Don't be shocked if you dont see Namdar tomorrow
http://www.the-review.com/local%20news/2013/09/04/alliance-police-arrest-mount-football-player-for-assault-obstructing

It doesn't seem like the charges will stick, but a black eye non the less

I would strongly doubt we will.  Couldn't help but notice his attorney of record is Jeff Jakmides too.  Not exactly a public defender.

Don't know Jeff Jakmides? Can you elaborate?

Sorry, I should have explained the first time.  Jakmides is a very well known defense attorney.  He handles a lot of high profile cases (e.g. murder cases and the like).  If you're listing the "big name" defense attorneys around there he's definitely on the short list.  But he's also in Alliance so it makes sense to use him in this case too since it's in Alliance Municipal Court.  I was just noting that young Mr. Namdar has a pro representing him.

Jeff is also an alum and a football fan and is at most games. He was and may still be a lurker here. Been a friend of mine since the early seventies in Miller Hall

So much for Namdar's chances.....

are we sure that wasn't one of urban's  players arrested this week

Is anyone else surprised that D3football.com is choosing to post a link on their homepage about the Mount Union kid who was arrested? You would think they could find better things to post as the season starts, such as the very good links Ric and Toph posted on this board earlier this week.

Come on D3football.com, you're better than that.

BS.

First, d3football posts links to DOZENS of positive stories throughout the season, I hardly think one should accuse Pat of lacking coverage from that angle. There's a new feel good story posted almost every day on this site. The positive-to-negative story ratio here is FAR better than ESPN and other mainstream sports outlets.

Second, like it or not, this IS pertinent news to d3football. One of the biggest playmakers on the defending national champions may miss games. Like it or not that is significant.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Being a Mount Union Graduate and Fan I have no problem with D3Football posting the link.  Being a high profile program, you have to take the good with the bad.  Hopefully Mr. Namdar is innocent in this, but if not I hope he (and the rest of the Raiders) learn a lesson from this incident.

Anyone know if Fox Sports Time Ohio is on Verizon Fios?  I just switched from Brighthouse Cable to Verizon and was hoping I could catch the replay of the MTU vs. Franklin game tonight.  Trying to search for the game in the Guide came up empty.  :(

Why should Mt. Union, or any other D3 school, be exempt from this type of coverage? Athletes need to stay away from these situations in the first place.

Nobody should be exempt from this kind of news. I just hope that if the charges are true they don't get swept under the rug and magically disappear like they tend to do at a certain high profile public institution in the state of Ohio.

How would not covering a major story in Division III football be "better" than covering it?  Mount Union is a high profile program by virtue of winning 3,000 national championships (give or take).  The number one team in the country, defending national champion, has a new coach, and his coaching career is kicked off by one of his players getting arrested.  That's a huge story.

This isn't www.fuzzywarmd3footballstories.com.

Though I'm not happy to see a POTENTIAL key player (hasn't caught a single pass in his career) for the Raiders be in the news for the reasons he is, what I find ironic is that a Heidelberg homer is the one ranting about it not being news worthy.

It's pretty simple in my mind, don't want bad press, don't do stupid things.

Nope -- you should be happy we didn't put it in the top stories rotation, then. That's the notice this story deserved but since I was driving all day Thursday and all day Friday to see games, the best I could do was link out.

Active player, projected starter, on the No. 1 team in the country gets arrested? Can't ignore that, sorry. We are a new organization, not a #d3fb PR firm.

It's a Chamber of Commerce weather day in central Ohio. Absolutely perfect for Ott and Cap's openers. Good luck to the OAC today.  Take care of business.  And most of all good luck to the Raiders. Send a message today!

RE: Roman Namdar story - EVERY Mount fan has been commenting for 20 years about the "target on Mount's back". With that target comes all the positives - every team respects what Mount has done and wants a shot, coaches marvel at the accomplishments, fans (mostly "other" fans) check every Saturday to see if this was the one where Mount fell, news apers do stories seeking the magic formula, and networks (ESPN) making it a big story when Mount fails to win. But the negatives go with it - Roman got arrested and it should be covered, last year with Jeremy Murray (please tell me it was him and not someone else) and the on campus incident where he was arrested and dropped from the roster - it should be covered. It all goes with the target.

As for today and the visiting Grizzlies - if Mount's o-line has all the issues reported from the scrimmage then I think they will keep it simple until they gel (week 2/3?). Rely on the talent at RB (I am so psyched to see what Woods can do!) and QB - use short passes, etc. and give the line time to come together as a unit. On D - I expect to see VK start fast, take chances, and do what they have always done....dominate. Wish I could be there - but I will be following on line. Roll Raiders - and best of luck to all the OAC (even Berg and BW).
