Sorry, I wasn't trying to slight JCU there although reading it now I can see how it may sound like that.  My comment about the St. N secondary was because of giving up 4 TD passes of 49+ yds.  The 526 yards passing was more "Wow, that's impressive.  Myers is a stud."  Clearly the Streaks offense was on fire, especially Myers.

And you should be excited.  New young HC, stud QB, renewed energy around the program...that's just plain fun!

Looks like things are shaping up for VERY exciting year in the OAC... Lots of talent in this conference.

On a separate note; I noticed in Brian Lester's column is that ONU played their game on Saturday at the old War Memorial Stadium.  Is this true? If so does anyone know why?

Turf is going in at the new stadium.

BW game is going to be a great test of where they are.  We all know Myers is for real.  How will the defense look against an experienced, top 25 team that folks expect to compete this year in the OAC?

I like the staff that Arth has assembled, retaining a few key folks and bringing in some new faces.  They've got two weeks to be ready for the Flaming Pile (are we still allowed to say that?), and I'm excited to see it.

^  Use of the "flaming pile" is still ok in my book.   And the day it isn't is my last day following D3football.

As Pat stated, the turf is going in.  They started laying the endzones yesterday.  As I'm typing this, they're up to the 50 yard line, heading towards the north end zone.

So ONU won at War Memorial for the first time since Nov. 15th, 2003.  9+ seasons between wins at good old War Memorial.  Having that many years between wins at one's home stadium is Heidelberg-esque.  Coincidentally, the Student Princes are the last OAC opponent to ever lose at War Memorial.

ONU could have made everyone's eyeballs bleed if they went with orange turf.  If EWU got away with this, just imagine...

I generally don't have an opinion when it comes to what a team does with their field, as long as it's in good playable condition... but turf like that ought to be illegal... if for no other reason than saving the fans from having to look at it for 3 hours.
They should have practiced harder.

All kidding aside, there's a semilegitimate argument that turf colored in that fashion, coupled with home uniforms of the same color, do make it harder for the away QB to see players on the opposing team.  It seems laughable but seriously watch a Boise State game sometime when they're wearing the home blue jerseys/blue pants.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

I think a school should be able to color their field any color the choose. However, I think the jerseys the team wears has to be a totally different color.

There was discussion a couple years back of Boise being banned from wearing the all blue unis at home games for that very reason.  Did that ever end up going through?  I believe there was a conversation on this very board about it and I recall a question being raised about teams that wear green and play on a grass or normal turf field.

Boise can't wear blue on blue at home.

I believe that was a condition for new conference membership.

I watched the whole game on the web.. Ineffectiveness necessitated the change in QBs for Cap. The real issue is they don't have the FB dive figured out yet and it was tough going without it. That said, I think they found their QB in the freshman #12.

I'm not 100% sure that they didn't plan to rotate QBs, or at least work in more than one.

And I'm not sure i understand what you mean about the FB dive?  Not saying you are wrong, just not sure i know what you mean by "figure out".  Figure out how?  Figure out when?

Cap is young and they are breaking in a new system with a bunch of kids recruited to play in a spread.  Give them time to learn & adapt.  They'll get it right.

Unfortunately they didn't get to try out their new system on a patsy.  TM is a good team and they have a good program.  I expect them to win the PAC and return to the playoffs this year.
