BW's 1st pass completion of the evening is for a 9 yard TD.  20-7 JCU, 8:46 3rd.

Carroll D has to adjust to the option look that BW is using exclusively.

Offense a C+? Lucky to get a C-...much work to be done.

JCU offense marches downfield.  27-7 14:52 4th.

It's not as close as the score indicates.

JCU 27 BW 7.  Final.

I loved just about everything about this game from Carroll.  The defense played great.  Offense struggled near the goal line at times, but for the most part looked very good.  This was a dominant performance.

Impressive win for the Blue Streaks.

I never would have guessed that Burke was going to be Mount Union's leading rusher this year. :o

Watch a bit of the 'Berg' game and I like what I saw from them, I think they are a really good team. They dominated that game. I think the last couple by Ohio Northern shouldn't be considered, it didn't appear that close at all.

It's good to see the resurgence of JCU. They will be expected to win the rest of their games and may even be favored in the Mount  game. Can you imagine how bad Arth would like to beat the Raiders?  Arth played super at quarterback against but lost to really great Mount Union teams, and our winningest quarterbacks of all time in Rob Adamson and Gary Smeck,my personal fav

If you, yourself are saying they will be "expected to win the remainder of their games", it would only make sense that they should be favored over Mount because that is one of those remaining games.  Now, I don't agree with the assertion they'll be favored in the the rest in the first place, but it is weird the way that statement came out.  I don't know that you can definitively state who will be favored in the Mount/Berg and Berg/JCU games at this point.  Let's just wait and see what everyone looks like when these matchups occur.  At least it look like it could be fun at the top of the league this year and not just a foregone conclusion.

I noticed Minnich did not have many carries on Sat. Was that a result of his fumblitis from the Franklin game or was Woods doing a good enough job. His numbers were not that impressive either. >:(
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

I'm not sure who aside from Ric/HScoach saw the game, but from listening to them it sounded like Woods was doing as well as could be expected given the blocking.  In the second half he got a couple holes and had nice runs.  The comment was made, and I'm paraphrasing, that Woods will run for a lot of yards IF they give him a hole.

I was disappointed that after a bye week the O line didn't sound like they were any more effective than against Franklin.  I'm sure that Saturday wasn't a happy day for Dartt as OC/O line coach.  The good news is they have weeks to work on things and solve them (or find others who will) before they're going to be challenged.

As a former HS O-line coach, it pains me to say that the O-line looked better against Franklin.   The Musky defensive line did to the Mount running game what one expects the Mount D-line to do Musky.   They had constant pressure on Burke without blitzing and completely blew up the running game.

Woods was consistently met in the backfield as soon as he got the hand off.   Sometimes even before, hence the Burke fumble inside the Musky 10 on the game's 2nd drive.   When given any kind of seem, Woods showed good burst and vision.   Unfortunately he only had that a couple times all game long between the tackles.  Had a couple nice stretch/pitches to the outside, but essentially nothing between the tackles until late 3rd quarter when the game was already decided.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the running game change scheme moving forward too.    Though it was limited, his best success was when he was in the deep I with Burke under center instead of the pistol/shotgun spread.   The TE and FB cleaned up a lot of the problems with free passes into the backfield and Woods seemed more decisive given the depth to see the hole in front of him as well as hitting it much harder with the added head start.   It's been visible only in glimpses, but Woods' ability is evident.  He's just had no chance to get going.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I know it was against Marietta, but Capital got the triple option rolling last Saturday racking up nearly 600 yds of total offense.  They're not where they'd like to be yet, but the offense had some rhythm and at times looked really smooth.   Obviously the difference between Thomas More and Marietta had something to do with it, but I truly believe they are starting to "get it" and if they played TM again the offense would look better than they did in week one.

Dr. Acula

^^^ I'd think you'll see good progress from week to week with the offense.  We have to remember that not only are they installing a totally new offense to them in college, but also most likely a totally foreign one to them period.  There aren't even a lot of high schools running that offense any more.  Candeto may need to introduce himself to Keith Wakefield at Perry assuming Wake brought the Wing-T back there with him!  They're a dying breed with all the spread offenses.
