Had to post a video of a professional athlete doing GOOD - instead of the crap the national media (yes ESPN that is directed at you) focuses on. Would like to see more of these getting coverage.

Nice to see Pierre understands that being a good man - is just as important (if not more) as being a good athlete.

On the Cecil front (and I guess still on the Pierre front as well):
http://www.rantsports.com/fantasy/2013/08/14/fantasy-feud-2013-pierre-garcon-vs-cecil-shorts/

Very interesting links- thanks for sharing.
The rantsports fantasy article is really cool- 2 former Mt receivers being compared for Fantasy points- IMO that's when a player knows he's made it.
I understand Mt fans might be reluctant to comment on the Pierre vs Cecil comparison, but for those who aren't I'm interested in your opinions. Limiting the discussion to Fantasy points is a good way to get around direct comparisons of the two.
Having seen both of them play vs UWW I'd have to say I feared Pierre more, but Shorts was so versatile.  Is it fair to say Pierre was a bigger "big play" threat while Cecil was a constant unstoppable? (I recall his crisp route running in the 2009 Stagg- couldn't be stopped).

Are there any Otterbein posters out there with a snapshot of what the team will look like this year? I am relatively unfamiliar with the OAC outside of Mount Union, so any help would be appreciated. Looking forward to the first game of the year!

You could always register for Kickoff 2013 and read the expert analysis for yourself on OTT and the other 243 teams in Division III.  The writers that put that together do a great job of getting information out about each team.  The guy that writes for the SCIAC schools is especially good.  He's well-spoken, informed and incredibly good looking.  Modest too.

Also, it's cute how Berg gets two fans and all of the sudden they want to act like they know a thing or two about d3boards and the posters.  It's always been a Mount-dominated board.  I can count more "regulars" that have disappeared from the Mount bandwagon than I can count posters for all other schools combined over the years.  Been here since 99.  Has any non-Raider been here that long?  I'm actually curious about that one.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Any John Carroll posters might want to check out this week's Sports Illustrated which has a feature article on London Fletcher including mention of his time at John Carroll.

'03 for me.

Pierre Garcon was a much better and more physical blocker than Shorts.  Shorts was more of a "get in the way" blocker, while Garcon was not afraid to get into you and really block.
They both were big play  receivers and ball carriers. but the only difference I ever noticed was Garcon appeared more physically defined and appeared much stronger in college.  I know that Shorts has added a lot of muscle and is now quite a specimen, however, at Mount Union, to me, he seemed very lean and "breakable"...I never saw either out of uniform, so my opinion is quite limited.

Does it really matter?  The more posters the better, regardless of how long they stay. It's good to have a change and hear other people perspective about their team and what they have to say about teams, my opinion of course.

Hi guys. New poster, but have been following the boards for a while.

Hopefully I'll be able to stick up for my Jackets on here every once in a while, instead of reading about how good Mount and Heidelberg are all year.  If I remember correctly BW had a field goal blocked that would have beaten the berg last year when the berg had ohh so much more on the line.  I also remember two years ago when MY TEAM was about 45 seconds from beating Mount Union.  I don't think many teams if any can say that they have held a lead on Mount three years in a row and going ahead 20-19 on 4th and goal at Mount Union is something I will never forget.  More importantly, that miraculous ball that Denton caught is something that those seniors haven't forgotten.  Moral of the story: don't sleep on the Jackets this year.

Anyways... To chime in on the Cecil vs Pierre discussion: I never had a chance to play Pierre but did see him in person a few times, while I played Cecil three times in my career.  From what the older guys said Pierre was simply a freak.  The most talented and the most physical player every time he stepped on the field.  Cecil was more of a technician in our eyes.  Not as physically dominant as Pierre, but extremely fast and a terrific route runner.

Honestly, the consensus around the team was that Cecil would not make it in the NFL because "he was no Pierre."  He sure has proved us wrong.

Hopefully Josiah Holt can put up some numbers this year like the ones that we saw from these two and earn the first name status of Cecil and Pierre.  The kid is extremely talented and one of the most driven individuals that I have ever met.  BW will expect a lot from him this year and he will deliver.

Jacket_Backer,

Welcome to the OAC boards +k. Good points in your post. IMHO, B-W could have a good year, the question will be how will they do in Alliance against the Raiders and can they win over Heidelberg this year? The last three games will decide  the OAC in 2013! :)

The Plain Dealer released the top 50 high school football players in the last 50 years in Northeast Ohio (PD coverage area), a few notables, the first being London Fletcher, of course.

Chuck Moore made honorable mention, I would have ranked him in the top 50.  I don't have the time to look up his stats in high school, but he was flat out dominant with Mogadore.

Plus he gets bonus points for playing the state title game on a torn ACL including having to play both ways eventually because that huge WR from St. Henry was killing them and they needed him to cover that kid.  I think he still ran for over 100 yards too.  But as great as he was, their entire team was the star that day.  What a comeback in the 2nd half.
