's safe to say he's one starter.  Who is next at the other?

Hmmm... I see a lot of question marks.

TheBerg40,

They are good questions going into camp, but each year there are always questions. The questions, however seldom turn into concerns, unless the other teams see them that way! :)

Certainly pains me to compliment the Flaming Pile, but Holt is a playmaker and seems to have great maturity and focus as well.  As a fan I've enjoyed watching him the last couple of years against other teams.

That's great news for the Berg.  It's always good to see OAC schools upgrading their facilities.

I do have one question though.  Why is the seating capacity only 1,200??  That's tiny.  That still leaves them in a distant last in the conference (Bernlohr is next at 3,000).  If you're going to spend the money and you're trying to take your program to the next level wouldn't you think that you need more seating than that?  I'm not saying you need to build a 5,000 seat stadium out of the gate, but wouldn't you think something like 2,500-3,000 makes more sense?

Not sure - but this is definitely an upgrade!  Maybe they are thinking about putting soemthignon the visitors side later??
I thought that was the visitor's side - just enough seats for the Mount fans.

I don't want to be a nervous nellie either but I too would be concerned with who is backing up Burke? Would you think that Roman would fall back to the QB position if needed and then how would that impact the rest of the receiver corp?

In the catagory of you won't believe it... I was looking at the freshman roster for  S & G's and found these interesting facts...

Brooks Jenkins 6'3" 265 OL from Hilton Head SC was a 4 year letterman for coach B J Payne. :) Nice to see the pipeline continue.

Trae Jones 6' 5" 240 DL two year letterman for Coach Rocky Pentello. :o

Alex Linzell 6'1" 215 K two year letterman for Coach Rocky Pentello. ;D

Gabe Wittman 6' 0" 245 DL four year letterman for Coach Rocky Pentello. ;)

What the.... He just never goes away! ???
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Michael Preston scored a TD on a 46 yard catch and run for the Titans in last night's game vs. the Bengals. Way to make Heidelberg proud!

It's always nice to see former OAC players do well in the NFL.

If I remember Rocky Pentelo played for Coach Rocco Pentelo at Westerville South.

The first team TE (Dustin Keller 6 yr. vet) is out with a knee injury for the Miami Dolphins. It is a season ending injury.  Kyle Miller has great  chance to make the team now.  Injuries happen and always give others opportunities.   His has come.

Namdar wouldn't have been moved to WR if they were worried about Burke's back-up.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Rocky Pentello played for....Rocky Pentello at South.  Rocco is Coach's son who also played QB at South for him shortly after Rocky.  I believe Rocky is Coach Pentello's nephew.  How's that for confusing?

Thanks Doc for the Pentelo clarification.  :P

98 freshmen listed on the roster right now.  Breakdown by state:

OH:  51
FL:  20
NY:  7
GA, MI:  4
NJ:  3
SC, VA:  2
CA, CO, IN, KY, NC:  1

The most striking thing to me?  Not a single PA kid!  Western PA has always had nice representation.  I'm betting Coach Kappas is already working on changing that for 2014.

I am watching the Redskins v Steelers preseason game and London Fletcher is still going strong.

That was a nasty injury, ruptured ACL, MCL and PCL.  His career may be over.  I heard an interview with the player who tackled Keller and he said he went low because of the rules.  He said if he had hit him high he would have been fined.  I am a huge Dolphin fan so I hope Miller grabs this opportunity and makes them notice him.
